Absolutely Love It - Fun Adventure/Hidden Object Game
This review is based on the whole game including the bonus.
The story which Vast Studios is the developer for this game:
You are a detective asked by your boss to investigate a strange fog that has settled in on New Orleans Mardi Gras. In the process it is having some disfiguring affects on the people. In addition, the chief's daughter has gone missing.
This game has 6 chapters plus a bonus chapter.
No choice in level of difficult (easy or advanced mode). Yes there are some sparkles to this game which usually annoy me however in this game I didn't find them to be overly intrusive so it didn't bother me. This may or may not bother you.
It was mentioned in a review about no choice for widescreen. I have a 20 inch monitor and no problem filling my screen. No adjustment needed. You may or may not need to adjust.
There is a journal which will help you along the way however no map as there is some traveling back/forth and I found the game to have just enough different places to go to keep it interesting. Also if you get stuck you can click on the hint button and it will tell you whether there is anything to do in that area or not. There's also a strategy guide that comes right with the game which I found very helpful as I'll admit I had to refer to it a couple of times but it got me right back on track with the game.
The hidden object scenes: Sometimes you find them in the open, sometimes you have to combine a couple before you can use them, and some are hidden as you have to move things. I found most to be pretty easy to find however a few a little tricky and blended into the scene. The hint however charges up quick.
Also quite a few puzzles. I only skipped a few. The skip I also found to charge quick.
There's also 20 morphing objects to find "illusions" which opens extras.
As for the length of this game? Well I think that depends on your skill level and if your a fast player or take your time. The main game took me somewhere between 4 to 5 hours and the bonus took me 1 1/2 hours so this may vary for you. I also found the bonus chapter to be well done and added to the game.
Overall I give this 5 stars as I really enjoyed the story. It kept me interested as to what was going to happen next. I also LOVED the Mardi Gras theme to the game. I found the graphics to be nice, crisp, and clear. The voice overs also well done. I also found the game to be challenging at times cause as I said I lost my way a couple of times. I found this game to definitely be long enough and well worth the collector's edition price of $13.99 in my opinion.
Thanks Big Fish and Vast Studios for a great game.

Fun and entertaining
This review is based on the CE trial version, which took me exactly 59 minutes to play.
I love this game. The graphics are well done, although they could have been a little less rough in the HOS (hidden object scenes).
There are 3 different styles in the HOS: finding objects in the open, combining objects to make a whole before clicking on them, and finding objects in secret places.
There are 6 chapters plus the bonus game.
There are 20 morphing objects, called "illusions" to be found, which open extras once they have been found.
There is voice-over, and a choice of custom or system cursor.
There is no choice of normal and advanced mode. You can only play in "sparkle" mode.
The HINT and SKIP buttons fill quickly.
There is a journal, but no map.
Gameplay and puzzles are fun and entertaining.
The SG (strategy guide) only showed the part you play in the trial version.
This is definitely a "buy" for me.

Based On The Trial - Great!
Haven't bought this yet, but will be buying the ordinary edition the minute it's released.
The HO scenes are gorgeous, the sound too, with interesting sound effects that add to the atmosphere.
I like the way the objects keep coming, so that some items not listed at first come up after you've found others. This adds interest to fairly easy HO scenes. Love the smashed glass effect when you use hint.
The story is easy enough to follow so far, and I actually like the bad guy - which is of course unusual.
Haven't found any flaws yet, so I'm looking forward to finishing the story...

This One Misses The Mark
Shattered Minds: Masquerade has the potential for being a good game, but after playing the demo version, I realized it wasn't going to hit the mark for me.
Up front, the game offers no wide-screen support and no choices of play mode. The graphics are good in the overall game, but turn grainy in the HOS. The text and journal are laden with clues and there are sparkles indicating areas of interest, so players not interested in hand-holding are going to be disappointed.
The story centers around a magician, Visage, who has unleashed a fog that has wiped away the faces of everyone in town. Couple this with the Boudreauxs, a local family who were supposedly all killed when their mansion burned (oops guess not!) and you should get some hair-raising moments. But unfortunately for me, the story line is flat, dull and so slow developing, that I lost interest in it by the time I hit the slot machines. The less than inspired music, voice acting and very easy puzzles didn't help.
The game is worth the time of the demo, but not much more in my opinion.

