WALKTHROUGH MENU

GENERAL TIPS

Luxor Adventures

  • This is a Hidden Object Adventures game.
  • This is a large game with many different locations and mini-games, so it takes awhile to load on start-up. You can tell how far along it is by the number of small triangles that illuminate with each spin. The game will be ready when all 8 small triangles are illuminated.
  • The timer allows you 45 minutes for an episode. Each episode has multiple locations.
  • There is no untimed option.
  • There are a variety of mini-games, including Find the Differences.
  • You cannot skip the mini-games, but you can use the HINT button during them.
  • If you fail to complete a mini-game in time, you will just start over.
  • To reach the Main Menu, click on the MENU icon in the lower left.
  • You can use the options menu to adjust the volume for the music and the special effects as you like.
  • The game autosaves every time you exit.

General Tips for the Hidden Object Scenes

  • The storyline uses a “rift in time” argument to justify putting any kind of object into any scene. Objects also vary in color and size from real life.
  • Artwork may vary from scene to scene, so although you might be looking for a “Desk Lamp” in 3 different scenes, they might be 3 different styles and colors.
  • In addition to the items on the Find List, there will be two Ankhs in each scene. When you find these, they will be marked as gold icons in the lower left corner.

Luxor Adventures

  • There are clickable Ankhs in the Hidden Object scenes and in the Find the Differences scenes. Ankhs in the other mini-games don’t count towards the bonus.
  • Each time you find a total of 30 Ankhs (for the first 90), you unlock a bonus game on the Main Menu.
  • There are a total of 122 clickable Ankhs in the game.
  • Each scene may also contain jeweled Orbs. These are needed for the main quest. If Orbs are present, they will be specified on the Find List.
  • The Orbs are stored in the blue slots above the Find List.
  • There are an unlimited number of hints, you just have to wait for the Hint Meter to recharge. The Thoth statuette in the lower right corner will be holding a glowing blue light when a Hint is available.
  • To use a Hint, first click on the HINT button below Thoth. Then click on the name of an item in the Find List and its location will be identified for you.
  • If you are looking for the last item on the Find List, it will automatically be located when you click the HINT button.
  • The location circle will remain illuminated around the object until you click on the object.
  • If you ask for a HINT on something that requires more than one object, such as a Find List that wants you to find matching objects or a Task that requires dragging one object to another, the game will draw location circles around both of the items that you need.
  • If you make too many wrong clicks in a row, you will be blocked from using the HINT button for a few seconds.
  • Some items have riddle or crossword puzzle like clues, such as “A teacup’s companion” (a saucer).
  • Some Find List entries represent a task to be completed. This will require you to find one object in the scene and drag it to another. For example, “Water the Flower” might require you to find a watering can and drag it to a potted plant. The item that you will drag is NOT on the Find List.
  • There is no inventory tray, because you use the Key object immediately for the task.
  • If you pick up a Key object and then don’t know what to do with it, just left-click back in its original location to do something else.

General Tips: Understanding the Story Sequence

  • In each episode, you will have to solve some number of Hidden Object and Find the Differences puzzles in order to collect Luxor “Orbs.” These represent the marbles that you shoot at in the marble popper mini-games.
  • Once you have collected all of them for the episode (which will require finishing all the locations), the Luxor mini-game will start. At the end of that mini-game you will receive an artifact and you will be told the episode has ended.
  • However, before you can start the next episode, you have to travel to the next time. In order to do that, you must get 3 White Orbs that power your means of transportation.
  • So in between episodes there will be an Interlude where you must play another mini-game (the type varies) in order to earn the 3 White Orbs you need to go on.
  • So there may be points when you feel like you are playing 3 or 4 mini-games in a row. The reason is you needed some to collect Luxor Orbs, you need a Luxor mini-game to collect an artifact and “end” the current episode, and you need another mini-game to get the white power Orbs to travel through time.

General Tips: Earning Points

  • The faster you complete the Episode, the more points you get.
  • You can get a 5,000 point bonus for completing a scene without using any Hints.
  • You get bonus points for each artifact you recover, but since you have to recover them to move forward in the game, everyone will automatically get this bonus.
  • You also get automatic points for unlocking scenes and completing required mini-games.
  • You get bonus points for finding the optional Ankhs. There are 2 in each Hidden Object and Find the Differences scene.
  • You get a Swift bonus for clicking quickly on correct objects.
  • During the Luxor mini-games, jewels will rain down—you get extra points for catching them with the falcon-wing shooter.

Luxor Adventures

Episode 1A, Egypt, Present Day

  • Collect the items on the Find List.
  • The “arrow’s companion” is a bow in the upper right.
  • The crowbar runs along the nose of the large stone head in the lower right. It is almost the same color as the stone and just looks like a sandy ridge.
  • The task is to “Load the Camera.” Drag the roll of film from the center to the Camera above the temple door.

Luxor Adventures

Luxor Mini-Game

  • This is a Luxor mini-game. Position the falcon-wing shooter so it is pointing at an orb that matches the central gem to fire the central gem at it.
  • When you fire an Orb, it will stick to any Orb it hits.
  • If you miss completely, the Orb will just fly off the board.
  • You are going to shoot the Orb in the center of the falcon-wing shooter. The little Orb on the side of the falcon-wing shooter shows you what color the next Orb will be. You can exchange these by using a right-click.
  • When you make a group of 3 or more, that group will be removed.
  • You can make a group by hitting a chain of at least 2 of the same color as the Orb you shoot.
  • If removing a group causes Orbs on either side of it to come together and make a new group of 3 or more of the same color, the new group will also be removed.
  • Remove all Orbs before any enter the pyramid at the end of the maze and you win.
  • Or use the HINT button to remove the Orbs on the screen.

  • You will receive the Stairway to Heaven, a boat.

Interlude 1

  • Click the glowing tablet in the upper left to proceed.

Luxor Adventures

  • This is a match-3 mini-game.
  • Make matches that turn the pink squares dark.
  • Once all the squares are dark, the 3 glowing White Orbs will drop on to the board. You must move each of them all the way to the bottom of the board.
  • Once the 3 White Orbs are on the orb, clicking the HINT button will move all of them one row closer to the bottom. So even if it feels like you’re getting stuck, you should be able to win the game with the HINTs.

Luxor Adventures

  • Now you will get a cut scene explaining that the Orbs can open a passage through time. One of the partners (the one who won all the money at roulette) takes the Orbs and the Stairway to Heaven boat for himself and heads to ancient Egypt to take over the world.
  • Thoth, the bird-headed god, comes to the other two partners, John and Jane, and tells them that the evil partner has mixed up time, scattering artifacts everywhere. The two of them must now go through a time portal, recover all the artifacts, and set things right.
  • From now you will be given the place and date of each episode at its beginning.

  • If you run out of moves, click on the reserve pile to turn over one card and start a new base.
