A good game for beginners.
This game was okay. Not one of my favorites but I did enjoy it. I wasn't bothered by the graphics or comic book style artwork as others were in their reviews- thought it was cute. However, the voice-overs were annoying. I skipped through the majority of them. The biggest letdown was the level of ease of the puzzles. Many of them were so easy it was ridiculous. Luckily, the game was a decent length so I wasn't completely disappointed. The storyline was fine. I did like that it allowed for many layers of puzzles to be solved, and a lot of travel throughout the house. The shadow world was cool. Didn't love the ending though. It was pretty lame. Predictable. Not creative at all. I'm glad I only paid $2.99 for this. If you are a more advanced player, I definitely would not recommend buying it for any more than that.

Another Great Game
Nice storyline and wonderful graphics. The puzzles are no difficult. I loved it! I bought this game on December 2010. I like to play as purchase date ordered so I'm still more than a year behind in playing the games I bought.
I was surprise such a great game was today for $2.99.
I had plaid about 250 games now and every single one has something new, like this one.

Very nice
Loved the artwork on this game. I am a real fan of that art deco realist style (I'm making up the name, that's what it makes me think of!), where things are nearly as detailed as a photograph, but look much nicer. :) The characters were cartoon/illustrated, which I like better than wasting a lot of time, money and memory on actors or 'realistic' animation.
Game play was good; a nice mix of HOS, adventure to-and-fro, and puzzles. Good map showing active areas and allowing jumping, which is such an excellent idea, and has been around for so long, that I'm starting to look down on games that don't have it. Flipping back and forth from real world to shadow world doubled the game length without doubling the artwork needed; some people might think this lazy or repetitive, but I liked seeing the differences between rooms. (Shadow teddy bears!) And they mixed up the arrangement of rooms between the two floor plans, which I thought was fun.
Only downside was a LOT of voiceovers, which I HATE. Not only did you not get a separate volume level for voice, but turning down the music and effects did not seem to affect the voice; it was like they were yelling at me from a hushed room. So I don't really know what the other sound was like since I had to turn my speakers off. But you can click through the dialogue and they will stop talking when you do, and the cutscenes (are they still called that when there's little to no movement?) were mercifully short. So that did not detract much from the game.
All in all I liked it very much!

A Refreshing Change from Photo'd HOS
It took me a while to get used to the graphics instead of photographed HO scenes which I am more used to. I guessed correctly one thing straight away, but I won't say what it was. It in no way spoilt the game, in fact it made it more enjoyable. I liked the map idea. What could have been perhaps more fun would be to collect the raven's feathers, he certainly scattered plenty flying ahead through the portals. I again got this on a special Bigfish deal, and it was well worth the money. One thing I suggest is play both as a female character and as a male character in tandem because sometimes you get so far, and then you are stuck. By the time you've played your second persona to the same point, you probably will have sussed one or two things out. I give this game a high rating.

Entertaining
Hard to give raving review. One of those "good but not great, not bad" Hard to put my finger on it. Graphics were good, not great. Voice overs (wonderful to have in any game) were good. The puzzles were too simplistic (I love puzzles). HOS were monochromic which made it difficult to identify objects at times. Again with language differences, looking for football, found soccer ball (foosball maybe?) there were a few others that were notable. The map made it very easy to go from scene to scene. Whenever I take a break I always forget what I was doing. The map had icons that showed what was going on at the time. Overall a great deal for $2.99 (DD), but would not have been thrilled if paying full price, entertaining, good for a slow day. Personally, I wish they would put a skip button on the HOG for those of us that play the games for the adventure and investigation.

Pretty Good
This was a pretty good game. It wasn't too hard and I was able to finish it without a strategy guide. But the graphics are not very good, some are drawn, and some hidden object scenes are all green or blue, so you just have to click around or use hints. I fairly enjoyed it, but it was a little strange for my taste, and I didn't care for how it kept going from the present world to a shadowy, ghostly world.

Pleasant Surprise!
I'm having a LOT of fun with this game. At first I wasn't sure I'd like it, but the more I play, the more I get drawn in. Although I don't time game play, I think it's a fairly long game. I am about half way through, but wanted to get this review in before the sale goes off.
Very original, so far I've seen nothing to compare it to.There is a lot of stuff to do, but it can be confusing. It took a little time to get used to the map. Most mini games were on the easy side, some without instructions, but I thought they were obvious. Graphics are old school but they seem to fit with storyline. Only one game level. Sorry, I can't speak to voice overs or music as I keep mine muted. If you want something different, then you have to try this game. It's definitely worth the price!

Unexpectedly WONDERFUL! A very charming game
I love HOG's, and especially ones with good stories and lots of mini games. Because this didn't look like a large file game, I almost didn't try it. Luckily, I did. It is delightfully different in format from so many of the other games, and yet very engrossing with lots of new types of mini games. I particularly like the complexity of the story and going back and forth between "worlds". The map is extremely helpful and makes navigating so much easier, so that one doesn't spend so much time backtracking and getting lost. Instead, you can spend your time solving the HOS and the mini-games. The narration is really good, and you can choose to be male or female. I haven't even finished the game but I felt I had to tell others what fun this game is.
