Ravenhearst spooky yet fun. Mystery Casle Files Ravenhearst is one of the best Hidden Object Games that I have played since Huntsville and Madame Fate. When I first time I played Ravenhearst game I was little freaked out about by how spooky the game is hearing voice of Emma urging you on to save her. I love this type of game that you can play over and over again and yet get different objects to look for. Make sure you get Return to Ravenhearst as well. I'm excited for the next installment of Ravenhearst saga: Mystery Case Files Escape from Ravenhearst; which is coming very soon.. November 15, 2011
Just a hidden object game. While the graphics weren't too bad, I was expecting a hidden object ADVENTURE game like the other Mystery Case Files. I played Dire Grove and 13th Skull. Both were really great. I really want to play Escape from Ravenhearst, but thought I should play the previous installments first so that I know what is going on with the story. I probably won't even finish this one and just move on to the next because I know that one is an adventure game. This one is boring. December 29, 2011
My 1st Big Fish Purchase This was my first purchase with BFG back in 2007.....and I havent regretted it. This is where we first encounter Emma and Charles.....it was an eerie but fun game.....and it kept you on your toes......literally......who knew there would be many more games to follow this one. The mini-games are fun (a tad bit difficult but what isnt)......there are forums to help when you need it. The story is very well played.....some parts made me sad then angry.....there is nothing I didnt like about the game (except for one character). I suggest you start here before you play any of the other Ravenhearst series so you wont be lost. But also play the other MCF games in-between to keep up with current affairs.....you wont regret it. I must add it made me love hidden object games more......so go for it. November 23, 2011
Love this Hidden Object Game This is one of the first (of many) Hidden Object games I purchased. The graphics are great as is the hidden objects - it really makes you think! Great for the older generation to keep their wits about them. I love this game. I'm 56yrs old! November 16, 2011
I Hated It...... I first played MCF's Return to Ravenhearst, which is actually the sequel to this game. After finishing with that one, I bought this game because I wanted to experience the story from the beginning. Big mistake. This game is NOTHING like Return to Ravenhearst. It's not an adventure game. It's strictly a junk pile/cluttered room hidden object game. The graphics are poor and the HOS scenes are so grainy it's extremely difficult to make out many of the objects. And the door lock puzzles were absolutely horrible! Those puzzles were completely incomprehensible to me and there was no instruction or help on what to do. In order to justify the purchase of this game, I quite literally suffered through it, but just barely. November 25, 2011
a good game Yes it is all HOS but still a good game. February 19, 2013
Not Worth the Eyestrain I downloaded this game to remember it, and to see if I wanted to buy the sequels. Turns out I had forgotten because nature had drawn a merciful veil over the memory of my first playthrough. The H0 scenes are ugly piles of junk, blurry and not very well drawn. The silhouette type puzzles at the end of each chapter had my eyes stinging and watering even more than the H0 scenes. And to cap it off, the story shows a young woman born to be a victim; she's so stupid, I wonder how she made it through teacher's college. November 28, 2011
Mayzy's Review- Mystery Case Files: Ravenhearst After getting involved in hidden object games, I was very excited to play Ravenhearst. After all, it's ALL OVER bigfishgames.com, so it must be good, right? I love a good spooky game and was eager to get started. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. For me, it is important that hidden object games have some sort of sense and visual appeal to the scenes. The ugly junk piles with the same objects over and over just don't appeal to me. The game lost major points in my book for the haphazard, illogical messes that it calls hidden object games. That said, I really enjoyed the door locks. While the Rube Goldberg-esque puzzles might not have been 100% logical, they were definitely unique! I really appreciated the little details, such as the pictures that didn't technically have anything to do with the lock, but which moved and made noise when clicked on. The spooky factor was fairly minimal. It was more of a murder-mystery than a ghost story, though the sound effects did add a nice chilly effect. The ending was pretty easy to anticipate after the fourth or fifth diary entry. Overall it was a decent game, but I'm afraid that, for me at least, it just didn't live up to the hype. Ok But Showing Its Age I bought this game because I just became aware of the Mystery Case Files series, and I want to play all of them. With this particular game I feel like if I'd played it 3 or 4 years ago I'd be giving it a higher rating. It's definitely not as fun as the more recent installments. For one, this is more straight up HOG, rather than the Adventure/HOG mix that the series has become. Also the graphics are definitely showing their age. They were pixelated and blurry on my 1440x900 monitor. The atmosphere and story were quite creepy though, so I'm looking forward to playing the sequels. The hidden object scenes were challenging, and the door puzzles quirky, but some of them were a bit too hard. November 28, 2011
Glad it was half price Oh dear, minimal storyline mostly hogs and door lock puzzles, though these door lock puzzles were the only enjoyable part of this game for me. The HOGS were very cluttered with limited hints and if you don't complete the level in time you have to restart the level from the beginning with yet more cluttered clues. I spent a long time looking for a sling, when I finally gave up and used a precious hint I was directed to a slingshot. Yes, I am very glad I only paid half price February 24, 2013
