My game is crashing, freezing, or just not working right. What can I do?

There are several reasons why a game may crash, freeze, or have display problems. If you’ve been playing for more than one hour consecutively, then there is a greater chance this can occur.

Improve game performance

Try these tips to improve the performance of your game:

  • Make sure your device has plenty of battery life left. If you’re playing with low battery life, the device has to work harder to run a game. We recommend playing while connected to your computer, an outlet, or after the battery has fully charged.
  • Close all applications. To free up your device’s resources, try closing all other games and apps before starting a game:
    1. Go to Settings.
    2. Tap Applications.
    3. Tap Manage Applications.
    4. Tap the Running tab.
    5. Use the Force Close button to close any non-essential apps that are running.
  • Restart your device if you’re still having trouble.
  • Check for game updates. To ensure the latest version of the game is installed, it may help to check for updates. To check for updates in the Google Play store:
    1. Open the Google Play Store app.
    2. Swipe across the screen from left to right to open the Store Home menu.
    3. Tap My Apps.
    4. If an update is available, please tap Update next to your game.

  • Check on updates for your device’s operating system. To make sure your Android device is running the latest software updates available, please follow the steps below:
    1. Open the Settings menu.
    2. Tap About.
    3. Tap Update or Software update to scan for the latest updates for your device.

  • Uninstall and reinstall the game. If the steps above do not help, you can try uninstalling and reinstalling the game. You can reinstall a game from the store in which the game was purchased – the Google Play store or the Amazon Appstore.
  • By uninstalling your game, you will lose all saved progress and settings in that game. If this is a concern, please try all other troubleshooting steps before uninstalling and reinstalling your game.

To uninstall and reinstall a game through Google Play:

    1. Open the Google Play Store.
    2. Swipe across the screen from left to right to open the Store Home menu.
    3. Tap My Apps.
    4. From the list, tap your game.
    5. Select Uninstall.
    6. After the app uninstalls, please select Install to download it again.
    7. Try playing the game again.
