Big Fish today announced that its popular mobile game “Fairway Solitaire” will feature exclusive art from Katie Rice, the winning artist from Penny Arcade’s series, Strip Search. On August 6 and August 7, iOS players of ”Fairway Solitaire” will enjoy Katie’s art on the game’s Daily Courses, a game mode that offers a free new course to play every day. Additionally, at PAX Prime 2013 in Seattle, the bags given away to attendees will contain a printed version of Katie’s “Fairway Solitaire” art, as a souvenir.

“We have been fans of Penny Arcade since the beginning.  And, just like golf and solitaire, the art from the winner of Penny Arcade’s web series, Strip Search, and Fairway Solitaire’s daily courses is a perfect mash-up, even if no one knows it…yet,” said Patrick Wylie, Vice President, Big Fish Studios. ”We got head tilts and sideway looks when we told people that we were going to have a hit solitaire game based around golf. But we did it!  We took two boring past times and made the best solitaire game out there by mixing the best play elements of each.”

“Katie is one of the most talented artists we’ve ever met, so it made sense when Big Fish asked if there was a way to collaborate with her,” said Robert Khoo of Penny Arcade. “I know the fans she made from Strip Search, myself included, are excited to see these types of opportunities open up to her.”

“I was initially attracted to the visual style of the game, and now I can’t stop playing,” said Katie. “This was not only my first freelance work since winning Strip Search, but my first actual illustration job ever, and I couldn’t have been happier.”

To celebrate this special art in the game, Big Fish is giving away free codes for the full version of Fairway Solitaire for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. This promotion is open to the general public and there is no purchase necessary. Go here to get a free code!

The Fairway Solitaire App is available for free from the App Store on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch or at the Apple Appstore.
