Good, Creepy HOG! Once I got past the fact that the Knights of the Templar are the "bad guys" here, I actually got into the game. My trial was up in less than 20 minutes, so casual mode was actually very easy. (There is a hardcore option for the masochists among us, lol). I think this would be a great game for the novice hog enthusiast to gain some experience with. Really nice graphics and good audio make it enjoyable and the story line is interesting. This one's a keeper, if only to find out why the Knights have finally gone rogue. December 11, 2011
not great but good Seems like you were just going from one place to another with not real apparent reason. No real flow for finding things to use and advancing. The HOS were not hard and some were different. Puzzles were ok. Not elephants best game. February 21, 2013
Leaves a lot to be desired The story line left a lot to be desired, not what you would expect from a game dealing with the Knights Templar. The graphics were grainy and cartoonish for the most part. The HOS were either straight forward or interactive with your inventory and some of the inventory just sat around forever only to be used in an HOS. The VOs were badly done in my opinion. The puzzles were not much of a challenge at all. It also lacked clear direction and I found the hint button to be a needed asset much to my disappointment. You do get the button to charge faster as you collect birds throughout the game which made it a little easier to swallow. Im glad I purchased on sale because it definately was not worth paying full price for. It makes for a decent rainy day game when you don't want much of a brain stimulator. Im going to recommend the game because everyone deserves a break and others may find it interesting for beginners. November 11, 2012
entertaining enjoyed demo. just enough difficulty to keep you interested. good graphics. will buy game. December 9, 2011
No story to speak of but challenging gameplay As usual an excellent offering from Elephant Games, the graphics are crisp & the artwork excellent & is interspersed with live action cut scenes, I have to admit I prefer them without live actors; however these are not as bad as some I have seen. There is a gamma option to change the brightness if you monitor shows the scenes as a little dark for your taste. There are 3 modes of play, casual with a 20 second hint recharge, lots of sparkles ; advanced with a 35 second hint & no sparkles or hardcore for those gamers who prefer no help whatsoever. The hint is rather too helpful, instead of just pointing in the direction you should go it tells you exactly which area you should be in & what you should do when you get there. Too much hand holding in my opinion. The music is ok & gets a little creepy at times, the only voiceovers are in the cut scenes & there are some excellent ambient sounds. During the scenes you can collect birds however the reason for this is only apparent in the Collector?s Edition so you can ignore them here. You get a diary which has a map, not interactive & not really that helpful; there is a great deal of going backward & forwards through the scenes. There aren?t a lot of mini games & they are pretty difficult, I ended up using my skip button more than usual. They were along the lines of logic or maths puzzles & I could not always work out how I was supposed to solve them. The hidden object scenes were very good, sometimes you have to use your inventory items within the H0 & if you don?t have the right item you have to leave the H0 unfinished until you find it. There were also some excellent interactive objects that were not always easy to solve. You do pick up quite a lot of inventory items but rarely have more than one screen full as they are used quite soon after they are found. All in all quite a hard game & it took me around 4-1/2 hours to play so a worthwhile buy. March 31, 2012
Love this game Really liked this hidden object game as there was a great balance between the hidden object and strategy parts of the game. The graphics and story are strong and the length is good. there are challenging puzzles. Spoiler... I especially liked... that you didn't need to go back to the hidden objects a second or third time, this really irks me with games as it feels like a lazy way to keep collecting objects. High Quality Hidden Object Game I played this game on the "Hardcore" setting (no hints, no skipping), and it gave me hours of fun. The puzzles were satisfyingly challenging and very enjoyable, and the scene direction flowed without being too obvious. It had me stumped for a while a couple of times! Occasionally whimsical with the use of objects, but not too obscure. I have played a lot of games of this genre, and would highly recommend this one. January 6, 2012
disappointing after reading other reviews. I don't write too many reviews, but I was disappointed after playing the game. The story line didn't lend itself to using the inventory collected. I had to resort to the walkthrough several times to understand where to go next. More time should have been spent connecting the inventory to the story line. Glad it was the daily deal or I would really be upset!! December 24, 2012
Expected more and tough to follow Did not like the storyline and the game - no flow to it and it really didn't make sense. I purchased as I thought it was good then found it to be really disjointed. Never really got into it and just a mess of a game. Even the book that is supposed to keep track doesn't .follow through or tell you what is going on. There are many better games to purchase than this one August 6, 2012
Flawed story telling I was excited to buy and play this game and it started out well with the usual summons for a relative in trouble. Great graphics and I love old building with dungeons, etc...however, THE DEVELOPERS MUST LEARN TO USE HUMAN EMOTIONS IN THEIR STORIES....to make them more believable. I won't spoil here, but come on, the basic premise of the story was totally ignored throughout and in the end! Disappointing. One other source of irritation for me in this game was the interactive HO scenes, some required inventory items to be used....ok that's new, but two or three times you need to leave and come back...without an idea to do so??? Not as smooth a flow to this game as I would like....well I hope I like the game "9: The Dark Side" better as it is sitting in my 'to be played file' ps. The music was actually very good imo....
