Challenging with some excellent puzzles
Echoes of the Past is a trilogy of games from Orneon & this is the third; you do not need to have played the first two to enjoy this offering but they are well worth it & it?s always good to have some background.
There are a lot of puzzles to solve in this game, some of them are fiendishly difficult & many are original. The hidden object scenes are good too & have interactive items which is always fun. Some of them, rather than being word lists are where you are given items to ?put back? into the scene. You will need to go back & forth between scenes quite a lot & there is no map, you just get a journal which does not really provide many clues.
The graphics are excellent, as is the artwork & it filled my widescreen, however I was not keen on the music & the background sounds seemed to rely on a lot of creaking & footsteps.
There are two modes of play; regular with sparkles abounding & advanced with no sparkles. The hint recharge is a fast 15 seconds in both modes.
The voiceovers are mainly in the cut scenes & well suited to the game. A good lengthy game that is enjoyable to play.

Extremely Satisfied
I would just like to say that I had a whole lot of fun playing this game. I like the style, graphics, puzzles, etc. But, what I'm most happy with is that I've finally played a Collector's edition that was worth the extra cost.
Most Collector's edition only offer things like screensavers, conception art, or maybe an extra location to explore. Which is very nice. But, this one offered another complete adventure. Even though it was shorter than the original game, I felt that I finally got my money's worth with this game.
The ability to be able to go back and retry every puzzle is an awesome plus! Please include this feature in future releases.
I've played every game in the series. And, this is definitely the best one, so far.

A little something for Everybody....
This game has pretty much everything you could ask for, but there is something I can?t put my finger on that just doesn?t give it the WOW factor. You definitely get your monies worth regarding length of play, I like to take my time and enjoy my surroundings. I enjoy puzzles and this one has some interesting ones that I haven?t seen before, they range from ?wow that was easy? to ?urh?. But I try not to skip; I probably will stay on a puzzle longer than most. Length wise I would say about 6 hours.
Voice overs well done. Graphics clear and crisp. Music appropriate. The HO scenes are range from not too cluttered to ?the closet opened and everything just fell out?. There is Object Placement?I rather like that better that HO. You are given an inventory of approximately 8 items and you place them in the appropriate place, sounds easy? Well, it does have some challenges! There is considerable back and forth, luckily you work in ?chapters? so there are maybe 8-10 areas to work in. You do not advance to the next chapter until all tasks are completed.
The only issue I had with this game was the journal. It tells you exactly what you?ve just accomplished, or what just happened. That?s great when you need a break and come back to find your spot, but it offers no other information.
I tried the demo first and it caught my fancy. I purchased and was a little bored at first, but about an hour into it it starts to pick up. There is probably more HO in the first of the game. Then it leans more to adventure and investigation. A little bit of everything for everybody. I played advanced mode, no sparkles or hand holding. I?d say it was enjoyable, I found it to be relaxing with nothing gross or disgusting.

Another Must-Buy Game!!
This game can be summed up in one word: Awesome. Here are my thoughts:
Good Parts:
Thrilling storylne, with a fantasy element making it even more interesting.
Quickly recharging hint and skip.
Interactive hidden objects
Nearly every item had an immediate use, so my inventroy didn't get full
OK Parts:
The Puzzles- some were quite easy and yet others were really hard and were the reason the skip button was invented.
Bad Parts:
If there's anything bad about this game it would be the misplaced objects thing. It annoyed me and the majority of the time I couldn't figure out what to do.
Overall, this is yet another amazing hidden object game. I'm sure you'll love it, as I did and I can't wait to try out more Echoes of the Past games!!

Just Right.
I found this game had just the right amount of fun and challenges. It may not suit the more experienced gamer but I thought it was great. The mini games were quite challenging without being impossible and the help button was very helpful. I would definitely recommend this game and eagerly await the sequel.

Wow!
This is a truly awesome Hidden Object/Adventure Game. I loved it. You start out in the present day, in a castle that has been turned in to a museum.
Unfortunately a witch has cursed the castle and broken the giant clock in the lobby. You have to explore the museum/castle, travelling through swirling portals to other times. Others from the castle's history are also trapped by broken clocks.
That is the set up. I would describe this game as mostly adventure with some HO scenes, which are mostly junk piles with interactive elements. Expect to visit each HO scenes more than once. Everything was properly labeled and none of the items were microscopic or impossible to find.
You will need to do lots of walking around--through time--to find the items you need to perform the necessary tasks. As you fix the clocks in each time period, the person trapped there is freed and the portal closes. You then receive a piece of the broken clock in your time period.
The graphics are very good. There is both text and voice over?s in the cut-scenes, which can be clicked through. Game play is really long.
There are lots of activities and mini-games, which are overall pretty good and skippable. I only ran into one or two that I would call really difficult. There are more interesting places to explore in this game than any other game I've played.
I played in advanced mode and did have to use a few hints. With no sparkles, I missed a few areas I needed to search.
Since there are many areas open to explore at one time and you can collect quite a few inventory items before you use them, this game may not be for everyone. It was perfect for me.

A GOOD ONE
I like long games, with verity, and I sure got it with this one. If you are getting as tired of HO games, as I am, then try this one. There is a bit of back and forth but not bad. I played it on intermediate, (as I do all my games) but will be going back later on to play it on expert...
I make a list of the games I like enough to play twice...

To many HOS
Overall I thought the game was challenging and graphics and sound were great. My biggest problem with this game is there were way to many hidden object scenes and not enough adventure and puzzle games. Some other HOS, Adventure games on BFG are guilty of this and for me, it is very boring and tedious. Overall I'd give this game 3 1/2 out of 5 stars.

FRUSTRATING
This game is NOT a bad game; just, for me, VERY frustrating.
I've several items in my inventory bar and am walking around trying to do something with them -- knowing that there are a few places wherein I can put 2-3 items together to equal 1 item BUT can't do it...YET
I finally come upon an area wherein I can do SOMETHING and oh yeah, I've another item to add to my inventory repertoire; thanks alot
WAIT, WAIT, I've finally been able to use the 2-3 items to put something together and it's been added to my inventory and ready to be used BUT again, can't use...YET
I continually buy these type of games hoping that my common sense manner of playing will coincide with the game developer's way of thinking but after "wearing out several pairs of sneakers", I somehow don't feel I'm close to winning any "brownie points"
Health specialists say to buy a pedometer and walk at least 10,000 steps per day but to be honest, folks, after doing so with this game, I don't feel any healthier.