A Winner!
I just played the demo and will definitely be buying this game. The visuals are good, the story is fun and there are lots of places to go and things to pick up. This is a H/O adventure game taking place in New Orleans at Mardi Gras. It has a creepy, over the top villain who can summon a bizarre 'blockade'...won't say more, don't want to spoil the fun! I would definitely recommend this, can't wait to play the full version!

Shattered Minds Most Intriguing!!
This game gets a "big" thumbs up from me! Even just playing the demo version kept my interest the whole time. The graphics are very well done along with mysterious music to give you that ambiance for that "scary feel" and the puzzles
are not too difficult but a little challenging at times. I also
like looking out for the morphing objects as an extra bonus
find. I look forward to playing the whole game soon so thanks Big Fish for another "winner"!

Another HO with a great storyline! Love New Orleans setting!
I finished the demo in exactly 50 minutes. I did use SG which is available with demo. I didn't have to use the hint button on the HO's. I liked the graphics, although some reviews said it was "too grainy". I think it was the "fog" that caused this.Once the fog was removed, I thought the graphics were fine. The puzzles were just hard enough not to be frustrating.
I usually do not wear headphones during game play as it distracts me. I did listen during demo andclose to the end of demo I removed them, maybe too repetitive. I didn't really notice "sparkles" in the game, must have tuned them out also. As I am writing this review, my game purchase is downloading. Purchased the game as soon as I completed the demo.
Happy gaming fishes!
Thanks BFG for another great CE game.
Keep up the wonderful work.
DO NOT STOP!

Entertaining, but too easy
I am basing this off of the 1 hour trial. I enjoyed the storyline and found it pretty interesting. However, without spoiling, I was confused at points because I didn't feel I had a full explanation of certain details. I felt the HOS were up to par as far as difficulty goes, nothing was too hard to find. On the other hand, the puzzles were really simple. So simple that I literally would finish before the skip button even loaded a quarter of the way. This can be good, but I found myself left wanting at the ease at which I was completing the game. I had no problems with visual or sound. This game is not a buy for me, though I know that it will appeal to others. I suggest trying it out for yourself to see how you feel about the gameplay, which as previously mentioned, has no choice of difficulty. Good luck gamers!

Wonderful HOG!
DISCLAIMER: I only played the free demo.
In Shattered Minds: Masquerade, a young heiress has been kidnapped days before her wedding by the magician Visage. For reason(s) unknown, he has unleashed a fog (Can't they come up with something more original than that?) which takes the faces of the victims. You play as a New Orleans detective investigating these bizarre happenings.
This game has great graphics, on par with games like Hallow Legends: Templar, and the face of Visage is really quite frightening. It gives the game a very creepy feeling. The music and voice overs are well done also. The hint and skip buttons filled quickly. Even though the hidden object scenes were the standard junk piles, they were pretty junk piles.
The game is not perfect though; I had problems with the fact that there was only one mode to play. Another problem was the fog plot device. I have seen it in a lot of games lately and I wish they would come up with something more original. The mini-games weren't all that challenging.
All-in-all, the is a great game worthy of 4.3 stars.

Review of Shattered Minds
I liked the game. However, the music was annoying. Really don't like jazz and it interfered with the enjoyment of the game. When you have voice overs you really need to keep the music very subtle because it cannot be turned off. I enjoyed the puzzles and the HOG scenes were okay with some items difficult to find but not excessively so. It was very difficult for me to rate this game after playing a game with the caliber of Ravenhurst. However, this is a nice little game. Not the best, but definitely not the worst. The graphics were not as clear or crisp as in other games. However, the biggest complaint I had was the music.
