"What happened with the newlyweds afterwards?" That's the question you're going to ask yourself after you complete the game. It seems that the developers put so much effort into creating endless scenes and all sort of objects (i never had to find so many keys!) that they forgot to complete the story. Anyway, story aside, this game provides a challenge that is only enjoyable for those who have the deduction skills and patience. My rating drops 1 start because i have neither of those. Great Game..right up to the end. I really enjoyed this HOG. I didn't play in the "Casual" mode, which is a first for me. But, it was fine. I didn't need any sparkly areas to tell me where to look next. The HINT button was great although it didn't work for the mini-puzzles, and there were a few where I really could have used it! The story line was interesting, music ok, graphics good - not too dark. My only problem came with the ending. When I finished the final puzzle, the demon was defeated but I don't know why or how!?! And, the ending was just too abrupt, a few pictures only with no dialog. Maybe it was my computer or a flaw in the down load, but I did find the ending to be disappointing. I'm going to get the next one with one of my game credits; I'm looking forward to it. October 8, 2012
It's Okay I guess... The Good: - Menacing villain, evil, well drawn, sinister sounds, truly scary - Flash-back theme works well - Interesting & varied locations - No punishments for missed clicks - Can skip puzzles - Tons of puzzles & HOS - Game is very long - Good graphics & sound - Many frequent cut scenes The Bad: - Lack of characters made for quite a lonesome experience - Almost every accomplishment leads to yet another HOS - Quite a bit of back tracking - Sometimes not knowing where to go next - Seldom more than 1 or 2 objects in inventory makes for a linear game - All the roaming & wandering prevented you from really getting into the full experience of the game - There was LITERALLY No Ending. You clicked for the last move & got a still frame ending. No story resolve, no wrap up, nothing more... The Bottom Line: Sure there were a ton of good puzzles, tons of HOS, some interesting locations & some mediocre object exchange, but overall it just seemed like a bunch of puzzles thrown into an okay storyline. I wish there were more characters to talk with. I also wish there was less backtracking, perhaps by providing more objects to choose from at the same time. This probably would have prevented that one-trick pony feeling. And an ending would really have been nice. The bottom line is there are far more better games out there (please see my other reviews) with more heart. And while this certainly is far from the worst I've played, I would recommend saving it for a rainy day. August 25, 2012
Addictive Playing This is easily one of the better games I've played recently. It actually had all the elements working for it, rather than being superb at one or two things and falling down elsewhere - the quality here was excellent across the board. Your locations are stunning, and the atmosphere is enhanced by the music and the 'creepy' sounds that crop up from time to time, but it never really #for me# crossed into that creep-factor that a lot of games aim for, and frankly it's nice. The fear here is all about the plot and the hidden things. Apart from your 'demon guide' - whose appearance is suitably dark and twisted - no attempts are made at bring you into a dark, grungy place for no good reason. As you explore your childhood home, and flashes of your sister's memories as you try to find out what happened leading up to her disappearance, it is the well-told story that gives you the worry and the desire to press on, through scenes that juxtapose our lead character's horror by being generally picturesque. The only issue I had #and it's a small one# is that near the end some of the dialogue gets a little bit clunky, and there's one line that made me roll my eyes. You'll know it when you see it. And you should see it, because I really, strenuously recommend this game. Even the plot completion at the end felt much better than a lot of games, a little rushed perhaps, and leaving plenty open, hopefully to be explored in the sequals, but still giving you the reward of having accomplished your sleuthing and discovering what's going on behind the scenes. A truly great game, and I'm loading up the sequal as I type. Can't wait :D July 16, 2012
Love this game I've had this game for a while, but am only now getting to play it and review it. I purchased it straight after playing the demo, as I liked it so much. There are 3 modes of play - casual, advanced and hardcore. I'm playing on casual, and I'm enjoying the level of challenge. The HOS are great, not too obvious, but not too difficult either. As I've said in other reviews, when there's a mystery to solve, I prefer my HOS not to be impossibly difficult, but still challenging, so as not to spend forever on the HOS. The storyline is great - I love that you're able to enter into your sister's memories. The graphics are delightful, and the music is pleasant and unintrusive. I'm thinking that, like Blue Tea, Elephant Games are rising to the top of my list of great game developers. I have also purchased Grim Tales: The Legacy and will be happily playing that once I have finished The Bride. I haven't finished the game yet, so I can't say if it is a long game - but length of play isn't always a top priority for me, enjoyment of the game is more important to me. May 19, 2012
not the greatest at the start i thought it was awesome and as i got futher on in the game it started getting really boring. i was extremley unhappy with the ending. May 11, 2012
awfully big but very good This is a VERY large program, almost 700mb. If I had seen that before, I might not have tried it, but, having tried it for that first tantalizing hour... I was hooked. Good sound, good graphics, enough help, but just frustrating enough to make you feel you earned the win. February 3, 2012
Fun and Challenging The game was fun and the art work was beautiful. The music was edgy and felt pushed to solve the mystery, but loved it. A lot of running back and forth between scenes trying to get pieces and putting them where they belonged. December 4, 2011
BRILLIANT! This game was fantastic, full of mystery and also thrilling and abit of romance as well. Though i felt that i shouldve bought the collectors instead of standard edition but was sceptical in paying double the price. But all in all a brilliant game visual effects graphics and music absolutely brilliant! =) Would recommend to get it! December 4, 2011
Good Adventure, Puzzle, Hidden Object Game This game had a great story and game play was fun. Not too scary, quite light despite the story line. Normal hidden object scenes with a list of things to find. Good graphics and game length. November 28, 2011
