Echoes of the Past: The Citadels of Time
Formulaic "find the keys"
Too many keys to find, too many "non-sensical" unlocks to find. While there was a story, it only felt like a vehicle for the puzzles. If you want a real story driven game, try Siberia I and II

Seen it all before
I'm not sure why this game got such good reviews- esp. from "Expert" players. This is one of the most boring games I've played. The mini-games were rehashes of others played elsewhere - I don't know how many times I can play a "connect the circuit" mini-game without tearing my hair out. Please people, can we try some imagination and ingenuity here= New Puzzles!! The HOGs were the usual mishmash, not quite junk piles, but not clear graphics either. Also, annoyingly, they contained similar objects as the objects listed to be found- for example - the list would include a "rope"- there would be more than one rope, forcing the player to click around to find the right one. The graphics were average. I have noticed with HOG scenes in poorer games- if the objects are very hard to find, its usually because the graphics are not well-done. I say this because I am an artist - I appreciate good graphics and can tell when something is not well-done. Also, the colors were very drab- increasing the boredom of the game.
The music was TERRIBLE- basically sounded like a quarter of a whole song that repeated over and over.
I finished the game (because I have to if I'm going to spend the money on a CE) but it will be a long time before I buy another game from these devs.

Echoes of the Past The Citadels of Time
I guess I am that one percent that didn't like this game. I thought the Graphics were poorly done (I am a graphic artist and know the difference - in addition to being a BFG customer for over 3 years), and personally although I like HOG's; I do not like the ones that require an extra step to find your object; it's just kind of annoying, especially when the graphics are not so good, not a junk pile, but close to it. Of course the story line is over played, going into the past and time portals, but I knew that when I purchased the game, on sale thankfully. The going back and forth between scenes to find simple objects with the bad swirling graphics had me about nuts to finish the game; because no matter how poor the game is I do finish them. I did use the hint system, which was ok, only cause I wanted to get through it and end this misery of a game. Most of the mini games were so simple a second grader could do them but a couple were so hard (more unclear instructions than hard, when I ignored the instructions I got the few that were even a bit challenging) that I almost had to skip them. The inconsistency and the lack of flow in the game had me really annoyed. This is probably one of the worst games I have played yet, aside from some (Sale game) about the civil war= (Hidden Mysteries; Civil War - do not get that one unless you are a history buff on the civil war as that game itself lacks everything which ranked 2 stars). I am deleting it from my games, I will never replay it; sound track was terrible, no mouth movement; just this evil witch out of no-where for no reason that want's you to get stuck in time; the story line is unclear as to why the witch has targeted the player for such a misery of a game.

I brought this game and wish I hadnt! If you like looking for keys over and over again then this is the game for you. It was repeatious and boring. Minimal character interaction and annoying same music over and over. The graphics were of a high quaility. The hint filled quickly. Toward the end of the game is was only mini games which I skipped for being difficult and boring. Not for me.
