How to Win

Write a responsive essay about:

What are the biggest challenges in the mobile games industry today?
How do you see those challenges evolving in the future?

Requirements:

500 word minimum. Writing more than the minimum requirement does not increase your chances! Contestants will be evaluated on the quality and clarity of the ideas presented in their essay.

Deadline: 5 p.m. PDT May 31st, 2014

The scholarship recipient will be selected and notified directly by June 30, 2014, and announced on this page.

How to Submit your Essay

Email your essay to scholarship@bigfishgames.com attached as a Microsoft Word document (for PC users) or as a .doc file on TextEdit (for Mac users).

Please name your document file with your first and last name. For example: firstname_lastname.doc.

In the email, include:

Open only to college-bound graduating high school seniors and students currently enrolled in college (U.S. students only).

Limited to one entry per student. Attempts at multiple essay entries or invalid information will result in disqualification.

Plagiarism on any part of the essay will result in immediate disqualification. Don’t do it.

The scholarship is a way for Big Fish to help one promising student on his or her journey through higher education. The $2500 scholarship will be awarded to one qualifying student with the most thoughtprovoking and well-reasoned essay as judged by a panel of Big Fish staff members.

We hope to see many student participants! Be sure to read the rules and submission details carefully before entering. No purchase is necessary and no fees are required to enter.

Legal
NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN THIS CONTEST. A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING.

Eligibility
Open to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia, who are preparing to graduate from high school and/or who are currently enrolled in a college program. Not open to employees or immediate family members (spouses, domestic partners, parents, grandparents, siblings, children and grandchildren) of employees of sponsor, or its affiliates or advertising/promotion agencies.

No Purchase Necessary
Entrant’s proof of submission does not constitute proof of receipt by Sponsor. Sponsor is not responsible for lost, misdirected, late, incomplete, illegible or unintelligible entries or for inaccurate entry information, whether caused by participant or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in this sweepstakes, or by any technical or human error that may occur in the processing of entries. Incomplete, duplicate, mechanically reproduced or automated entries are not permitted and will be deemed void. To enter contest, email your essay to scholarship@bigfishgames.com. Contest entries will be accepted beginning at 11:59:59 p.m. PST on September 6th, 2013 and ending at 11:59:59 p.m. PST on May 31, 2014. Sponsor’s servers and clock shall be deemed the official clock for this contest. Winner will be selected from the qualified entries received.

Scholarship Prize
A total of One (1) scholarship will be awarded, consisting of Two Thousand Five Hundred Dollars. The approximate retail value (the “ARV”) of the Contest prizes is US $2,500. Winners are responsible for paying all costs and expenses related to the prizes that are not specifically mentioned, including but not limited to taxes. Winners may be required to sign an Affidavit of Eligibility and Liability/Publicity Release. Any prize won by a minor in any state where the age of majority is not 18 will be awarded to such minor’s parent or legal guardian who must sign and return any required documentation. Winners will be notified by email.

Odds of Winning
Odds of winning depend on the number of participants who are participating in this scholarship contest.

Additional Terms
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to change these rules or cancel this contest at any time, or to modify, terminate, or suspend this contest should viruses, worms, bugs, unauthorized human intervention or other causes beyond sponsor’s control corrupt or impair the administration, security, fairness or proper play of this contest. Sponsor is not responsible for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission related to this contest, nor is it responsible for technical, network, telephone, computer, hardware or software, malfunctions of any kind, or inaccurate transmission of, or failure to receive any attempted prize or attempted game coupon redemption on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any web site. Sponsor is not responsible for injury or damage to any participant’s or any other computer resulting from downloading any materials in connection with this contest. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual found to be tampering with the operation of this contest or web site; to be acting in violation of these rules; or to be acting in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person. Any use of robotic, automatic, programmed or similar methods while participating in this contest will void all such attempts to participate in this contest. In the event of a dispute as to redemptions submitted by multiple users having the same e-mail account, the authorized subscriber of the e-mail account used to participate in the contest at the actual time of play will be deemed to be the participant and must comply with these rules. The authorized account subscriber is deemed to be the natural person who is assigned an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, on-line service provider or other organization responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domains associated with the submitted e-mail addresses. Only the number of prizes stated herein will be awarded. In the event any technical errors occur in the selection of winners and more prizes are claimed than the number of prizes being awarded as provided herein, sponsor reserves the right to award the prizes by random drawing from among all eligible claimants.

By entering, participants agree to be bound by these rules. No transfer, assignment, cash redemption or substitution of prizes is permitted except by sponsor due to prize availability and then with a prize of equal or greater value. By accepting a prize, each winner agrees (for himself or herself and his or her heirs) that sponsor and its affiliates and agents will have no liability, and will be held harmless by such winner for any liability, loss, injury or damage to property or to person, including death, and reasonable attorney’s fees and court costs, due in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, by reason of the acceptance, possession, use or misuse of the prize or participation in this contest, even if caused or contributed to by the negligence of sponsor. Participants agree that the decisions of sponsor related to this contest are final. By participating in this giveaway, winners consent to the use of their name, photograph and/or likeness in any manner and in any medium for promotional purposes without additional compensation, except where prohibited by law.
