Awesome. I bought this game a while ago and revisited it yesterday. It was as enjoyable as the first time I played it. Beautiful graphics, terrific story line, moderate puzzles and length of play. It's a must have. December 7, 2011
Lovely with the exception of a flawed story I played this a while ago, but I remember thoroughly enjoying it. The length justified the cost, and the visuals were great. The only issue I had was the story, which seemed rather ridiculous throughout the ENTIRE game. The naivety of the main character was simply laughable. I'm sure they could have kept the same storyline while making her more believable (like giving her more incentive to follow the phantom's instructions), but oh well... Worth a credit IMO. Excellent game! I really enjoyed this game. It was challenging, and kept my interest. The graphics are wonderful, the phantom voice over is terrific, the storyline is good, and the music was good but unobtrusive. The HOs were junkpiles, and I do mean junkpiles making them a little more challenging. The puzzles were good not terribly difficult, and they are skippable. There are no options for mode of play, but I don't think you need more than the one. Thankfully there is a map, because the opera house gets quite big and you use most of it as the game progresses. There is also a notebook which is very helpful in completing some of the puzzles. I agree with others that the ending is lousy. After all my hard work, I felt this big letdown. I, too, wish I had bought the CE. In spite of the ending, this was a good challenging and enjoyable game, therefore, I recommend this game. January 14, 2012
Didn't Like It I really struggled to like this game. Good Parts: Good graphics. Really detailed and well designed. Good Storyline. Great voice-overs, great plot. Just needs a little bit more tweaking. No need for a strategy guide. It's pretty obvious what to do. OK Parts: Tutorial was good, but there was no option to turn it off. Bad Parts: The hint recharge was very slow The game in general was not fun The Hidden Object Scenes. The Hidden Objects were very hard to find. I also would've liked to see interactive Hidden Objects. Overall, for such a great intro, the game is a real disappointment. I don't think it's worth buying. June 24, 2012
Playpond makes great games Phantom is another solid entry from the folks at Playpond. They started out with the marvelous Legend of Sleepy Hollow, then Sweeney Todd, Phantom and Beauty and the Beast. The best thing these devs do is to keep the Hidden segments in keeping with the era where the game is played. So the player will not see a computer mouse or a television and other modern day things in search areas. That's just being smart. In Phantom, the puzzles are all doable and we all know that some games make puzzles something of a chore. There is a lot of to and fro in this game and maintaining constant contact with the memo book is a must in this game. The map feature is also a plus. I always look forward to the next gem from Playpond and if anyone from that company reads these reviews..............I'm still waiting for the promised sequel to Sleepy Hollow. January 10, 2012
Great Game Didn't like the ending but it was very fun and challenging November 18, 2011
Fun, but... Didn't like the ending. Players put a lot of work into getting to the end of the story, it really needs to be worth it. More work needs to be done on the plotline. November 25, 2011
Wouldn't change a thing. I stumbled onto Big Fish while looking for "I Spy" types of games for my grandchildren. This was the first game I tried, and I was hooked. The graphics are spectacular and the music fitting. The story isn't that important to me, but in my mind, it fit the game perfectly. The difficulty was just right, challenging enough but not frustrating. I enjoyed the game then, as I still do now, It's a keeper. December 12, 2011
A good long game This was a long game with a lot of running back and forth, a lot! This game is about 2 years old so the graphics are not quite crisp, especially in the HO'S. Sometimes with the hint and a magnifying glass I still couldn't locate the object. Not fair! That said: PROS: long playing time Appropriate music good mix of mini games & HO'S A map but not interactive a journal that really helps Cons are mentioned above. My tip for the day - watch out for the red herrings !! November 19, 2012
So Glad it's Over! I have nothing good to say about this game. It was awful. The HO scenes were impossibly difficult, which is no fun. They storyline was very demure, which made the game boring. And the tasks were all over the place in a very broken order. You would leave an area of the game for a long time, then suddenly there would be a HO to solve way back at the beginning. Now I don't care for games that are too linear, but the next step should at least make sense. I am really not even sure why I finished the game. By the end I was miserable. So glad I did not buy the CE, I could not take 1 more minute of this game! October 31, 2012
