Whether you use this document as a reference when things get difficult or as a road map to get you from beginning to end, we’re pretty sure you’ll find what you’re looking for here.

This document contains a complete Botanica: Into the Unknown game walkthrough featuring annotated screenshots from actual gameplay!

Walkthrough Menu

General Tips

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Read your tablet journal for important clues that you pick along the way (A).
  • You also have a task list, encyclopedia, and map (B).
  • The exclamation point indicates that new material has been added to that section.
  • Select the ‘Map’ button to view the map (C).
  • Your inventory (D) is located in the lower panel – select an item to use it.
  • The botanist’s kit is next to your inventory (E).
  • An exclamation point will indicate if you have a mini-game inside.
  • Hints are unlimited, but you must wait for the meter to refill (F).
  • Hidden Object Scenes and mini-games are often randomized – your solution may vary.
  • Hidden Object Scenes will be referred to as HOS in this walkthrough.
  • Hidden Object items listed in yellow are hidden or require additional steps.

Chapter One: The Cliff

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • You will have the option of some interactive help.
  • Look at the items; take the BOTANIST’S KEY (A) and the TABLET (B). These will go onto your control panel.
  • Take the EMPTY VIAL and look at the photograph (C).
  • Use the EMPTY VIAL on the strange plant for a mini-game (D).

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Select the spores in the correct order to open the flower (E).
  • Use the process of elimination to determine the order; selecting a spore in the wrong order will reset the spores.
  • Select the spores in numerical order (1-5).
  • Walk forward into the portal (F).

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Look at the stone marker; take the STICK, read the letter and the markings on the stone (G).
  • Look at the plants; use the STICK on the blossom, then take the FLOWER (H).
  • Look in your botanist’s kit for a mini-game (I).

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Drag the petals to the specimen dish with the same markings.
  • Striped petals go in the upper left dish (J).
  • Veined petals go in the lower left dish (K).
  • Dotted petals belong in the right dish (L).
  • Make sure the petals are inside the edges of the dishes.
  • You will earn the STRIPED PETALS.

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Walk right to the cliff view (M); examine the landscape and return.
  • Look at the lizard and give him the STRIPED PETALS (N).

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Look at the plant gate and read the note (O).
  • Look at the front door; take the ID CARD and the poster (P).
  • Walk to the right (Q).

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Look at the diagram and take the red SHAPE (R).
  • Look at the chest and take the yellow SHAPE (S).
  • Take the TROWEL (T).
  • Walk down.

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Look at the plant gate; use the TROWEL 3 times on the dirt mound, then take the blue SHAPE (U).
  • Look at the front door for a mini-game (V).

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Place the 3 SHAPES into the wheel to activate the mini-game.
  • Rotate the 3 rings so the 2 colors in each pie section (A) can combine to make the color in the center (B).
  • Red and blue make purple, red and yellow make orange, and blue plus yellow makes green.
  • Enter the abandoned outpost.

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Look at the dresser and pull (drag) open the drawer (C).
  • Turn the pages on the diary until they go into your journal (D).
  • Take the RUBBER GLOVE (E).
  • Look at the control box and use the ID CARD on the slot (F).
  • Take the FEATHER DUSTER (G).

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Look at the shelf and note the 4 artifacts (H).
  • Look at the table and pick up the note (I).
  • Exit the close-up, then walk down.

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Look at the plant gate and use the FEATHER DUSTER to part the leaves (J).
  • Walk through the plant gate to the landing pad (K).

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Look at the thorny bush; use the RUBBER GLOVE to move the vines, then take the BUTTON (L).
  • Look at the robot; open the compartment and take the SMALL KEY (M).
  • Look through the telescope (N).
  • Walk down, then walk to the right.

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Note the saddle (O).
  • Look at the chest and use the SMALL KEY in the lock (P).
  • Look in the chest for a HOS.

  • Locate all the items on the list.
  • Use the sharpener on the pencil, then use the pencil on the drawing to complete the sun (Q).
  • Open the container to find the coin (R).
  • Place the die next to the 4 spots to make ten (S).
  • Take the string from under the sun and use it on the kite to make the stringed kite (T).
  • Use the nuts on the nutcracker for the unshelled nuts (U).
  • Place the stamp on the envelope for the stamped envelope (V).
  • Place the shoes, hair, and dress on the figure for the dressed paper doll (W).
  • You will earn the COIN.
  • Walk down, enter the outpost, then look at the table in the center.

