A Different take on HOG
This is a review of the demo.
Jodie Drake is a travel photographer and you travel around the world loking for interesting photos.
The different take on an HOG is achieved through the use of a photographic approach to hidden object scenes. It gives a purpose to searching for random objects.
The graphics are good but not great.
The cutscenes have VO but not in the game itself - annoying when lips move and no sound, you can skip through the text quickly.
There are several levels to each stage comprising the HOS and puzzles.
The HOS consist of silhouettes, missing pieces or a straight list of objects.
The puzzle scenes are interesting (labyrinth, connecting pipes, jigsaws etc) but are not that challenging.
There are a choice of modes - timed play or relaxed.
There are unlimited hints but it takes 30 seconds to refresh.
Sound FX are good and music is not annoying.
Overall I recommend this game, if like to find different ways to approach HOGs.

Interesting Approach
This is a review of the demo. It's more like a 2 and a half star rating. The game so far hasn't completely grabbed me, but I like the photography approach to hidden object scenes. It gives a purpose to searching for random objects.
The graphics are good but not great. The people are not wonderfully drawn. They are paper doll cut outs for both the cut scenes and the game play, but the cut scenes have pretty decent voice overs. However, their lips don't move in the cut scenes.
The game play scenes also have paper doll cut outs of the characters for mono/dialogs, but in these scenes their lips move, but there is no voice over. This I found distracting, but it can be ignored after awhile. I think they should have reversed the scenes when the lips move.
The puzzle scenes are interesting and not that challenging. They are designed for a timed play, and you can choose timed play or relaxed mode. In relaxed mode the puzzles are quite easy. The game gets points for having a choice of modes.
The hidden objects are variant in size and tend toward "life size". So, insects or some symbols can be quite small. The graphics are generally OK, if a little fuzzy at times, and I found myself using the hint button (which is quite innovative with how it becomes part of a camera flash) a little too often for my taste. It takes 30 seconds to refresh.
Sound FX are good and music is not intrusive and set at a low volume by default. I think the music fit with the locations well.
The story draws you in slowly and plays kind of like a travelogue. If you like to travel you get to see some loosely interpreted scenes of exotic places, which makes the game more fun. There's danger hinted at in the beginning before the game flashes back to play through the events leading up to the apparent danger. Game play hints at being average in total length, with each chapter having several levels to complete.
Overall I recommend this game, if you're hard core and like to find different ways to approach HOGs.

Female with a name of DRAKE????
Jodie Drake a photographer, is conned into aiding the evil professor Bergan and his cohorts while travelling around the world and has to thwart his attempts to become 'master of the world'.
This game, to me, was not very inspiring and it took a long time for me to just accept it. The cut scenes were like a talking comic book but in the general game there was only reading and no voice overs. The graphics were only just serviceable and I was far from impressed. The puzzles were fairly simple and were the same old, same old with matching pairs, connecting pipes, spot the differences, dark mazes ect, nothing really new. The hidden objects were a bit better with the standard list type quite good and at least the taking of pictures aspect was not like some of the other games like taking pictures of a broken tile, a piece of guttering, a shoe lace and other uninteresting stuff. The shape type were a lot harder and sometimes almost impossible to detect in amongst all the other superfluous paraphernalia. Not the best game I've played but I saw it through but I can only barely give it the three stars.

hidden object photography is an unusual idea
in this hidden object game, you are a talented photographer who travels to faraway places to photograph ancient ruins for a magazine. after your first assignment to photograph some ruins in paraguay, you are recruited by Professor Bergen to photograph more ancient sites in exotic locales such as egypt, greece and china. unfortunately, professor bergen has something evil up his sleeve ....
graphics: colourful but amateurish, nothing exceptional. the hidden object scenes consist of search lists, silhouettes, or missing pieces. in almost every scene, there was one or two items that are really challenging to see, some of which were really tiny, and that certainly added challenge. puzzles consist of labyrinths, jigsaw puzzles, connecting pipes and ?spot the differences? (and some of those differences are truly small!). the puzzles are not too difficult although playing on timed mode can add some challenge.
music and sound effects: the music is quiet and appropriate for each scene. weirdly, there are voice overs accompanying the cut scenes between chapters but the people?s lips don?t move whereas all cut scenes between levels within each chapter are scripted only (no voice overs) but the people?s lips DO move! other than this peculiar quirk, these scenes are of acceptable quality.
storyline: presumably, the photographer (you!) are in some sort of danger, but nothing ever seems to happen that is dangerous. the storyline almost feels like an afterthought at times.
gameplay: there are two modes: relaxed and timed. there is an overclick penalty, but hints are unlimited and take 30 seconds to recharge -- and you can see the recharge timer. mini-games and puzzles weren?t that difficult to complete, even on timed mode. achievements are awarded. there are six chapters and i made it to the end of chapter two in one hour.
my interaction: one hour demo, timed mode. thanks to the special discounted price, i purchased this game, which i would not have done otherwise.
this game kind of grew on me. at first, i was bored, but the travel and photography ideas are an interesting twist on the HO theme, so i thought i?d give this game a chance. so far, the game is ok, but i wouldn?t pay full price for it. that said, this is a good game for youngsters, and could pique their interest in travel, history and other cultures.

Found somewhere under the newspaper?
Sorry, but this game was made back in the stone age. I didn't even make it through the whole Demo. For $2.99 though, it is a bargain if you want to hone your HO Skills. For me, I would rather play some of my older games I already own. Thanks but no thanks.

grew tired of it
The picture-taking was a nice twist on finding HO, and the puzzles were interesting. But I'm not a fan of straight HO games and there wasn't enough other content to keep me interested. If you like straight HO games without the adventure I'd give it a try.

Just OK
I was not that impressed with this game. I think that it would be great for someone younger. I would definitely recommend for a younger audience.

Rubbish.
Boring, artwork is abysmal, same old theme to the storyline, too many dumb cutscenes and HOS are sad.
