Fun and Imaginative As a casual player, I like a game that moves quickly and keeps the story moving. This game was fun and imaginative. The puzzles were logical yet required some degree of out of the box thinking I had to turn the music down as I found it annoying, but other than that, this game was a pleasure. It's not of the caliber of Enigmatis, but is worth a play. April 2, 2013
One of the better ones I like the hidden object games that are more challenging. The hidden objects aren't so obvious. Whoever created this one did a good job hiding the objects within objects. Great graphics, good story. I like the games that allow you to "jump" between locations, this one doesn't do that, so you have to physically move from location to location. Not a terrible hardship because this game has a map, you really can't get lost. Nice try on the action part (slaying with a sword) but not exactly thrilling or challenging. No big deal. Fun game! My first review because I think this game deserves it. March 31, 2013
Good but predictable IMHO the game is good. Love the story spin. The graphics are beautiful, the voice-acting is decent (although i found at some points can be quite jarring and over-the-top) and the game-play is easy enough. The mini games are manageable - i did not use the skip button....much. Every now and then one may need to use the Hint option to find out where to go or what to do....but other than that, the Hint button doesn't let on much - hence giving the game a bit of a challenge. However i do find the story a bit too short. I bought the SE version. I was curious to know what happens next in the CE version so i sneaked into the walk-through pages to find out. It didn't spur me into getting the CE though. All in all, i would say this a good game. Not excellent to a point i would rave about it, but not a waste of money. Buy it if it's on sale. What a Delight Nice graphics, and sound throughout, although the wicked enchantress's voice and cackle got on my nerves. She's not in it enough to ruin the game entirely. I simply fell in love with little old Spindler (the morose mechanical puppet doomed to a life of spinning yarn and knitting for others) and kept clicking on him to hear more of his one liners. i.e. "There used to be a mirror up here, but it broke, probably because of my reflection." Very funny and cute, and another cutie is the "bounty hunted" leprechaun character. Now I've got to point out that I'm NOT a spider fan, and if the fun factor hadn't been added in with the extra characters, this game might have creeped me out. I played the SE in Hard mode, and really only had to check the walkthrough (which, at this time, is not on BFG) to help me find a rose in one of the mini games, and then another time to find out what a turkish delight was. Who knew? There was a good variety of HOGs and puzzles and places to go, and play lasted several hours. The puzzles were pretty easy, but the HOGs were a decent challenge. This game might be too easy in regular mode, but I wasn't able to find out because I couldn't switch modes back and forth in this game, as in some others (hence the need to find a walkthrough). All in all, it was quite enjoyable to play and I only wish I could have kept Mr Spindler to place on my desktop, and click occasionally for a good chuckle. February 19, 2013
Refreshing! This was a great game. The visuals were great and the game provided a satisfying mix of Hidden Objects and puzzles. The puzzles weren't too challenging to the point of frustration. I did have to use the hints to assist in where to go/what to do next, which I found refreshing because it wasn't formulaic. This was the first game in a long time that I was completely happy that I purchased! January 21, 2013
Beautiful Story Line I loved this story. The music was right on track and the graphics were top notch. You have a map to help and 3 levels of play. Lots of interaction with different things. The only thing I would critique is that the HO's were not crisp like I like and I had to use a few hints. Other than that, this is a great game that you can really get into. As soon as it's on sale, I'll be buying the CE. January 4, 2013
Interesting continuation of the Beauty and the Beast story This game picks up after the story of Beauty and the Beast, introducing an evil enchantress as the antagonist. I got this mainly because I really enjoyed the first game in this series: Phantom of the Opera. The artwork looks nice but a little washed out; it does a good job of conveying a magical sense of wonder. I was pleasantly surprised by how whimsical a couple of the hidden object scenes were; there was a small animal's cosy little home under a tree root, complete with tea party. There was also humour in the form of some characters whining about their lives. I didn't expect this after the seriousness of Phantom of the Opera, but as this game is based on a fairy tale, it's appropriate. There is a map that shows you where there are actions to do. I used this a lot to check for new hidden object scenes popping up in old locations and as well as small inventory items I might have missed. The hidden object scenes look nice, and the puzzles are fairly standard fare for the most part until the end, where there are a couple of arcade-style ones (involving spiders; warning for the arachnophobes). A pretty good game, although not exceptional, but short! I finished it in about 3 hours and I took my time. December 31, 2012
The Beauty is not a Beast! This was a delightful game with lots of hog. The storyline was pleasant, with a wee twist - gaining "soul shards" in which a mini hog of roses had to be done. There was usually one rose a little more difficult to find in each one of the rose hog. The regular hog were generally good. I played on normal as I play these games to relax, and with the help of the outline of the object, I was able to find the rare item I otherwise may not have seen. The music was pleasant. I usually turn off the sound and just play the game, but I found I actually preferred to play this game with the sound on! The graphics were nicely done. I enjoyed looking at the artwork that the artists obviously worked hard on. The game play was good and not too short. I enjoy taking my time on the games, and not trying to race through them to see how fast I can get them done. Even if I tried to "whip through" I would have found it to be a decent amount of game play. I am looking forward to going backwards and playing the Phantom of the Opera that Play Pond makes! It sounds even better than this one! December 12, 2012
Meh This game was okay. I played it on expert and it took 2.5 hours. That is way too short for the money, especially on expert. The graphics were nice, but the game itself was a bit boring. You knew what you had to do, and where to go. No challenge. If it was a long game, I wouldn't have minded so much, but this game really wasn't worth the money. December 11, 2012
Loved this game! Top notch game. Great story, beautiful graphics and excellent HO's. My only wish is that I had gotten the CE on this one. December 7, 2012
