OVERALL A VERY GOOD GAME We enjoyed the game it was somewhat challenging, the graphics were excellent, the only negative thing was in the hidden object scenes some of the items you were to find were not what they actually turned out to be after having to use a hint in order to find the item, some examples are as follows, a comb turned out to be a brush, a bowl was a goblett and a bone was a skull to name a few, just be aware that you have to think outside the box and sometimes that doesn't work and you'll end up having to use the hint button but I still would recommend the game December 5, 2011
An enjoyable take on Poe All in all this was a pretty good game. The scenery is appealing and the graphics in the HOScenes clear. Some of the artwork is quite lovely but there are scenes that appear ?unfinished?. In one room there are picture frames on the wall, but nothing can be seen in them. This is quite noticeable because there is a great deal of other detail in the character?s clothing and in the area?s carpet and upholstery fabrics and wallpaper. I?m not lowering my rating for this, but it did catch my eye. Unlike the Poe short story there is no narrator suffering from the fear of being buried alive. There is a man using this technique on others he wishes to do away with. This is one aspect of the story that didn?t quite gel with me. Seems to me that a man of his status could find an easier, less risky way of getting rid of his intended victims. But, this didn?t ruin the story for me either. The vengeful specter was a bit much, but I could chalk her character up to this being based on a Poe story. I think they could have told a better story with less of her, but I?m not lowering my rating for her inclusion. The majority of the game play was pretty straightforward, but there were a few times that I had to exit the game to check the walkthrough because I just couldn?t determine what I was to do next. This is one reason that I didn?t give the game a full five stars. If there had been help in the game play sections I would have rated this higher. The help feature in the HOScenes was fine. It clearly pointed out the object and recharged within an acceptable length of time. The help feature in the mini-games was just OK. It gave a vague overview of the game, but most of the time I had no problem figuring out what they wanted done. But, that doesn?t mean I didn?t skip a few games. There were some that I just didn?t care to play to their finish. My big complaint with the mini-games is that they over-did some of them. In several of the games you have to do three or more versions before you are allowed to move on. In one you have to repeat the process six times. That was way too much for me. The game wasn?t hard, but it wasn?t something I wanted to do six times before getting back to the actual game play. They are called ?mini-games? for a reason. The voiceovers were very good but the music was lacking. It was very repetitive and I turned it off fairly quickly. It wasn?t bad music, but I can?t listen to the same tune over and over. I definitely feel I got my money?s worth with this game and will certainly play it again in the future. Keep your dorsal fin up Tauret December 3, 2011
Fun Game! This game was extremely enjoyable without being so difficult as to cause frustration. The path through the game had nice twists and turns, but was not so hard as to make you give up. November 13, 2011
One more mysterious story of Allan Poe I like the special atmosphere of these stories, but for this one I think that the end is too easy, and a little disappointing.(that's why 4 stars only). November 16, 2011
worth the purchase I really enjoyed this game. It was more of an adventure game than a hidden object, which I liked. I enjoy doing the puzzles that make you think. For me, that just adds so much to the game. Storyline was good, although I do not play the games for the story, just the enjoyment of playing and relaxing. November 12, 2011
Unfortunately a Boring Game I found this game to be very boring. The storyline did not keep my interest, and by half way through I was anxious for the game to be over. There are not really that many scenes / rooms - in comparison with some of the really great games that are out there. The graphics were decent - no issue there. The games were a bit dull and repetitive. The hidden object scenes were fine. I think it was the lack of 'adventure', lack of scenes and places to go, as well as the dull storyline. I don't recommend this game. March 25, 2012
Hidden Object Game I really enjoyed this game. If I remember there were no hints so it really made you have to do a lot of thinking. November 15, 2011
Not a great player but not this bad. I was enjoying this game and then up pops a problem. Went to the walkthough because there are no help features to click on when you become stuck. Walkthough wanted me to go to the bank but the game did not give me an "eye" to excute the command. I had the following inventory: nut, glass cutter, sulfur, glove, blowpipe handle, and clippers but no where could I get the help I needed to keep going with the game. Bummer! I was really enjoying this game but obviously, could not continue. That is why the poor rating. Sorry Big Fish! This is my first failure to complete a game and no where to get good help. Not my favorite But Definitly worth my time I found this game a very easy paced one with puzzles that were mostly on the easy side. This is perfect for those days when you want to just relax. I'm not a detective and mystery fan but I did enjoy this (it is Edgar Allen Poe!) Some of the hidden objects were outstanding within the HO picture, but I did get tired of the "junk filled style." What I do like, from my old Adventure games is going back and forth between screens which this game does. However, I think there should have been more scenes to work through. I found the different scenes to be short of things to click on which I also enjoy doing - one or two usually. It was challenging at times when you needed to think outside of the box with your items and how they were used - some were very creative. Again, a great game for a raining day or 100 degrees like Tucson, AZ. July 13, 2012
Stylish HOG game with some flaws Not the best hidden object game I have played. The graphics are well done but not as crisp as in some games. I felt there were rather too many piles of junk to sort through, and the naming of some of the objects in the HOG scenes was questionable. All the puzzles were easy, and some lacked meaningful instructions, so the biggest puzzle was trying to work out what you were meant to do! On the whole, not a bad way to spend a couple of evenings, but House of 1000 doors or Secrets of the Dark are better, I think. July 12, 2012
