In this Case, Grim Equals Great: Don't Miss It!!
I didn?t think it would be possible to top The Bride, but in this sequel, Elephant Games have exceeded not only their first effort, but most of the top-level Hidden Object/Puzzle games of the last couple of years (and there have been some wonderful games)! Setting off to her nephew?s Christening, our character wrecks her car just outside the gloomy castle where her sister resides with her husband and new baby. From the start, it is clear to us, if not to the narrator, that werewolves are involved and very close at hand. With beautiful artwork, an abundance of challenging and unique puzzles, appropriately spooky music, and atmosphere galore, this game simply astonishes with its complexity and length. It feels as if I have gone to the movies expecting a 90-minute light comedy, and ended up in an epic-length horror movie, with surprises every time I turn around. The game offers so much, I literally had to stop to rest my eyes. Some of the puzzles are very difficult. Some are simply challenging, but would take so long to play, I wimped out and used the Skip button. I am playing the game at Advanced level, which is where I normally play. I think this game would be challenging and great fun at the Casual Level, even: it is very intricate! Some people may be surprised at the level of expertise required to get anywhere. A readily available map indicates our location, which rooms remain unsolved, and the location of yet-to-be discovered rooms. But the map shows only one floor level at a time: at one point in the game, after a cut scene, we suddenly have a new map to follow, underneath the castle. We play on that dungeon level for quite a while before another cut scene brings us back to the main rooms of the castle. Don?t pass up this game! It will keep you on your toes (or at least on the edge of your seat) for many hours! I recommend it highly.

Great Game!
I enjoyed this more than 'The Bride' [which in itself wasn't bad either]. Was a decent length, with a variety of HOGs and puzzles. Some of the puzzles were very easy - others, not so much - with a lot different from the 'standard ones' in most CE calibre games. Storyline generally flowed well, and was interesting.
Bonus chapter was a little short, but still enjoyable. Neatly followed on from storyline [if you don't think too heavily on 'present altering past' outcomes], but wasn't essential to overall story.

Amazing Game.. Worth of Money
At first I was reluctant to buy this game when I tried on the demo. Seems like there are many backtracking and although it has a nice voice overs, almost nothing in the game has music (or is it just me?), but after reading many positive reviews, I decided to buy this using my two game club credits and I've got to say I am pretty satisfied with this purchase. It has a nice graphic, great storyline (although it doesn't show clearly why we had a car crash and our sister seems like to order us around), but the game itself is long so it's a good value for money. I love the map, so no backtracking is needed, as long as we know where it is, we can always track on the to-do list. A plus for this game. I don't really need to use the strategy guide because the hint is quite useful.
Overall I am happy with this game, hope you could try it and have fun with it as I do.

A mediocre game with some flaws
After reading some very positive reviews, I was disappointed in this game.
Its plot about a family's magical curse seems very familiar, as does all its backtracking through a decayed mansion. Its hidden object scenes are mostly all right, though occasionally an object is buried in darkness. The artwork is good, though not spectacular. In short, Legacy is basically a well-executed game of its type, but it stays very true to its type, and offers little originality.
It does have some annoying flaws. I found a few of the mini-game puzzles extremely difficult, and some of these were unfortunately more tedious than challenging. In one set, for instance, solution sequences run to about a hundred moves, but you can only 'undo' three moves.
The thing that bothered me most, though, was the game's pervasive arbitrariness and illogic. Maybe this just shows that I've played far too many of this kind of game, but it annoyed me when I was looking for an ax to chop some wood, and a perfectly good ax turned up in one of my hidden object scenes. Why couldn't I just use it? Why, at another point, can't I simply saw through or smash a certain little piece of wood, instead of searching many scenes for a particular tool that seems much less plausible than all those other options? Why, again, do I need to find a hammer to do something that my crowbar should be able to accomplish just as well? Why did I throw that crowbar away two scenes ago, when I can easily carry a dozen heavy objects? Why can I not go back and find the crowbar again, even though I have proven (more times over than would really seem necessary) that I can find a strawberry in a junkpile.
It's not only the solutions that seem arbitrary in this game. Many of the problems are arbitrary as well. At one point the game tells me that I have to hoist a certain object up to the ceiling, for a reason that makes so little sense that it breaks immersion, and makes me sure that the designers were just stretching things out. And although I have the courage to confront horrible monsters, but I can't possibly cope with a pile of leaves, a cobweb, or a bit of dirt, until I track down the appropriate tool.
Of course these are all just the tropes of the Hidden Object Game. If you can't just accept a certain amount of this kind of thing, then these games are just not for you. At least Legacy's hidden object scenes make sense in their settings, and don't have ridiculous elements like gigantic lollipops and so on. But my feeling is still that Legacy pushes the genre convention of arbitrary, dream-like logic too far, to the point where it just seems like lazy design. Other recent games seem to me to have done a better job of posing challenges that made sense within the story, and offering solutions that also made sense.
(Though I sure would love to see a HOG in which you start the game with a big Swiss Army knife, that you never throw away, and that can be used effectively to remove most of the game's trivial mechanical obstacles. I'm not sure just where the challenge would come from in such a game, but I'd buy it just for the novelty of minimal realism.)
In the end I don't recommend Legacy for anyone who has played a lot of HOGs and has come to look for an immersive story as well as an array of point-and-click puzzles. It's a technically competent game in many ways, and I can understand why some people really love it. But I found too much of it to be boring and tedious. The bonus chapter is maybe a bit better than the average level for the game, but nothing spectacular, and does not make the CE worth double the SE price.

