Virtual Exercise The thing this game REALLY needed was a map! There is SO MUCH running back and forth through the scenes, it became tiring after awhile! Although there were no voice overs, I have to say the music and sound effects were great, very spooky. The game has to do with a family losing their souls and the only sister (a young girl) left to fight for their souls. For this reason I would not recommend this game for children or anyone who does not want to play a game with many demons or occult activities in it. The h.o. scenes were the usual junk piles, sometimes dark and hard to spot things, but you do get an article of some kind that you will need to play the game. In the c.e., there are some wallpapers that would be good desktops at Halloween, and the musical soundtrack. But because of all the demons and the endless back and forth, I will not recommend or play this one again. April 25, 2012
A little easy but good length of play This is a splendid hidden object game from Top Evidence Studio; basically you search for the ingredients to an elixir to save your sister from the influence of an amulet imbued with demonic power. The graphics are crisp & the artwork excellent; there are no voiceovers but the music is melodic, & there are good ambient sounds; some of them very creepy in a childlike nursery rhyme kind of way. In the cut scenes Mozart?s Requiem is played & it really stirs the hairs on the back of your neck. The hint recharges at 60 seconds & is useful most of the time although occasionally you just get told to ?look elsewhere?; there is no map but there are not so many areas that one is required. There is only one mode of play so expect sparkles for H0 scenes & glints for objects of interest including within the H0s. The hidden objects are well drawn & there are lots of interactive items; not all are required but they do add to the gameplay. The mini games ranged from extremely easy to a few that I wasn?t sure how to play; a little more guidance would have been welcome, however they were varied . It took me around six hours to complete the main game; I enjoyed finding all the different rooms & trying to solve the puzzles within those rooms. The bonus game in the Collector?s Edition took me around an hour to complete (you get four new scenes to explore) & although it enhanced the game?s completion it wasn?t necessary. The standard edition ending is satisfactory enough February 19, 2012
Excellent Collector's Edition Game This game was awesome! Well worth paying a Collector's edition price! The graphics, music and game play were all fantastic! Many, many hidden object scenes as well as picking up random objects through out the adventure. We don't like to, but did need to skip a couple of the mini games, as they were very challenging. We will go back & try to get through them again without skipping. All in all, this game will give you hours of awesome game play, even with the demon theme story line. December 28, 2011
Average Game, probably wait for SE DD or WD... I only played the demo of this game. It was just ok, nothing really special. It's mostly hand drawn graphics that are quite crisp, clear, and lovely, however, it is a bit grey. The music is ok, and unobtrusive. The story was alright, but game play was a bit tedious. A lot of to-ing and fro-ing. The SG and hints were very helpful. The mini games were more of a challenge,if not a bit confusing, and thankfully there is a skip button. I'd wait for the SE to be a DD or WD before buying...not worth the CE price for a ho hum game. December 25, 2011
Move over RTR...Here's Haunted Manor!! A superb Hidden Object/Adventure game with a "right off the bat" intriguing story to follow all the way through the game and bonus game! Hidden Object scenes were well developed, with interaction, and beautiful artistry! Puzzles were different and fun to play. The "connector" puzzle in the mine was my favorite! For a fan of "dark" and spooky games, this one did not disappoint! Hats off to the developer and all those that made this game a possibility!! November 20, 2011
This Could Of Been Great - Falls A Little Short This review is based on the demo of the game which is a sample version and I played for about an hour. I'll start off with what I liked: I found the story to be good and interesting. Twin sister and you have to save her by finding a powerful amulet to stop an ancient evil. I also found the graphics to be very well done. The hidden object scenes are nice and clear. Easy to find stuff. I'm also not much of a puzzle person but I didn't mind these and didn't skip any as I came across several in the game. Not difficult at all. Super easy for some I'm sure. I found there to be a lot of traveling back and forth locations to get and use inventory items. What I didn't like: No voice overs as it would of made this a much better game and should be there for a CE game in my opinion. No choice in level of difficulty as there should of been an easy mode and advanced mode for a CE game. I know that some either like the sparkles, don't mind them, and some don't care for them at all but in my opinion way too much sparkles for my taste especially when you'd click an area and nothing be there. Just to move something without getting anything. I didn't understand the purpose of this at all. I don't mind a few especially showing where the hidden object scenes are but this was overkill and kinda took the fun out of the game always being showed where to go. Oh and I didn't much care for the music. Sounded kinda like a funeral to me. I had to cut that off. That was annoying for me. Overall, I give this 3 out of 5. I found this to be an OK game. I had to knock this down a couple of stars for the overkill on the sparkles. This annoyed me more than anything else. I usually purchase most Collectors Editions unfortunately I wasn't too impressed with this for the reasons I stated above in my review here so while I don't recommend this as a Collectors Edition I do however think it would be worth the Standard Edition as I'm waiting for that to come to the site. Give it a try however as you might enjoy this Collectors Edition which I hope you do! Happy Gaming! November 21, 2011
extremely good game I was hesitant to buy as I had read other reviews but after playing the demo, I was hooked. Any one passing this game up because of sparkles or music or scary things does not know what they are missing. I don't care about the frosting, all I want is a good lengthy game for my money and this is one of those games. Happy gaming to those who were smart enough to go ahead and buy it. November 20, 2011
Exquisite art and devilish puzzles to enjoy As an adult finding good games can be a challenge when looking for interesting twists on the same old chestnuts and be able to spend time admiring the art work. Stories have a tendency to repeat themselves by the very nature of the subject. This was a welcome surprise, and we are delighted and grateful to the artists for several hours of entertainment elegantly offered and without having to worry about gory scenes or boring ones. Buy this game. It is a classic. December 28, 2011
Too much hidden object for me Good storyline and I guess you would like this game if you were into HO as it has HEAPS of hidden object scenes which I don't really enjoy that much, especially before you finish you have to do 12 in a row!! Graphics are great, mini games were relatively easy but the game was a moderate to hard challenge. Didn't really like the way the hint feature worked either. Bonus game is a decent lenght for CE, but the game has no acheivements which I find is always a bit of added fun when playing. I would only recommend this game to people who prefer HO over adventure in their games. July 16, 2012
A Great Game This is a great game, even though there is only one mode of play where the HO scenes sparkle, and places of interest glint, it still keeps you on your toes from start to finish, without any hand holding. This developer (Top Evidence) know how to keep you intrigued. I really enjoy moving around large spooky homes with lots of rooms to explore and heaps of puzzles to solve. I didn?t use the SG at all because the hint system was sufficient, with out being intrusive. I also liked that the developers remained faithful to the period, if you were looking for a ?plane? in a HO scene, it was one of the wood paring variety, not the flying kind and a ?torch? had a flame not a battery. It?s a long game and I felt completely satisfied when it ended, I almost didn?t feel the need to play the Bonus Chapter, however the Bonus Chapter rounds things up very nicely but isn?t necessary, so if your interested in this game and can only afford the S/E version, you won?t be disappointed. Even though movement within the game is reasonably compact, there is a lot of area to cover and a map would have made a great game perfect. February 19, 2012
