Could be improved
Although, I enjoyed the story plot at the beginning and the end, it was not engaging throughout. I spent the first 30 minutes of play just bouncing from place to place to do hidden object puzzles without any connection to the story. There wasn't any interaction with characters except with the missing girls. Adding some townspeople to direct my searches would have made the whole game more enjoyable.

could have been so much more...
i just don't understand this game. it took me forever to finish because i was just so bored, i never really wanted to play it. i actually liked the monochromatic scenery. i thought it gave everything a kind of creepy mood. i just wish they had included background music, or character interaction...or something. also spent a lot of time wandering around the town and other areas. the story didn't flow all that well, in my opinion.
i think they had a great idea, and i loved the mood and scenery. i just wish there had been something to get excited about in this game.

Very gray game
An evil spell has been cast over the town. The people have all locked themselves inside their houses leaving the town looking abandoned. The colors have a gray overcast. The sky is stormy. Other than that the graphics were just okay. The people and animals that you do see are plastic looking. The artists didn't even bother to hitch the horse to the coach in the opening scene. The music gets a little obnoxious at times. I had to get help on a couple of the puzzles. Other than that, an overall fun game.

Intriguing Story and Hidden Objects. Fun to Learn & Play!
Who isn't mesmerized regarding events surrounding the Salem Witch Trials? Found this story quite intriguing and interesting in terms of what various tools used in that era looked like was a plus for me! History was not my strong subject in school and would have been with a computer as such a vivid learning tool! Thank you Game Mill Entertainment and Gunnar Games for going the extra mile to research as well as a fun-to-learn & play experience!

Did not enjoy this at all
Background waterfall noise was so annoying! The whole town was empty?? So confusing why it was empty and so many doors you can't enter?? The graphics were mediocre and the level of challenge was ok only because the mini puzzles were so difficult. Overall..I was disappointed.

mixed feelings about this game
It's not a bad game, but it could have been better. The graphics were pretty basic and at times, towards the edge of the map it reminded me of gaming console games when you get to an area that's off limits, i.e. you've reached the limit of the map. You can always tell by the very sloppy graphics that you can't go somewhere. Except in this game you could go there. For example the snow/mountain area was very disappointing.
The HOS didn't have enough contrast in them, making it very difficult on the eyes. Good thing is there doesn't seem to be a penalty for over-clicking, so go for it!
The hint button is only available for the HOS, not for the rest of the game, so you have to figure out for yourself where to go next, which is sometimes a little confusing. I basically ran around in circles and backtracked until I came across a HOS, which is always an indicator that you're on the right track.
The map helps to orientate you if you get hopelessly lost, but I would have liked to have seen completed areas indicated in some way, like in some other games of this genre. Also, there is no fast-tracking to a particular area, which can be frustrating if you're at one end of the map and need to get to the opposite end. I feel the map could have been better developed.
The storyline is okay, but nothing new. The music was pleasant enough. At least I didn't feel the need to turn it off like in some other games.
Gameplay is fairly long, but that's mainly due to the fact that you can run around in circles for ages, figuring out what to do next or where to use an item.
The puzzles are fairly difficult and I had to skip most of them.
I had to skip through the potion making, as I couldn't get my ingredients to stay on the bench, which was frustrating. I tried at least a dozen times with each ingredient, but no luck.
I'm not sure if that was due to a glitch or due to the fact that you had to be super precise in placing the items on the bench. I could pick up the tools, but couldn't do anything with them. A big let-down.
This was the first game I bought from this series and I'm reluctant to try others. I wish I had tried the demo first.

Truly fun
Hey folks if you like to be immersed in a game where you can actually "feel" like you are contributing to the game, this one is a great way to start. I love the Hidden Mysteries series, I do believe I have purchased them all!!!!

Im happy with it as a Weekly catch
But the fact is, i would have NEVER liked this game full price. Graphics are a little too bad for my liking, the story isnt the best and the music bugged me all the way. Plus some of the puzzles were realy hard. On the plus side it is pretty long, there are lots of find the object scenes and it makes you think a lot. But it got a little boring, the map didint have the names of the places and it was a little useless and it was so much to and fro that i got dizzy. SO for a weekly catch it is ok, but its not a game I would recommed for full price.

Best story line of all my games...
Although I did not like the HOS in this game because the graphics were so dark and the objects were the same colors...I soon found the story so interesting that I plunged on ward and was totally engrossed with the story line. Out of all the fishy games I have played so far I really enjoyed the character of this story.
I would give 5 stars but deduct for the HOS scenes.
