Royal Envoy 2 Collector's Edition 4.5 5 134 134
I loved it! The original Royal Envoy was one of the few TM Collector's Editions I bought. It was very much worth it as there were as many as 30 additional levels to it. Royal Envoy 2 stays true to that successful action. There are 63 levels with the optional challenge to get 3 stars in each, which, if met, will unlock these same levels in "expert" mode for a total of 126 challenges! And you get the 30 additional levels as part of the CE offering. The animations, the story, the music, the sound and the game mechanics kept enough similarity to the original Royal Envoy so as to keep familiarity, with a few changes to justify the "2" as in Royal Envoy 2. Play the demo to see for yourself. I also loved the many achievements. Some of them may even require that you play a level, not to get 3 stars but to get the achievement! So the replayability factor of this game is very very high. There is no walkthrough providing a solution to each level but for each level before you start it and after you end it there are short statements. They may include hints on how to approach solving the level, if you cannot figure it out by yourself. As a veteran of TM games of this kind, I found the challenge level just right, not too difficult, not too easy. By keeping your mind fluid to alternatives a solution can always be found. But play the demo and see for yourself. As a final note, I want to point that I feel that this is how good games should be: Even after the one hour demo, there are many hours of play afterwards, for those who decide to buy it. Royal Envoy 2 I enjoyed this game. A lot of people say that they don't like this game as well as the first. I enjoyed the first one immensely and I enjoyed this one just as much. The game's concept is basically the same, just a few differences. I preferred the tax collectors rather than collecting the money myself, but that's just me. I will definitely be buying this one as a SE as I don't buy any CE games. The extras aren't worth the money to me. December 18, 2011
Even Better than older one ! I know everyone have been wait for this game! so I'm too :) This game have many improvements, new characters, new buildings, new quests, and MORE ! the graphic great, good voice over, the gameplay has change -like , there are no tax collector ,so we have to pickup the money ,food, wood! P/S - Try it first, Then U will know :) December 17, 2011
Royal Envoy meets Diner Dash! At first glance, RE2 has a similar feel to the original game. The basic layouts of the game are much the same, except that you visit the districts of Middleshire rather than separate islands. And of course you are re-building them, for reasons which are explained now by the leaders of each district rather than Cedric, who is only along for the journey. However the actual gameplay has changed to become more of a 'click-fest'; rent is now collected by the player, food is picked from bushes (as in ROR) or collected from the farm and wood, whilst still produced at the sawmill if necessary, can also be collected from the forestry huts or again picked up by chopping trees. If these resources aren't collected, they disappear. The houses conveniently glow just before the rent is due, making it easier to notice the gold. Major changes include no tax collectors; they have evolved into Royal Inspectors and although they do appear in the game, play no real part in the gameplay. Quests to complete within certain levels, some which need a lot of frantic clicking to get through. New characters, some to get past in order to progress and some that help you get through a level. Banks automatically add to the rent rather than having to collect the gold (gardens also increase the rent). Enhancements add happiness wherever they are built. Some new buildings, which unfortunately also add to the constant clicking you have to do. Houses are only upgraded once. No built in walkthrough (unlike the first RE CE) so you're really on your own! Oh and watch out for some sneakily hidden treasures; not always obvious but when you find them they're a real help! The one change I have come to dislike intensely is the constant comments from the workers. I found it irritating on most levels. The market owners at least have stopped yelling 'new offer'(which I hated in the original). And to me the sad leprechauns are just annoying; I feel like giving them a good slap! There are many achievements to be won, which can be added to from the 30 bonus levels. These are fun to play but mostly fairly easy to complete in 3 star time (with one or two exceptions!). The expert levels can be very challenging, as the timer runs out very quickly! Overall I found this sequel slightly less enjoyable than the original. It has become more like 'Royal Envoy Dash' and I found having to click like crazy on some levels to collect resources quite hard work sometimes. However it is very addictive; I've had to replay some levels several times to get the 3-star time! My favourite moments? The opening video, which is just pure fun! And one of the district leaders calling Cedric 'this nerd in the blue wig'!! Priceless ;-) December 18, 2011
Love this Franchise I knew I had to buy this game as soon as I saw the sequel. I loved the first one, this is different. I love the changes. Wonderful graphics as before. The game keeps the characters you remember and love. The game changes are subtle and interesting. This is worth the collectors addition. Quad A+ December 19, 2011
Royal Envoy 2 Collector's Edition This is extremely fun and challenging! I miss the old way of upgrading houses but overall the changes are excellent. The graphics are very good. This will challenge you for hours! I highly recommend this to anyone. December 18, 2011
One of the best games this year. Enough variety and grab to keep you moving on. On first inspection it looks like a long game - and it is. So very good value for money. Becomes more challenging in later levels. Experienced time mgt fans will find it slow to begin with and somewhat predictable, so that it's more of a 'dash' than a strategy game. However later levels reverse this trend. Personally, I've very much enjoyed this game. December 22, 2011
Good resource/time management game This much-awaited sequel to RE1 is a mix of clear-the-obstacles and city-planning, and you must complete your tasks within the allotted time. Your resources are also limited, so the callenge becomes to find the best way of doing things - do I need to build a Sawmill to get wood first, or some houses to earn gold? Your overall mission is to re-build the 10 countries of Middleshire, and the 63 different levels give you quite a variation in what types of quests; some require a bit of strategic thinking, others are more quick-paced. Your produce-buildings and houses will drop wood/food/money directly on the ground, and you must click to pick it up. The same goes for wood chopped, food picked, treasure found etc - so this game has turned into a clicka-clicka dash-type game at times. This made the game slightly less enjoyable to me, but players who like the more frantic TM games will perhaps like it better. All in all I found this game to be easier that RE1 - you have more resources available faster (if you click fast enough), the timer is gentler and some levels had a "only one correct sequence" feel to it that made some quests somewhat boilerplate. Minigames are incorporated into some of the quests, typically the last one of each 'country', and that added to the variation of the obstacles in general. As mentioned, there are 63 levels, and if you get gold time on the levels in normal mode you will unlock Expert mode, where you can play the levels again, but with a more punishing timer. Get achievements, both in the normal mode and in the expert mode -such as "build 500 houses", or "win 10 snowball fights". It is a very good game on its own, but gameplay in this one has become more focused on clicka-clicka and speed, and less on strategy - this made the game a bit repetitive and less challenging to me. But it is long, characters are interesting and nicely done, a lot of fun (written) dialogue - and re-play value is excellent if you want to win all the achievements. Well worth a try. Best game in a long time Finally a game that i wanted to buy straight away! Its brilliant, the graphics are really good too. Just the game i was looking for! December 18, 2011
A Great Edition to the Franchise A fantastic game. My only complaints are about the smoke and fog levels. I am not a hard core gamer and they were very difficult for me to complete even with the built in walk thru. December 22, 2011