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Use the COIN to remove the 8 screws (A).
  • Place the BUTTON on the telegraph machine (B).
  • Select the control panel for a mini-game (C).

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Find the path in the valves that follows 1-2-3-4, using the drawing as your guide (D).
  • The position of the cutout on the valve indicates the number of the valve.
  • Choosing an incorrect valve will result in a puff of smoke; select the same valve again to backtrack.

  • Select the telegraph (F), then talk to Ian (G).
  • Take the KNIFE (H).
  • Exit the outpost, then walk to the right.

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Look at the swing, then use the KNIFE to cut the 3 ropes and you will receive the VALVE (I).
  • Walk down, then re-enter the outpost.
  • Look at the control box and place the VALVE on the wheel (J).
  • Drag the valve in a clockwise motion until you see the dummy being raised.
  • Exit the outpost, then go left to the landing pad.

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Look at the backpack and use the KNIFE to open it (K).
  • Take the FLARE (L).
  • Look at the dummy, place the FLARE in his hand (M), then pull the string (N).

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Look at Eddie, then take the TAG from around his neck (O).
  • Walk down, then walk to the right.
  • Look at the saddle and place the TAG in the indentation, then take the SADDLE (P).
  • Return to the landing pad.
  • Look at Eddie, place the SADDLE on his back, then get on Eddie (Q).

Chapter Two: Abandoned Village

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Note the crate (A).
  • Walk to the left (B).

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Talk to Ian (C).
  • Look at the desk for a mini-game (D).

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Select items from the desk based on the clues in Ian’s dialog; the bolded words are your clues (E).
  • For plants, select the leaf (F).
  • For the Museum of Natural History, select the postcard (G).
  • For Hannah, choose the photograph of the girl (H).
  • For camping, select the photo of the tent (I).
  • For strange plant, select the drawing (J).
  • For spores, select the red spore (K).
  • For steamboat, select the model (L).
  • For spare parts, take the LIST OF MISSING PARTS (M).
  • Talk to Ian, then walk forward through the open door.

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Look at the post; move the leaves and take the 1/3 ACORN (N).
  • Note the path to the west shore (O).
  • Walk left to the abandoned village (P).

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Talk to Sam (Q).
  • Note the path to the old plane (R).
  • Enter the cooking hut (S).

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Look at the jars; open the basket and take the 2/3 ACORN (T).
  • Select the shelves for a HOS (U).

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Locate all the items on the list.
  • Use the skewer on the fish for the skewered fish (A).
  • Use the cup in the sugar to get the cup of sugar (B).
  • Use the knife to open the box; look inside, remove the cloth, and find the pitcher (C).
  • Remove the lid to find the herbs (D).
  • Use the head on the handle to make the hammer; use the hammer on the jar to get the key (E).
  • Use the key on the box; look inside, remove the cloth, and take the peanuts (F).
  • Remove the wall covering, then place a piece of broken glass on the hole to make the burnt leaf (G).
  • You will earn the EMPTY PITCHER.
  • Exit the hut, then go forward to the old plane.

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Talk to Sam and you will receive the VINE SAMPLE (H).
  • Look at the flight log; turn the pages until you find the 3/3 ACORN (I).
  • Walk down once.

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Look under the hut and give the 3 ACORNS to the Pandaroon (J).
  • Take the WOODEN SHAPE (K).
  • Look at the door for a mini-game (L).

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Place the WOODEN SHAPE in the grid to trigger the mini-game.
  • Change the blocks so that no shape is duplicate in any row or column (M).
  • Select a block to change its shape; the 2 gray blocks are not changeable.
  • Enter the teacher’s hut.

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Take the WHITE CLOTH (N).
  • Look at the sketch (O).
  • Look at the drawing and use the VINE SAMPLE on them for a mini-game (P).

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Flip the panels so the picture (Q) matches the vine (R).
  • Take the formula and the CARVING (S).
  • Exit the hut.

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Look at the gate and place the CARVING on the gate (T).
  • Pull all 4 carvings down, then open the gate (U).
  • Walk left to the shaded path.

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Look at the soldiers (V).
  • After the cutscene, walk forward (W).

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Take the KEY from the tree (X).
  • Note the bull (Y).
  • Walk down 3 times, then go right to the shore.

