FUN AND ENTERTAINING!!!
I was cut short on my demo time - my fault only - but the parts that I did get to play were entertaining. The graphics were good except that some of the hidden object scenes were a little grainy, but the HOs tested your abilities. The music was fine and the voice overs were good. Where you had to go was easy to follow making going back and forth pleasant and not a chore as in other games. This is a definite buy for me.

Entertaining, Yet Not Spectacular, Adventure/Hidden Object Game
I found the graphics in this game to be well drawn, but not spectacular. I would have preferred deeper color saturation, and sharper contrast. Nonetheless, the scenes are interesting to look at and there are fun gadgets and creatures to discover. This game offers ?Movie? cut scenes, which may be skipped. Game-play is smooth and without glitches.
Both ?Regular? and ?Advanced? modes of play are offered, with the usual faster hint and skip recharge available in ?Regular? mode. In addition to active areas being identified by sparkles, this game?s ?Regular? mode also offers silhouettes of objects in the hidden object scenes. The skip and hint features are still available in the ?Advanced? mode. Beware of using the ?hint? feature, as it actually circles the item you need and tells you exactly what to do. The ?Advanced? level still has sparkles to indicate puzzles and hidden object scenes.
The adventure aspects of the game take a bit of exploration and intuition, which is entertaining. The hidden object screens don?t offer a complete list, and one must discover what they are looking for in stages. I found this annoying. I also found the hidden object scenes to be quite an eyestrain. The puzzles and mini-games were enjoyable and offered just enough of a challenge to be fun, without being at all taxing. The sound effects were quite good and lent quite a bit of atmosphere to the game play.
Overall, this is an entertaining game, on the lower level of difficulty. I wish game-play was not so linear and that one could leave an area and do more exploration, without first solving the puzzle at hand. As I also prefer crisper, dimensional graphics, actually challenging puzzles, more difficult mini-games, and no sparkles in advanced game-play, I?ll give this game a 6 on a 10 point scale.

I'm not sure about this one.
This task driven HOG was a little tough to review. It's very vague, and misleading, but I don't thing intentionally so. (As I went on I read some odd item names, so it might just be a translation issue). From the beginning, your character comes upon a broken sub and remarks that it needs work, but that it will have to wait as you have more pressing things to do. Well, you're supposed to start gathering parts and fixing the sub immediately. Beyond that, I moved along pretty well through nice graphics and okay audio. The minis are skippable, but fairly easy. The hint recharge is slower than usual, but I didn't need it much. It's worth a try, but I'm on the fence about buying this game. It really wasn't anything special, but the double punch bonus this weekend is calling to me. ;-D

Good fun
The game was fun, but had a lot of missing pieces and puzzles going all at the same time. Going back and forth and trying to remember which piece went where took time and felt like I was spending too much time backtracking. But all in all an enjoyable game.

Not exactly volcanic
In spite of a number of interesting features the adventure is, on the whole, not really captivating. However I liked the settings inside a sub, underground and undersea, the robotic gadgets and some puzzles. The flying robot is cute and the way you get rid of the spying robot spider (inspired by Red Alert 2 ??) made me laugh. I also appreciated the absence of macabre cemeteries, dead bodies, demons et al that haunt many of today's adventures (although you will meet two desiccated skeletons looking at you suspiciously in one scene - can't avoid them, can you ?) as a refreshing alternative showing that death is not the only theme that can be developed for entertainment purposes. Unfortunately, there isn't much originality as regards the rest, not even the bathysphere or the cable-car that already appeared in two other games. Similarly, several puzzles are "dj vu" and those that are random might irritate players not too keen on trial-and-error methods. Nothing outstanding either about the graphics; they are good but "standard". The HOS's are a bit of a clutter with some items hardly visible if it wasn't for the available silhouettes as extra hints, and the actions are very much the same as the tasks in most games: fix a broken lever, oil a doorlock, use a wrench... etc. In my opinion, Vulcania is a 3.2 star game with a decent playlength suitable for a rainy day, but that's as far as my recommendation goes.

Stunning!
This has to be one of the most beautiful games ever. The graphics are simply stunning. The mini games are very simple, but who cares it is well worth the money for the graphics alone - especially on a Bonus Weekend.

What a great game!!
Puzzles and HO scenes and things to find in between, it's just endless!!
HO scenes are challenging, not because they're dark or tiny, but because you need to LOOK! Also interactive with some items hidden, but these are shown in green, which I like because I find all the other things first then "open a draw" or pull a curtain" to find the rest. Also, not all objects to be found are shown at once, so a good memory speeds the finding.
Music is nice and varied and unobtrusive, so have been able to leave it on, always a bonus.
Helpful hint system too when used outside of HO scenes.
Not too much running back and forth, and new locations open up just at the right time to prevent "scene boredom".
Haven't finished yet, will be quite a long time before I reach that goal and am enjoying the challenge. A LONG game.

plodding plot
Very slow-playing game. Was expecting something a bit diff. This wasn't it. Graphics were nice, music a bit boring/repetitive. Just same old stuff.

Good mix of adventure and hidden object
This review is on the Demo Version casual mode - played the whole demo in about 40 minutes.
This is a good game. Storyline takes a little bit to get caught up with, as it is revealed through the exploration. Spent awhile trying to figure out what to do, but the hints are good in telling you where to go next.
I got into the storyline, and really liked it.
Graphics are O.K.- not outstanding, but not grainy either. It had some "jerky" qualities to it (I thought). A little dark in places, especially during hog scenes.
I didn't have the sound on because my huband was watching football - so I can't tell you about that quality
Challenge - I found the hog scenes very dark, and difficult at times to find the items. Usually I don't have to use hints on these, but I did this time. I also found it hard to find some of the "items" that one needed to pick up on the way
One thing I didn't like, is that the tutorial does not go over the notebook. The task list was uniformly "unhelpful", just saying what the main goal was.
The little "robot" from Cptn Nemo was a bit fun, but it could have added more fun to the game as a character to interact with a bit more, with it's own personality.
I also thought it weird that your first instructions from Nemo is to avoid the main character, but that is also the first place you need to go???
This is on my "maybe" list, if I get through buying all the other "collector's editions" I want. I will probably wait for it to be SE or $2.99, or when the CE's go on sale. There are better HOG games, especially CE's out there to spend your credits on.
