another good entry in IHOG I really liked the Void game so I felt if Raincliff were its equal that would be a good thing. Well, Raincliff surpasses its predecessor. It is a long game with lots of back and forth throughout the venues to be explored. The storyline is a bit more plausible than the Void although the player must suspend belief to a degree. The HOG scenes are a bit better than average and the puzzles aren't too tough. Though not on a par with the MCF games, the devs of Raincliff have put out a really professional entry into the IHOG realm. Since there is this special price for the top 60 games of the year, now is a great time to add this one to your repertoire. December 27, 2011
Mystery Trackers, not to be compared with Mystery Case Files The reviews that the Mystery Trackers games were as good as Mystery Case Files had me excited, since MCF is my standard for incredibly awesome games. This 'Raincliff' game, however, is lacking. Unless you find yourself using random items for unconventional uses on a daily basis, you may find the item use just as confounding as I did. It got to where my froggy helper became my guide for every item use because it made little to any sense. The story is fascinating, but could have been more developed; especially considering the great length of the game #6 hours, y'all!#. Perhaps this is because I bought the SE, the CE may have a more satisfying ending. I did enjoy the main character's attitude immensely- he just can't be put down! Puzzles are a moderate challenge until the ones near the end. By that point, things get crazy and the skip button became a new best friend for me. There are MANY items to get, and they are not always obvious. HOS sites are sometimes harder to find than a prairie chicken in a grass field. If you really, really, really need a game that will kill time, and if you do not get flustered easily by nitty gritty details, you may like this. For a cleaner game experience, go elsewhere. Too many things going on After completing mystery trackers: The Void, which i absolutely loved i wanted to get another game in the series. Unfortunately, Raincliff wasnt what i hoped it would be. There are simply too many things going on at the same time that it becomes too confusing to keep track of all the items that you need and what to use them for. There are several steps to finding one item and unlocking one puzzle and before actually solve a puzzle, 2-3 more need to be solved before you can finish the first. I found the confusion to be more annoying than entertaining. Also the video log to keep track of your progress isnt as great as it sounds. I prefer the original journal that all other games in this category have. The story was interesting and original and the effects were pretty good. There were more puzzles that hidden object games, making this game a bit unbalanced. In short, this isnt a game that i would play again, at least not for a while. If you're looking for a game to pass the time between work and study, this ISN'T it, as you seriously need to sit down and make time for this game, because it is not easy at all and sometimes it feels like it is impossible to solve without a walkthrough. not great but good No voice over, graphic are ok. The HOS are good and the puzzles are ok. There is going from one area to another to find things to use. The hint button I did not like at all. Some help. There are lots of extras in the CE to find which makes for more fun. May 6, 2013
One of the most frustrating and boring games I have played My review seems to go against the tide here but I really couldn't understand this game - despite playing 2/3rds of it! I have never given up on a game so far in before. It just seemed to get more confusing and frustrating as I went on. The mini-puzzles became impossible and very samey and out-numbered the quite good HOGs. I would pick up tools and not have any idea what they were for so found myself consulting the hint button too much. A typical example is this: at one stage I had a "disk saw" in my inventory for hours (it's called an angle grinder in the UK) which needed a disk. So I was pleased to find a disk which I thought went with it, only to find that the disk in question was used as a puzzle piece somewhere else. In this game you had to do the strangest things - like make sand from a bit of stone which I had to grind through a meat grinder and put in some paper (to be made from the paper airplane in my inventory)! I believe that earlier I actually dug through sand down in the sewer - in other games I would have got some sand from that pile - not made it! The icy lake was very confusing as the Hint Button said I needed an "Ice Drill". I didn't have one so after much travelling back and forth looking around again (there is a lot of it in this game and no map and no indication you are done with an area!) I downloaded the Strategy Guide. There it said to take the "Fishing Auger" to the ice to drill the hole for me - but why didn't the Hint say I needed a "Fishing Auger"? Why did I need a Strategy Guide and, most of all, a DICTIONARY to understand my own Inventory! (We don't do a lot of ice fishing in London). The convoluted thought processes this game required were so time-consuming and tiring I just gave up. And the constant whooshing background sounds just gave me another headache! When I silenced it I lost all the puzzle sounds as well as the background and game sounds had not been separated. I don't think I will try another Mystery Trackers after this one. Time is too short for frustrating games when Blue Tea Games are an option. February 2, 2013
I couldn't even play this. I downloaded the free trial version of this game, and boy am I glad I did. Although the storyline was intriguing, I played for only five minutes before I deleted it off of my computer. I hated that every time I clicked something I needed to find a tool to make it work or get the object. This happened for NINE interactive zones in a row. It was on the tenth click that I found something to use..;but not where to use it Needing to find a tool or two is one thing, but this game took that to the limit. Why do i need to find a tool to remove a piece of paper sticking out of plaster?! I can do that with my hands. DONE. June 30, 2012
It was pretty good, but....... I think this game has potential..but I spent the majority of my time lost and using the hint/help button way too much. The HO scenes were great (very challenging). I just found the overall adventure of it to be too constantly back tracking and the logics of how to use the inventory items to be too vague..(caught myself scratching my head and thinking "that doesn't make much sense). It is a game that you REALLY have to think about and can't just sit and play. I also found some of the puzz;le scenes to be rather confusing.....Having said all of that, it is definitely a challenging game...and I DID enjoy it, just required a little more brain power than I was expecting! lol Reminded me very much os Dire's Grove! Bring along some friends... I enjoyed the Void so much that I purchased this game sight, unseen. However, after playing for awhile, I became very frustrated with piles of inventory objects I couldn't use, and a myriad of blinking locations, requiring wandering all over the place into every nook and cranny. As I reached the middle of the game, I found myself hitting the HELP button frequently. To me, this doesn't make for a fun experience. I see that a large number of masochistic players think it is a wonderful game, but I'm with the minority that found the back-and-forth concept unappealing. I will definitely test the current Mystery Tacker game before I buy it! March 29, 2012
Bad Program Only did the trial and every thing I clicked on needed a key or a tile or something but never got anywhere to find needed items. The three HO I came across were not of much use in getting needed items. June 16, 2012
Save your money.... All the puzzles were rotate three, which I hate. The tips weren't tips as much as they were directions on where to go and what to do next. I wouldn't buy this game again or recommend it. May 5, 2012