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Use the EMPTY PITCHER on the river to get the FILLED PITCHER (A).
  • Look at the toolbox and use the KEY on the lock (B).
  • Take the HAMMER (C).
  • Walk down 3 times.

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Look at the crate and use the HAMMER on the lid (D).
  • Take the LIGHTER (E) and the BRIGHT RED FRUIT (F).
  • Walk left, forward, and left, then enter the cooking hut on the left.

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Look at the table and place the BRIGHT RED FRUIT on the cutting board (G).
  • Drag the knife right to left and back a few times, then take the CHOPPED RED FRUIT (H).
  • Look at the cooking pot and use the LIGHTER on the logs (I).
  • Pour the FILLED PITCHER into the pot (J).
  • Drop the CHOPPED RED FRUIT into the pot (K), then add the WHITE CLOTH (L).
  • You will earn the BRIGHT RED CLOTH.
  • Exit the hut, got left, then forward.

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Use the HAMMER on the loose hook (M).
  • Hang the BRIGHT RED CLOTH on the hook (N).
  • After the cutscene, take the 3 YELLOWNUTS (O).
  • Look at your botanist’s kit for a mini-game.

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Swap the fruit so that the 4 scales have the same weight (Q).
  • Select 2 pieces of fruit to swap positions.
  • You will earn the VINE KILLER.
  • Walk down twice, then go forward to the old plane.

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Use the VINE KILLER on the 4 vines (R).
  • Open the door and enter the plane (S).

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Use the LIST OF MISSING PARTS anywhere to trigger a HOS.
  • Locate all the items on the list based on their pictures (T).
  • Use the blue handle on the cupboard to find the red handle (U).
  • Use the red handle to open the hatch (V).
  • Pull the green lever in the hatch, then turn the green valve (W).
  • Use the crowbar to open the crate (X).
  • Open the cupboard, pull the red lever, then turn the red valve (Y).
  • You will earn the SPARE PARTS.
  • Walk down twice, then go right to the shore.

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Give the SPARE PARTS to Ian for a mini-game.
  • Place the parts from inventory (Z) onto the machinery (color coded).

Chapter Three: Steamboat

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Talk to Ian (A).
  • Pull down the periscope and look in the viewer (B).

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Zoom into the porthole and take the RED CROSS (C).
  • Look at the medical kit; place the RED CROSS on the top, then take the BRICK (D).
  • Look at the glass case and use the BRICK to break the glass, then take the HOSE and the GLASS SHARD (E).

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Look at the medical kit, open the lid, then use the GLASS SHARD to open the wrapper, then take the LIGHT STICK (F).
  • Remove the tarp (G), then look at the hatch for a mini-game (H).

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Slide the crates to find the trapdoor (I).
  • Move the crates in the direction indicated in numerical order (1-9).

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Tie the HOSE to the handle on the trapdoor (J).
  • Throw the LIGHT STICK into the trapdoor (K).

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Talk to Sam, then go forward (L).
  • Talk to Sam again (M).
  • Look at the top of desk for a code (N).
  • Look at the front of the desk for a mini-game (O).

  • Change the buttons to match the desk code (P).
  • Slide the green panels left and right to access all the buttons.

  • Take IAN’S RESEARCH.

  • Look at the desk and place IAN’S RESEARCH on the surface (R).
  • Read the notes (S).
  • Walk down.

  • Note the chest is missing a compass (T).
  • Note where your cursor must be to walk to the forward bow (U).
  • Select the cargo for a HOS (V).

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Locate all the items on the list.
  • Remove the raincoat to find the corkscrew (A).
  • Use the corkscrew on the wine bottle, then use the glass on the bottle to get the glass of wine (B).
  • Place the 3 scraps on the box to make the insignia (C).
  • Place the bell on the hook to get the hanging bell (D).
  • Use the opener on the paint (E).
  • Remove the cloth, take the brush and use it on the paint, then use the brush on the anchor to make the red anchor (F).
  • Use the handle on the drawer, look inside and take the steel bar (G).
  • Place the reel on the rod, then spin the reel to bring up a boot (H).
  • Place the boot with the other to make the pair of boots (I).
  • You will earn the STEEL BAR.
  • Walk right to the forward bow.

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Collect the 5 ROPE RUNGS (orange).
  • Use the 5 ROPE RUNGS on the rope to make the ROPE LADDER (J).
  • Walk left to outside the cabin.

