Need a quick relaxing play?
Insomnia and convinience told me that this game might just be interesting. The beginning was slow during the trial, but as I started to get further along it started to become a little bit more interesting. I thought this game could only get better.
I will say that some of the visuals in the game and story leave you with a little peekaboo if you're easily startled, but towards the end I realized that that was all I was really getting out of it all.
I did enjoy the puzzles and the games and the HOS went quite simply. I haven't played any other strange cases, and so far it really doesn't intrigue me to try the others. I might have tried the wrong one, but I do like the paranormal in the ghost area.
So, if you like bumps in the night with a little quick relaxing game play on top of it and you're not really thinking about caring about a storyline, then this should be the game for you. I hate to give it such bad reviews, because it wasn't the worst I've ever played (obviously I thought it was going somewhere since I purchased it,) but if you really want to know where it stands ... wait until it's on for 2.99 and you've got the right game. :)

Strange Case Indeed
Voice over is very well done. HOG's are a bit muddled
The inventory is a bar on the left and you have to keep opening it to see what you have. Very annoying.
Hint not very helpful.

The not so secret Secrets of Grey Mist Lake
Very disappointing, the story is as it starts out is ok, but then goes downhill (rapidly) from there. The puzzles are less than challenging and the voice acting is really poor. Then to top it all off in this little western type town, they are being terrorized by witches (what else). And what's more they are Celtic witches, (why is always celtic witches doing the dirty is these things?)
On the positive side though, the graphics are good, not great, but good.
Overall the game is a poor sequel in the series, I enjoyed the first two, but I would never recommend this turkey.

I can't believe I finished the whole thing
I have never been fond of the other installments in the "Strange Cases" series, but thought after trying the demo on this one that it would be better. and it is, I'll give it that.
there was really nothing redeeming about this game. the voice overs were wooden. the graphics were low-grade. the puzzles were very easy and certainly nothing unique. the hint button only repeats what's on your "objective" card if you're not in a hidden object scene.
and let's talk about this hidden object scenes. the ones you revisit sometimes three times. picking up the same objects you've already picked up. there's no excuse for that in this day and age, and is pure laziness on the part of the programmers. there must be three dozen or so items to find in that scene, and you want me to pick up the hammer *again*?
I bought it, I tried it, it's not for me. unfortunately, I wouldn't ever bother replaying it. I definitely wouldn't recommend it.

Good length, clunky game play
First the positives:
1. The game was nice and long, so there's your money's worth, if the length is important to you. I bought it a week ago and just now finished.
2. There was a good variety of puzzles, beyond the HOS portions.
3. The HOS often required an item from inventory to complete - that may not be a positive for some people but to me it made the hidden object gameplay more interactive and less junkpile.
4. The hidden objects did not contain anachronistic items in the searches - historical inaccuracies bug me.
And the negatives:
1. The art was so-so, making the HOS sometimes a problem. Sometimes a syringe didn't look like a syringe.
2. The load up between scenes would sometimes black out completely and I could not go forward or back, but had to back out of the game and come back in - come to think of it, maybe that's why it took a week for me to finish.
3. The HINT button, even on the easiest setting, took FOR...EV...ER... to reload. And the hints were worse than useless. For instance, on one screen, if I was puzzled about where to go next, the hint would indicate an action THAT WAS UNAVAILABLE UNTIL THE END OF THE GAME. Or it would highlight an area with a note "Nothing to see here". Completely useless. Oh, and I had to use the walkthrough a lot more than I would like because the next action made absolutely no logical sense.
4. I hate voiceovers - you could click through them but the acting in most voiceovers makes me crazy.
5. The story was actually a little boring. I bought the game thinking that the story had potential but it put me to sleep - literally. I fell asleep several times while playing and had to quit. A good story will keep me engaged even if I'm exhausted.
So some people may enjoy this game but I had to force myself to complete the game in order to give it a fair review.

