Welcome to the Millennium: A New Hope Walkthrough! Marine enters a crazy journey that could change the world of Myst forever. She must confront the thirteen powerful warriors of the heartless government of Mystrock in a legendary showdown. If she wins – the lands of Myst will never be the same again. But in a country poor and devastated by diseases and drastic natural conditions, can she find the twelve persons that will allow her to pursue her dream of a better future? Game Basics and General Tips

  • You may play this game in full screen or windowed mode by pressing “Alt + Enter”.
  • There are 4 types of Game Modes: Very Easy, Easy, Normal and Hard.
  • The mode you pick will determine the number of Animal Kings you will be allowed to fight at the end of the game (4 in Very Easy or Easy, 6 on Normal and 8 on Hard).
  • All Animal Kings are optional.
  • It is recommended to play Easy mode first and move to Normal or Hard once you are more familiar with the gameplay.
  • Using the mouse will allow you to see several icons that give information about the game.
  • The glove icon indicates you can grab an item, the bubble icon shows you can speak to a character, the eyes icon shows you can read an item, the magnifying glass icon to examine something and the boots icon shows if it’s a spot where you can jump.
Millennium: A New Hope
  • You can walk around by using the mouse to left-click on your desired location or by using the arrow keys.
  • Press ENTER to check something on the map.
  • To access the game menu press ESCAPE or right-click.
  • Use the mouse or arrow keys to scroll through the options and left-click or press ENTER to choose an option.
  • Press ESCAPE or right-click to close the menu.
  • Middle-click to buy or sell an item while in the Shop menu.
  • Jumping is part of the navigation in this game.
  • When you see a small gap between two points, move your mouse over and if it changes into a pair of shoes it means you can jump.
  • To talk to a person, click on them with the mouse or use the arrow keys to get close to them and press ENTER.
  • The same technique is used to open doors and chests and to pick up items.
  • Whenever a message appears, left-click or press ENTER to close the box and continue the game.
  • To load a game, choose LOAD from the main screen.
  • A list of saved games will be shown.
  • There are 15 available slots that you can choose from.
  • Use the arrow keys to scroll through them and left-click or press ENTER to load one.

  • You can save anywhere in the game.
  • Use the mouse or arrow keys to select the slot in which to save the game and left-click or press ENTER to save it.
  • You can replace a saved game by saving again in the same slot.
  • To use an item select Items from the Menu.
  • Some can be used during battle, some outside of battle and some are always unavailable.
  • Items that are unavailable are shown in grey text.
  • Some items are used by selecting them from the Menu, other require a target.
  • Select the item from the Menu, then select its target from the list of active players.
  • Many items can be sold for gold.
  • The selling price varies depending on who you are selling it to.

