A RELAXING/FUN GAME FOR THE DIE HARD FAN OF WIZARD OF OZ
This review is based on the whole game.
The story: This pretty much follows the original of the Wizard of Oz however with a twist in here as your helping save Oz from the evil Victor Vile. The characters and voice overs I found to be very well done. Just awesome!
The graphics I found to be excellent even though a couple of areas were dark but I think that is just to set the mood of the game so to speak.
There are two playing modes to this game: Easy and Expert. I played expert which does have sparkles.
There is also a map however you can't click on it to take you to a location but it will show you where you are and where there is stuff to do. There is some traveling back/forth however maybe have to go back a location or two. It's not like most games where you are wandering all over the place. Also after an area is completed it will show completed.
The hidden object scenes: I found this game to have quite a few different locations where you either find items by a list or fragmented (pieces of items). The majority I found pretty easily only had to use a couple of hints.
There's also puzzles/mini games which I found pretty fun and easy considering I'm not really a fan of puzzles. To get directions on the puzzle click on the ? mark down at the bottom.
The hint/skip take about a couple of minutes.
As for the length of the game which will show you your time down at the bottom took me 4 hours and 7 mins but I'm a slow player and take my time. I have to just check out all the different areas. I'm sure some will finish it sooner but I really enjoyed this game and was long enough for me.
Overall, I give this five stars as I really enjoyed the story, characters, voice overs, and graphics. Most important I'm a die hard fan of The Wizard of Oz. Great job done here.

A fantastic game for fans of OZ
If your a fan of the original story this game doesn't disappoint. It has obviously been created by people who know the story not gust the MGM Film and the visuals are stunning. The game play is pretty easy though and if your good at hidden object games you will complete it very quickly. However the attention to details in terms of story and graphics make up for this!

A decent game based on the story
This is definitely one of those games that you play to pass the time and not use a lot of brain power. That being said...
I liked this game. It is a bit on the short side, but the storyline and graphics make up for it. The voice acting was good, and I am glad for the voice overs. There was also some humor in the dialog. The graphics were superb.
As for the game itself, it was a bit on the easy side. There is almost no need for a walkthrough (although, I did need it at one point because I didn't realize that I had missed a step), and the map tells you where all the hidden object scenes are when they are active. TIP: when you get to an HO scene, try to memorize as many of the objects as you can, because each time you return to the scene, their placement never changes.
There are a few mini games here and there, but those are pretty simple as well once you get the hang of it. I also like the fact that you can use the characters for their special abilities as well. The game is pretty linear and you only return to a scene no more than twice.
Overall, it is a good game for those who enjoy the Wizard of Oz story.

Good Beginners Game
I had planned to buy "Fiction Fixers: The Curse of Oz" now it was a DD, but luckily I played the trial first...
Not that it is a bad game, it is just way to easy for me. Although I'm normally a really really slow player, I played through a good deal more than half of the available map in the one hour trial.
That's why it would be a really good beginners game! There is a nice introduction as to how to play the game, that you can't skip. I always play on a hard level without handholding, but in this game there is no escape.
You play through the storyline from the original book, of course with the addition of Victor Vile.
You find fragmented objects to use on your way along the Yellow Brick Road. They are always in your current scene and just a couple of the ones you've just been through, so there is not too much running back and forth.
There are also hidden object scenes scattered about. These are really really easy clutter scenes, though I must admit it gets closer to the normal challenge level later in the game.
There are some minigames but not many. They are the usual, like lighting lamps in the right order.
They had something new though. As you meet the characters from the book and they join you, they will add skills you can use. That's a nice idea from the developers :-) Almost like in the oldtime RPGs.
I would say that if you are an experienced player then don't buy this, not even if you like Oz.
If you are a beginner and you find the idea of going into the story from the book (and I guess you are, or you wouldn't be reading this :-) then go right ahead! It will give you a very good introduction both to FROGs and HOGs

For HOG Lovers Only
To the point, short and sweet: if you love HOS this is your game. No adventure game. Yes, it is true to the novel, but best to read the book. Nothing more to say, this says it all.

Fiction Fixers: The Curse of Oz
Fun hidden object puzzle adventure - although puzzles/mini games are few and far between - imo could have done with a few more thrown in. Quite a few ho scenes which you do revisit but I never mind that any way. Great voiceovers and great graphics although the ho scenes were a little dark depending on where they were. I enjoyed what puzzles there were although I do wish they'd gone into full screen.
Definitely worth the DD price. I enjoyed this one just as much as the first and hope there'll be some more coming soon.
There's been mention in the game forum of this game only being 2 hours long by someone who hasn't even bought the game. I am quite a fast player but never use hints or skips and this game took me 4 hours 13 minutes to complete.

Disappointing
Played Wonderland fixers and loved it. I thought this would be just as good. Wrong! Easy,boring and I hated the voices. I found myself just wanting it to end and it did very quickly.
It's pretty much just one HO after another so if that's what you like then this might be for you.

Perhaps for young children
Completed the demo in less than the hour. I won't be buying the full version.
Play was no challenge. The game held your hand when playing. You always knew exactly what needed to be done. There was a map, which pointed out where any actions were needed. You got an "Area Completed" sign when finished with an area, which I liked. So you would know when you're coming back to that area. The visuals were okay; the characters and dialog were quite simple. The only "puzzles" were gathering pieces of some object, which required going back to other areas where pieces of the object would flash if they were in the scene). There was also a "Play the Tune" when you got to the Oz door.
Children might find it somewhat amusing.

Easy HOG. Cute story line adapted with a small twist.
This is great for beginners into the world of Hidden Object Game or HOG. The storyline is close to the original Wizard of OZ. I liked the characters but the graphics were not as bright as I expected..though the darkness did set the tone which could have been done with music alone. It did not seem to scare my three year old grand daughter, who watched me play for an hour. She seemed impressed by the crows being scared by the lion.