Complicated Hidden Object Game
The actions are so much confused... you cant go on if you dont find some things, but you try and try and get walking around and cant find the objects then you cant solve the puzzles, if you dont solve puzzles you cant find objects... you dont go ahead even using hints.
Thanks for the opportunity to give my opinion about the game and sorry if it is not very good.

Good game with too many "howevers" for my taste
Review after finishing the game:
The Good:
+ Graphics vastly improved over Part 2
+ good videos
+ voiceovers (however: not for all characters, couldn't they find a child speaker?)
+ starts out scary (however: the witch loses her scare factor very soon)
+ as usual you have to earn your search list for hidden object scenes...
The Neutral:
o ...however: you only search by word now - no more fragmented or picture scenes
o had to give up frustrated on two riddles (two slider puzzles)
o some micro lags, especially in the main menu
The Bad:
- guidance through the game sub par, and becomes more confusing as more areas open up
- -> it's not a good sign when you have an empty inventory and you have to run around like a headless chicken trying to find a scene with something to do
- hint system outside the (skip-able) riddles and hidden object scenes useless, since it usually just repeats the text from the card below
Bottom Line: Good sequel with better visuals and less diversity than earlier games in the series. Still recommended, but I wouldn't hold it against you if you are waiting for the Daily Deal.

Loved the Hidden Object scenes
This is an odd game, almost as though two people took turns to write the programme. From Sulus Games it has their usual splendid graphics & artwork; the voiceovers are excellent but are only used for some characters & not others. The music is subtle & the ambient sounds lovely.
There are two modes of play, regular with a long 2 minute hint, sparkles & glints or expert with no sparkles but a 4 minute hint. You are given a case to hold the inventory & to access you click on it rather than having the items along the bottom of your screen, it was rather a clumsy device to use & did become annoying. In addition a flashlight which is used to locate particular objects that are needed.
There is a good mix of hidden object scenes & mini puzzles; in order to solve an H0 scene you have to find a green card before the list is revealed & many objects are interactive. Normally in order to ?open? the H0 scene you have to find an object elsewhere in the game such as a key & this adds interest. The mini puzzles are a mix of very easy to solve to those that took a lot of head scratching on my part to figure out what to do, in fact some I gave up on & had to skip as I could not for the life of me work out the solution.
I found the cursor a little ?sticky? which was frustrating at times but not enough to spoil my enjoyment of the game.

Great Game!
I seem to be the odd one out as most of these reviews are rather negative BUT I liked this game which surprised me since the other two in this series did nothing for me especially the 2nd one. I thought the music they played really made the atmosphere spooky and it was believable to some extent which really appeals to me in games. I liked the overall story and I felt like the music really kept the game together and made it interesting because it led into events like rising up and then down when it came to what you were looking for. When I demo'ed this, I thought it had too many Hidden object scenes but after playing it, it has just enough. The advanced level doesn't have sparkles anywhere so there were a lot of times I missed places to do Hidden object scenes. Also, I liked having to do something extra to find the tarot card usually by using an item from my inventory. That gave the game something new and challenging because if you didn't have the piece you couldn't advance. Also, the hint button took forever to load on advanced mode so I couldn't rely on it being there so I had to figure it out by myself AND it was reliable in hidden object scenes but really didn't help outside of them so it was a game that needed to use brain cells.
I did become stuck and had to refer to a walkthrough at one point. Turns out Im just blind haha Im not surprised I found this game interesting and others did not because I tend to not be impressed by the majority of games anymore. It really takes something quite interesting and out of the norm for me to like it so this game appealed to that.
Im not really into witches but she didn't really bother me. I was more consumed with the overall love story theme of kate and sam. (I think thats their names LOL) but then again, I am a chick and in quite a lovey dovey mood lately as my boyfriend is visiting this month from australia =) so maybe this game just hit on a good nerve =) happy gaming.

Fair game - not much to write home about
Good graphics, fun storyline, but it is an average game. Nothing special about it.