  • To view your character’s skills, choose Skills from the Menu, and select your character.
  • Skills are shown with MP (Magic Points) requirements.
  • Highlight each skill to view its description and power at the top of the screen.
  • Some skills may only be used during battle, some only outside of battle.
  • Skills that are unavailable for this reason, or because you don’t have enough MP are shown with grey text.
Millennium: A New Hope
  • To equip a character with weapons or armor, open the Menu and choose Equip, then select the desired character.
  • Current equipment is shown on the top right part of the screen.
  • Highlight each item to see its description at the top of the screen.
  • Alternate available equipment is shown in the Equip panel.
  • The statistics panel provides a comparison between the currently equipped item and the highlighted item in the Equip panel.
Millennium: A New Hope
  • To view character profiles, choose Stats from the Menu, and select the character you wish to view.
  • Right Hand, Left Hand, Head, Body, and Other will show a character's currently equipped items.
Millennium: A New Hope
  • When walking in the wilderness, monsters might attack and you will enter the Battle screen.
  • Millennium uses a turn-based battle system, which allows you to select actions for each of your characters, then watch them and the enemies take turns at fighting.
  • You can choose to ATTACK, RUSH or ESACPE.
  • Attack will give you more control over the battle.
  • RUSH orders all characters to perform a simple hit on a random enemy.
  • ESCAPE is an attempt to run from the enemies and has a better chance of success if the party’s overall speed is high. .
Millennium: A New Hope
  • At each turn in battle, choose whether your character should attack, use a skill, defend or use an item.
  • ATTACK is a melee/physical action against a single enemy.
  • Choose ATTACK, then left-click or use the arrow keys followed by ENTER to pick the target.
  • SKILL is a magical spell that can be cast on one or all enemies as an attack or on on or all allies as a healing action.
  • Choose SKILL, select the skill from the available list, then chose the target if needed.
  • DEFEND makes your character skip a turn in battle but attacks on him or her will inflict much less damage.
  • ITEM allows you to choose an item that can be used against one or all enemies as an attack, or on one or all allies as a shield or heal.
  • Choose ITEM, select the item from the available list, then choose the target if needed.
  • The Battle will go on, with you choosing actions for each party member, then watching the results, until a party is defeated.
  • Characters can be revived by using certain spells or items.
Millennium: A New Hope
  • Battle is affected by the Game Mode chosen.
  • In Very Easy mode your characters are 160% stronger than normal, in Easy mode 130%, and in Hard mode 70%.
  • When the enemy is defeated, your characters gain Experience (EXP) and possibly a new level.
  • After a battle ends, enemies will provide items you can sell or save for later use.
  • When a character reaches level 20, he or she can be promoted in the Temple of Myst. Promotion gives additional powers.
  • There are four types of Orbs in this game: Red, Blue, Green and Yellow.
  • The orbs can be exchanged for Stats points in Guilds.
  • There are four Guilds in this game: Mind, Strength, Speed and Resistance.
  • There are five magical attributes in this game: Green, Blue, Red, White and Dark.

Green Grass

  • The game starts with a cut scene at Marine’s house.
  • You are given the option to use a Tutorial.
  • Move one screen to the right.
  • Go inside the second house to the right and Florette will give you your first quest: Find Florette’s Teddy Bear.

  • Move two screens up.
  • Go inside Dahl’s Excellent Shop and buy the Broken Paladin Helmet.
Millennium: A New Hope
  • After entering the Green Grass Fields move one screen up and one left.
  • Inspect the Teddy Bear and return it to Florette.
  • You have just completed your first quest!

  • Go back to the Green Grass Fields, move one screen up and go left until you find Sabor.
  • Talk to him and he will give you your next quest: Find good quality honey.
Millennium: A New Hope
  • Go to Green Grass Pond, left of Green Grass Fields.
  • Collect all 6 Big Frogs to be used later on in a future quest.
Millennium: A New Hope
  • Go to Green Grass Fields from the village.
  • Move one screen up and pick up the Wood Stick to help during your first fights.

  • Go right after entering Green Grass Fields and jump onto the bridge.
  • Inspect the second pylon going down to find your first Secret Room.

  • Go up from the Green Grass Fields to the Temple to collect many items, gold and a quest: Find the missing piece of the pillar.
Millennium: A New Hope
  • Near the Green Grass Fields exit you will find the fairy Jeanne.
  • You will be able to summon her for 10MP.
  • She can do two things: a large magical attack and a normal Heal spell cast randomly on one of your fellow companions.
Millennium: A New Hope
  • Keep going north until you find a small hut where you can rest and find several items.
Millennium: A New Hope
  • Go up one screen then right and you will find another hut.
  • Talk to Florian and he will give you a quest: Find and kill the Animal Kings.
Millennium: A New Hope
  • Here you will find a butterfly once you acquire the Misty Bag, which can be found later in the game in the Sapphire Cave.

  • Go up one screen and you will get to your first world map, Midlands of Myst!

