A Truly Original & First Class Production Set In The Present This game is so good in so many ways, I'll have to resort to itemising if I'm to get you to read it. 1. STORY - Original!! And set in the electronic age! And CREEPY! Contestants have disappeared within the sets of a reality program - your job is to find out what happened - and it's soon obvious that something really freaky is going on. 2. HUMOUR - like the leopard in the bathroom and the "That only works in reality shows", this game takes the mickey (gently) out of everyone's favourite TV genre (personally you wouldn't catch me dead watching reality TV). 3.HIGHEST QUALITY ARTWORK - it's fabulous, top of the range, and it's colourful AND modern. Not a medieval weapon in sight - okay, well, maybe a couple, but they were relevant to the story in that one scene. 4. SOUNDS - this game doesn't rely so much on music to set your skin crawling - sometimes the silence is more ominous, and when the scary music does kick in, you'll jump. Also, to add urgency, some of the most intense moments are enhanced by the sounds of the modern age that drive us all nuts - think chainsaws. 5. HELPFUL HINT JOURNAL & MAP that you must use or you'll be the one lost. 6. ORIGINAL INTERESTING PUZZLES that will twist your brain in knots, with, thankfully, a speedy skip button. Lots of HO scenes, but twice as many puzzles. 7. FAST PACED, CHALLENGING & LONG - There are reviewers in these pages that disagree me on this last point but I just don't get them at all. I'm an experienced intermediate player and I've never seen a game like it. I was totally out of my league. It took me 8 hours and near the end I was suffering major battle fatigue. This is something really special. Even if it is too hard for me now, I'll be playing it again in the hopes that I'll learn how to be worthy of it. January 21, 2012
A very good game Another good game from Elephant, I loved raincliff as well and lost. What I love about this game: - An interactive map, so rare in games so thank you! - A help system in the map, that shows you currently areas that you can do things in - Completely different areas, and scenery, so it's contained each chapter - Obvious chapters, so I can take a break and not have a headache remembering things in areas as each chapter is different - No hint penalty for HOG scenes - Not many hog scenes - Lots of puzzles (although some button/slide were glitchy to me) - The cutscenes were amazing, just like Raincliff - The feel of it was so different and unique - This game was long to me - wonderful! Kudos on an excellent, different game that wasn't a CE first. If it had different levels of challenge with the option of no sparkles at all (they weren't the migraine shower kind) I would give it an A. November 19, 2011
One of the best games Urban Legends: The Maze is one of the best games this year. Very challenging and long. My husband even played this one. He was so engrossed and involved in it he took over my computer. I recommend this one for all lovers of this genre. The walk through is available, however, the hint system helps out enough to get you past problem areas. GREAT FUN. November 16, 2011
Terrific game and super-long! Wow! Typically I plow through HOS games in about 2-3 hours, but this took me a solid 5. By the end of the game, I even got a little impatient, thinking "Come ON, let's finish this already!" (In a good way, of course!) Nothing really struck me as particularly bad or irritating--visuals were great, and the plot and setup was pretty clever. Overall, pretty highly recommended! November 19, 2011
Middle of the Pack in a Sea of HOGs As a story line, it was unique. You play as a detective who has to help four reality show contestants escape from the grips of an ostensibly crazed man. You will wander through booby-trapped sets on a TV lot solving puzzles and HOGs in an effort to achieve this end. On the plus side, the developers gave a great map to help you determine where you are in the game and if there are any objectives left to complete in an area. Also, game play was very straight forward. On the down side, puzzles and HOGs were only moderately challenging. If anything, when I found myself challenged with a puzzle it was because I was thinking it was harder than what it really was. Also, there were technical issues with the soundtrack dropping out regularly, which unfortunately took away from the game environment. Net, this game is okay if you are looking for a unique story line, but may leave you wanting more in terms of challenge. There are other games that fulfill these qualities better, but on sale this title would be decent way to spend a rainy afternoon. December 8, 2011
Not for me but I'm in the minority Normally I love Elephant Games but this time I'm going to go against the grain of the most of the reviews. I was underwhelmed. The graphics were grainy although the artwork was well done; when the cut scenes played they whooshed in & out so fast it made me nauseous. The interactive map is excellent & the hint recharges in 30 seconds & is useful if you get stuck as it lets you know what to do next. I thought the H0 signs were a bit of a junkpile but not too difficult to find objects. There is no choice of mode to play so expect sparkles & glints for areas of interest. Sadly not a game for me but as so many people loved it I will recommend as you should try the demo for yourself. December 19, 2011
Solid game Unusual setting, very well done. The story had potential, but the plot was too undeveloped to keep me truly engaged. Gameplay was extremely smooth. Just the right amount of Hidden Object scenes, which were generally relevant to what was going on and not too hard on the eyes. The puzzles varied in type and difficulty level. Movement via the map was very helpful, as the order in which various tasks could be completed was the biggest challenge in the game. Overall, a good, solid game, well worth a try. November 21, 2011
Urban Legends: The Maze is aMAZEing This is one of the top games I've played this year. I can't wait for the sequel. There were so many puzzles that I haven't seen before and the HOs were challenging, but not impossible. I especially liked the seamless transitions between the scenes and the map that allowed you to jump to locations instead of backtracking. There were surprises at every turn. This is one of the longer games due to all the puzzles and since I got it at the $2.99 sale I was pleasantly entertained. Thanks Big Fish and more Elephant Games please! December 3, 2011
Couldn't wait for the end Oh, the irony! Urban Maze was an incredibly lo-o-o-ong game, which normally would have been a big plus. But I found the visuals so poorly rendered and the overall plot / characters so distasteful that I couldn't wait to get to the end. The characters were wooden, 2-D and idiotic or just plain "creepy" without any depth. On the plus side was the game map which really helped show not just where you were located but also where you still had tasks to accomplish. And many of the games were very fun. What killed it for me were the horrible flat graphics and just the overall nastiness of the whole endeavor. Ugh. March 2, 2012
Creepy Weird Fun This game was quite creepy and spooky, but I quite enjoy that kind of thing. Game was very fun and interesting. It was unpredictable, which I quite liked. Beautiful graphics, creepy sound effects. Puzzles were good but a few of them were too hard and some not hard enough. Still I definitely recommend this game, especially to people who like creepy games. November 18, 2011