FANtasic Game!
This game is so much fun! The story line is excellent, and the artwork fantastic! I am a HUGE fan! There are a lot of really supurb HO games out right now, and this one does not disappoint! I highly recommend the CE version because I ended up using the SG a great deal. The puzzles can be a bit hard although there is a skip feature that is friendly. There were a few times that I was scratching my head and saying "what do I do now" but the SG and/or the hint button were both VERY helpful. All in all, I highly recommend this game!

Fantastic Game
I loved everything about this game. Excellent hidden object scenes. Puzzles were workable and could be skipped if you couldn't work them.
Wonderful voice overs, art work, and music. I am not one that cares much about the story line as long as the game play meats my needs:) This did seem like a good story though.
The only thing I found lacking was a journal. I like one just to look back if you have to take a break. It helps you remember where you were or keeps you from having to write clues down.
This would be a great Standard Edition game! With the hint system it has you really have no need of the SG as far as I am concerned.
Definitely one of the better games I have played!

Grim Tales ? The Legacy (CE)
You start off driving to your sister?s son?s christening and appear at a great deserted estate more like a castle where wolves howl and creep up throughout the game play. You also have a ghost that helps you along the way a strange touch as as he asks you to reverse the tragedy that has evolved.
Here you have to piece together and be aware of the beasts while trying to solve this mystery and save your sister and her family!
INTRO ? Short and sweet
MODES x3 Easy, Advanced and Hardcore
HELP ? Available in HOS and throughout game play
HINTS ? Charge quickly for HOS and within game play mode so no need to get stuck which way to go or what to do next ? they take 45 seconds to re-charge.
HOS ? Nicely paced out throughout the game not too many, clear and easy to find objects
CLICKING ? No penalty
VOICE OVERS ? Are great and professionally done mouths don?t move
MAP ? This is shown as a compass and shows you locations you have not been to and by clicking on the ! a pop up appears with information showing you instructions, location and picture
GRAPHICS - Beautifully detailed nice, clean and well enhanced
MUSIC ? is nice and they have used to enhance not abuse the scenes so you won?t get it playing every second of the game.
SOUND EFFECTS - are great!
MINI GAMES - A nice variety and challenge is great but not hard to finish, I also like how some show you how it?s solved, something that I believe should be available if using the skip button.
I did find moving to other locations a little slow, but it won?t get you frustrated and you will just play on.
I enjoyed this game in trial mode and am about to purchase it as well as download "The Bride" as I partly played that on my sisters PC and thoroughly enjoyed it.
For the trial I give this a 4.8 Something you would enjoy for both new and the experienced gamers, there are enough hints and help to get you through and be totally immersed into the legacy.
ONLINE ? It is available as an online game too, but sincerely, the graphics and full screen are totally better and give you more realization.
I give this my (((Rawww)) of approval to buy!

Best HOG/Adventure Hybrid of the Season
I enjoy a challenge and Grim Tales certainly delivered. One puzzle took me over 3 days to finally solve, a level of difficulty I haven't seen in a long while from BFG. Using logic to solve puzzles? What a novel idea! ;-)
For those who aren't puzzle solving freaks like me, there are plenty of HO scenes to explore, a handy map to help you transport to any room immediately (very little backtracking), and a multitude of intriguing worlds to warp away from the dreary castle.
I played on the most difficult mode (no cheats, no hints, no puzzle skipping) and I'm glad I did. In doing so, I was able to make this wonderfully engaging game last longer.
Bonus points for simple, ambient music that doesn't distract or get tiresome over the course of the game. Beautiful graphics and a pretty good story round this out to be a very enjoyable game. I can't recommend it enough.
More like this please, BFG!

Great Reviews...Not for me.
Phenomenal artwork and computer graphics were a work of genius, however, the art of basic story telling and common sense... missing. Responses did not match circumstances. Played Hard level and, still, each move was explained, Gamers can figure the way if there is a logical flow. Really wanted to purchase this CE as the map and all the Extra Content looked worthwhile!
Not a purchase for me.

Great HOS
The length of game was great. The bonus on CE was long and included more places. I played on easy but could have done next level. Haven't had as much fun in a long time. It kept me up late but was worth it all. Liked the stratagy guide placement. Helped keep me moving in the game. Was clear and very helpful. I think I will mostly buy the CE's if I like the game.