Midlands of Myst

  • Visit all the buildings on the map.
  • Here you will find the Guild of Strength and the Guild of Speed.
  • You can also acquire a new Status.
  • Keep in mind they are very expensive so can’t be attained early on in the game.
Millennium: A New Hope
  • In the Guild of Strength talk to Steiner and he will give you a quest: To find his Gold Medal.
  • The terrains you are walking on (woods, paths, plains) are not the same and therefore affect the battles that may happen on them.
  • Try to avoid the woods for your party will be more exposed to ambushes and it will eventually result in a malus called Terrain Effect: Woods.
  • Stay in plains or better, on the path as much as possible.
  • There are hidden locations on this map.
  • The lair of the Queen Bee -she is one of the Animal Kings so don’t try it until the end of the game, the Thieves Den –it won’t appear until you find a map for it and The Forge.
  • The Forge gets some new items at regular intervals.
  • You should not miss any of the items if you want to get the final one.
  • Make sure to check for new items at the following times.
  • At the beginning of the game.
  • After Benoit joins your party of characters.
  • After you heard about the Rebel.
  • After Karine joins your party of characters.
  • After you find The Monastery.
  • After Hirado joins your party of characters.
  • Enter the Grey Cave.
  • Cross the first bridge and jump to the right for some extra items.
  • Along the way up inspect the wall above the pile of pebbles to find a Secret Room.
Millennium: A New Hope
  • Go to Pinerock and talk to grandpa and Benoit at Grandpa’s house.
Millennium: A New Hope
  • Head north until you find Thomas’s house.
  • He will give you a quest: Find 10 snakes for an armor.
  • Go to the 2nd floor and talk to Frank.
  • He will give you a quest: Find 10 purple grapes.
Millennium: A New Hope
  • Head south until you find Jack and James.
  • They will give you two quests: Kill the ghost in the Chantefleur Woods and Find Jack and James purse.
  • After you finish talking to them they send you to Chantefleur Woods.

Chantefleur Woods

  • Before you start this area make sure to have at least 5 Alchemy Balms (Venom cure) and about 10 Phials for when you run out of magic.
  • When facing Green Ants make sure to summon Jeanne.
  • You can always escape the Green Ants if necessary but try to fight them as often as you can, they are great XP!
  • Go right and then up.
  • You will find the ghost.
  • Make sure to summon Jeanne.
  • She will attack and you will defend.
  • When your health goes below 30 get Jeanne to heal you.
Millennium: A New Hope
  • After you have killed the ghost go talk to Jack.
  • He will give you a nice Thick Leather Coat.
  • Go north and when you reach the statues go right and at the end look down and jump into the water.
  • You just found a Secret Room.
Millennium: A New Hope
  • Head north and you will find the purse and a rock nearby.
Millennium: A New Hope
  • When you pick up the purse you will be attacked by some living roots.
  • Make sure to summon Jeanne as she does good damage to them.
  • Replenish your HP and MP when the fight is over.
  • Click on the rock nearby.
  • Loads of ants will attack you.
  • Make sure to summon Jeanne for this fight.
  • After you kill them all you will obtain the Ant Gem.
  • Talk to Jack to finish the purse quest.
  • Head to the village exit for a cut scene then go talk to Benoit, he will now join you.
  • Make sure to equip him the best you can.
  • Exit the village and visit the Guild of Speed to pick up the Blue Fire.

  • Go through the Grey Cave and head east. Don’t forget to visit the Forge for a new item.