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Place the STEEL BAR on the wall (L).
  • Hang the ROPE LADDER from the steel bar, then climb up (M).
  • Drag the valve in a clockwise motion to open the door (N).
  • Take the COMPASS (O).
  • Go back down the ladder.
  • Look at the chest and place the COMPASS on the top for a mini-game (P).

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Rotate the pieces of the compass based on the clues on the chest.
  • Press on the wind, sun and moon for clues (Q).
  • Select the sea creatures in this order to rotate the pieces of the compass: Rx7, Sx2, Tx2, Ux1, and Vx5.
  • This mini-game is randomized; your solution may vary.

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Move the items around to find the 3 LENSES (W).
  • Climb up the ladder.

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Look in the compartment and pull down the cover (X).
  • Place the 3 LENSES inside (Y).
  • Walk down, then go forward.
  • Look at the periscope for a mini-game.

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Use the buttons to move the lenses around.
  • Use the outer rim inside the lens as a clue.
  • There are 3 layers to each lens; each color button moves a different layer.
  • The buttons circled in green swap lenses between A and B, the buttons circled in pink swap lenses between A and C.
  • The buttons circled in red swap lenses between A and D, the buttons circled in aqua swap lenses between B and C.
  • The buttons circled in white swap lenses between D and E.
  • This mini-game is randomized.
  • Green lights will circle the lens when correct.

Chapter Four: Newstone Way

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Talk to Sam (A).
  • Note the blocked path (B).
  • Look at the stone marker and take the 1/2 LEATHER GLOVE (C).
  • Look at the sign and take the 1/4 HERBS (D).
  • Follow Sam up the right path.

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Talk to Sam again (E).
  • Take the LADDER (F).
  • Enter Margaret’s hut (G).

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Talk to Margaret (H).
  • Take the 1/4 CRAYON (I).
  • Look at the shelf; take the 2/4 CRAYON and the EMPTY JAR (J).
  • Take the 3/4 CRAYON (K).
  • Use the LADDER on the bunk beds (L).
  • Look at the top bunk and take the 4/4 CRAYON (M).
  • Look at the desk and place the 4 CRAYONS on the drawing for a mini-game (N).

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Find the items in the inventory (O) on the drawing (P) and use the crayons (Q) to color them in, then select the item.
  • Exit the hut, then talk to Sam again.
  • Walk forward to the back of the village.

  • Look at the pigs and take the 2/2 LEATHER GLOVE (R).
  • Look at the bush and take the 2/4 HERBS (S).
  • Enter the healer’s hut (T).

  • Talk to the healer (U).
  • Take the 3/4 HERBS (V).
  • Take the INCENSE (W).
  • Take the 1/3 GEAR (X).
  • Look at the healer’s table for a HOS (Y).

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Locate all the items on the list.
  • Place the eye mask on the left monkey for see no evil (A).
  • Place the earmuffs on the center monkey for hear no evil (B).
  • Select the right monkey’s hand until it is over his mouth for speak no evil (C).
  • Move the drum next to the other for a pair of drums (D).
  • Use the knife on the ginger to make chopped ginger (E).
  • Use the broom on the dust to find the 1/5 garlic (F).
  • Tip the basket, then use the vial on the drain to get the empty vial (G).
  • You will earn the EMPTY VIAL.
  • Walk down.

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Look at the gate and use the LEATHER GLOVES to take the CHAIN (H).
  • Walk down twice.
  • Look at the boat and use the LEATHER GLOVES to open the fuel (I).
  • Use the EMPTY CAN on the opening to get the CAN OF FUEL (J).
  • Walk forward.

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Look at the chainsaw and place the CHAIN on it (K).
  • Open the cover and pour the CAN OF FUEL inside (L).
  • Take the CHAINSAW, then walk down.
  • Use the CHAINSAW on the blocked path (M).
  • Walk up the left path.

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Take the 5 ROCKS (yellow).
  • Look at the sharpening stone and take the 2/3 GEAR (N).
  • Look at the rock statues (O).

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Place the 5 ROCKS on the faces for a mini-game.
  • Restore the carvings by placing the rocks in the correct place.
  • Drag a rock into position; select it to rotate in place.
  • Look at the final solution in the screenshot (P).

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Take the 1/3 DOMINO (Q).
  • Use the EMPTY VIAL on the water to get the sample (R).
  • Look in the botanist’s kit (S).