Eastern Lands

  • Welcome to the Eastern Lands!
Millennium: A New Hope
  • Go to the bottom right part of the map to find an Ebony Stick.
Millennium: A New Hope
  • Go left and then up to the middle of the map and enter the Guild of Mind.
  • Check the chair in the upper left corner to access a Secret Room.
Millennium: A New Hope
  • Inside the Secret Room you will find the Pillar of Mind.
Millennium: A New Hope
  • Go right and then up to the General Store.
  • Here you can purchase the Scaled Gloves that will allow you to catch snakes in Green Grass.
  • If you are playing on normal or hard mode Thomas will give you a piece of armor.
  • While inside the General Store check the top right tile for a Secret Room.
Millennium: A New Hope
  • Go north and enter the Mystrock Armory.
  • Click on one of the shields located at the top left corner to get the Noble ring.
  • Make sure to wear it whenever you are selling items and you will earn more money.
Millennium: A New Hope
  • Go down, left and up to the Scarlet River.
  • Pick up the Purple Grapes as you keep heading southeast.
  • Near the Scarlet River exit you will have to fight a squid.
  • Make sure to summon Jeanne.
Millennium: A New Hope
  • Head north to the town of Festina.
  • Talk to Olbar, Benoit’s father.
  • Listen to him and learn about the Martial Law.
  • Behind him there is a clown, go talk to him.
  • Once you have learned the skill “Strategy” cast it immediately and pick any of the 3 options offered.
Millennium: A New Hope
  • Talk to Joey and give him the 6 Fat Frogs you caught earlier.
  • He will give you an Exquisite Dinner in return.
Millennium: A New Hope
  • Talk to Leon to get a quest: Find his Goat.
  • Talk to Albert to get a quest: Show him the map to the House of Alchemy.
  • Sell all unwanted items to Tina. Make sure to wear the Noble Ring first.
Millennium: A New Hope
  • Talk to Nanette to get a quest: Find her Cute Dress.
  • She will show you the Toy Hall in exchange for a Cute Dress that you will find in Bogoboka in Karine’s house (later in the game).
  • You will be allowed to enter the Toy Hall only if you can give a Strawberry Lollipop to the clown (the Lollipop is one of the rewards from the Honey Quest).
Millennium: A New Hope
  • Go to Festina’s Hardest Iron.
  • Talk to Tibor to get a quest: Find his Old Legs.
Millennium: A New Hope
  • Buy two Mountaineer Canes from Lee Ann.
  • Go through Scarlet River again and head east to the Rocky Path.
  • Make sure to equip the Mountaineer Canes in order to avoid Vertigo.
  • Jeanne is useless against the Golems.
  • Use Marine’s Green Orb and Benoit’s Iron Hand Skill as often as possible.
  • Go right until you find a boat and a pillar.
Millennium: A New Hope
  • Keep going right until you find a 2-way road.
  • Go south for items, go north and you will find Festina’s Goat.
Millennium: A New Hope
  • Stay on the main road until you find a room with many pillars.
  • Stop at third one after the waterfalls. Go up for a Secret Room.
Millennium: A New Hope
  • Keep going right until you find a windmill. Here you can rest.
Millennium: A New Hope
  • Go upstairs and inspect the picture for a Secret Room.
Millennium: A New Hope
  • Go down the stairs to the south of the windmill and to the right.
  • Jump across the ledge and at the end walk off the cliff for a Secret Room.

  • Get back to the windmills and go right until you find another fork.
  • Go south twice to find Bokden.

  • Head back to the fork and this time take the northern path.
  • You will find the pillars.

  • Head east again until you find a kid with an umbrella.

  • Take the northern path, jump on the pillar and go right to find the Pillar of Strength.

  • Go back, take the southern path and head east again until you find the exit to Marshlands of Myst.

Marshlands of Myst

  • Head to the Guild of Resistance.

  • Talk to Janine and she will give you a quest: Find her precious item.
Millennium: A New Hope
  • Go to bottom part of map to find Janine’s Ring.
  • After giving it back to Janine, she will reward you with the Autumn Bud.
Millennium: A New Hope
  • While in The Refuge, inspect the rolls at the top left corner.
  • You will find the Map that shows the location of the House of Alchemy.
Millennium: A New Hope
  • Head east to Bogobaka.
  • You will have to fight an ambush at the bridge.
  • Go north, and talk to Tamara at her house.
  • Ask her about the Rebel.
Millennium: A New Hope
  • Visit the Forge and buy the new item, the Magical Key.
  • Remember to first equip the Magical Key before trying to open a locked chest.
  • Head back to Bogobaka, go north past Tamara’s house until you find Karine’s house.
Millennium: A New Hope
  • Talk to her, she will join you.
  • Search her place for the Cute Dress.

  • Head towards the center of the swamp.
  • You will find a Shamfrouil and a Red Pimento.

  • On the far top right of the map you will find an Altar.

  • Praying in the Altar gives you a State that lasts for one fight.
  • Go north and jump to see a Ghost.

  • Give him the Chantefleur Tear to complete a quest and receive +1Lv to all.
  • Try using Karine’s skill Craft to see if she creates anything.
  • If needed, buy supplies from Karine’s friend.

  • Use Karine’s skill Crocodile Hunt to reach the Edge of the Swamp.

  • Jump to grab all the trapped fireflies.
Millennium: A New Hope
  • Always make sure to touch all the shining crystals you find along he way.
  • They contain a magical firefly and give 1MP to Marine and Karine, plus a random amount of gold and XP to all party members.
  • Hit the lighting receptacle to call the Ghost and his boat.
Millennium: A New Hope
  • He will bring you to the Light Swamp.
  • There are two secret areas he can take you but they are random with a very low probability of showing up.
  • They have many items to loot but are totally optional for the main quest.
  • Head north from the center of the map to access a secret room.
  • Keep going up until you get to Rogue Territory.

Rogue Territory

  • The Rogue won’t attack you right away so you have to look for him in 3 different places before you can fight him.
  • First place: Go north, then east past the Pillars.

  • Second location: Go back to Rogue Territory entrance then left.

  • Third location: Go back to Rogue Territory entrance, then north, north, right and north again.

  • Make sure you use the altar before the fight.
  • Use the following strategy to defeat The Rogue.
  • Round 1: Call Jeanne, Wind Hand, Fighting Spirit, Attack.
  • Round 2: Red Orb, Iron Hand, Attack, Heal or Attack.
  • Following Rounds: Attack or Red Orb, Iron Hand, Attack, Heal or Attack.
  • Pick all the magical Orbs the Rogue will expel after he dies.
  • Backtrack all the way to Bogobaka and exit the village.
  • Go west and talk to the ghost guarding The Crypt.

  • Go south and look for Bokden.

  • Enter the Grey Cave and have Kerine pick up the Black Fire.

  • Go to the empty house in Green Grass and talk to Bokden.

  • Go to Midlands of Myst, upper left corner of map to find a secret item: Canopy Bracelet.

  • Go to Festina and show Albert the Map to House of Alchemy.
  • Give Leon the Goat. He will give you the Dam’bl’don Bell.

Monastery

  • Take the new road in the Rocky Path.

  • Follow the main road until you see Balnard and 3 thieves.

  • After the fight take the stairs and head north to The Monastery.
Millennium: A New Hope
  • Enter The Monastery and make sure you talk to everyone.
  • Go upstairs and talk to Alcalcythe.
  • He will offer to train Benoit for 200g, accept.
  • Click on the lamp to reach a Secret Room.
Millennium: A New Hope
  • Click on the lamp again to go back to the previous room.
  • Go upstairs. Here you can rest for 1g and buy from a large selection of armor pieces.
  • Get the Jun Tsu Kah Bracelet for Benoit and anything else you may need.
  • Click on the first wardrobe to the left to find a Secret Room.
Millennium: A New Hope
  • You will find the Air Sandals in the Rocky Path, right after The Monastery on a peak. Sandals.
Millennium: A New Hope
  • Visit the Forge and buy the new item, the Morning Star.

Hirado

  • Go to the Rocky Path and rest at the Monastery.
  • Exit the Monastery and go back where you first met Balnard.
  • Go east, south then east again until the end of the ledge.
  • Jump right to find a secret room and to exit the Rocky Path.
Millennium: A New Hope
  • Head south until a Draken monster appears.
Millennium: A New Hope
  • To defeat it summon Jeanne, use both of Karine’s boosting skills and Benoit’s Iron Hand.
  • Make your way to the only cave on the map and enter it.
Millennium: A New Hope
  • Keep going and you will enter a place full of lava.
  • Follow the screenshots to get to Hirado.

The Djinn

  • Head to the Ancient Temple.
  • This is the last part of the game.
  • Metal Guardians are immune to white attacks.
  • They have an 80% chance of being paralyzed so make use of Hirado’s paralyzing abilities.
  • Explore the Ancient Temple and activate the 6 pillars of energy.

  • When you are finished, the gate located on the top left of the last map will be opened.
Millennium: A New Hope
  • Go there to fight Djinn.
Millennium: A New Hope
  • Use the following strategy to defeat Djinn.
  • Summon Jeanne.
  • Use Karine’s Martial Mind spell.
  • Use Hirado’s Barrier skill.
  • Make him sleep as often as possible.
  • Spell attacks cannot wake him up.
  • Once he is dead collect the magical orbs and exit the cave.
  • Hirado, now free, will mention a secret place of his knowing and a new cave will appear on the map.
  • This cave will allow you to see the ending credits and save for the next episode.
  • You may want to complete more side quests, if you missed any, and if you are strong enough battle the Animal Kings.