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Use the microscope (T) to locate all the red (U), pink (V), and purple (W) particles.
  • They are only visible through the microscope. Remove the particles from the water sample by clicking on them.
  • You will earn the CONTAMINANTS.
  • Return to the healer’s hut.

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Give the CONTAMINANTS to the healer (X).
  • Look at the recipe book; turn the pages until you find the soup recipe (Y).
  • Take the HORN (Z).
  • Exit the hut.

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Use the HORN on John the herder and he will give you the KEY TO THE WATERMILL (A).
  • Walk down.
  • Look at the watermill door and use the KEY TO THE WATERMILL on the lock (B).
  • Enter the watermill.

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Take the 4/4 HERBS (C).
  • Take the BLUNT SICKLE (D).
  • Walk down twice, then take the left path.

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Look at the sharpening stone and place the BLUNT SICKLE on the stone (E).
  • Drag the stone in a circle to sharpen the blade and you will earn the SHARP SICKLE.
  • Return to the back of the village in front of the healer’s hut.

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Look at the wheat and use the SHARP SICKLE 4 times to collect 4 sheaves of WHEAT (F).
  • Take the 3/3 GEAR (G).
  • Walk down, then enter the watermill.

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Look at the space and place the 4 WHEAT inside (H).
  • Use the 3 GEARS on the machinery for a mini-game (I).

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Place the gears in the proper position (J).
  • Use the diagram as a guide (K).
  • Drag and drop the gears into position; you must place the gears from the highest to the lowest.
  • Take the GRAIN from the basket (L).
  • Leave the watermill, then walk forward.

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Look at the pigs and place the GRAIN in the trough (M).
  • You will earn GEORGE THE PIG.
  • Use GEORGE THE PIG on the purple soil (N).
  • Walk down twice.
  • Use GEORGE THE PIG on the purple soil for a mini-game (O).

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Starting from any square, direct the pig to remove all the grass.
  • Select any square, then the arrow pointing in the direction you want to move.
  • The pig will eat grass until an obstacle is hit.
  • Move the pig in the directions noted (P).
  • You will earn the TRUFFLES.
  • Look in your botanist’s kit for a mini-game.

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Read the clue (Q), then find the pair of truffles described (color coded).
  • You will need to find 5 pairs of truffles.
  • You will earn the PURE TRUFFLES.
  • Walk forward twice and enter the healer’s hut.

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Look at the pot and place the PURE TRUFFLES in the pot (R).
  • Drag the spoon in a circular motion several times (S).
  • Take the bowl and use it on the pot to get the TRUFFLE SOUP (T).
  • Exit the hut, walk down, then enter Margaret’s hut.

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Give the TRUFFLE SOUP to Margaret (U).
  • She will give you the VILLAGE TOKEN.
  • Exit the hut, then walk forward.
  • Look at the gate and give the guard the VILLAGE TOKEN (V).
  • Walk forward.

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Look at the flutterhawk, open the case, and read the note (W).
  • Take the FLINT (X).
  • Walk forward to the mine entrance.

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Look at the rocks, read the notice and take the LEVER (Y).
  • Select the overgrown tractor for a HOS (Z).

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Locate all the items on the list.
  • Use the glue to repair the broken pot (A).
  • Put the handle on the door to find the garden trowel (B).
  • Use the trowel on the soil, then the pot; place the rose in the pot for the potted rose (C).
  • Remove the cloth to find the mining helmet (D).
  • Move the 5 petals to the flower to make the sunflower (E).
  • You will earn the SILVER KEY.
  • Walk down 3 times, then enter the watermill.

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Look at the chest and use the SILVER KEY on the lock (F).
  • Take the SIEVE and the HARNESS (G).
  • Exit the watermill, then walk forward twice.
  • Place the HARNESS on the ramephant (H).
  • Look in the pond (I).

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Use the SIEVE on each dirt mound.
  • Drag the sieve left and right on each mound.
  • Take the 2/3 DOMINO (J) and the MARBLE (K).
  • Walk down twice, then enter Margaret’s hut.

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Look at the shelf and place the MARBLE in the left eye of the doll (L).
  • This will trigger a mini-game.

Botanica: Into the Unknown

  • Rotate the pieces of the doll to complete the costume (M).
  • Take the 3/3 DOMINO (N).
  • Exit the hut.
