Well, Just another Boring CE, I dislike it coz the HOG scene are Hard ( the object sometimes small) , Boring Music , but great in Graphics and Voice over ! not Stunning like other CE ~
I think Stray Souls and Sacra Terra is Better than this!

What Happened To The End??
I have played both the Standard Edition, and have just finished playing the Collector's Edition, of House of 1000 Doors: Family Secrets, and I have to say the Collector's Edition was a bit of a disappointment, and I feel slightly cheated. Not the game itself, which I love, but the abrupt, unsatisfying ending. This and the other House of 1000 Doors games are among my favorite Hidden Object games, and I have purchased both the Standard and the Collector's Edition of each one, and think they are fantastic. I love the stories, and the games are beautifully done, with clear graphic, unlike some games, where the rest of the game is great, but when you reach a Hidden Object Game, the artwork is so blurry and indistinct, you can barely recognize a dog as a dog. I never have the music playing I find it annoying and distracting, so I can't comment on that, but I love the story line. Having played House of 1000 Door: Serpent Flame, Collector's Edition, and absolutely loving it, I expected something similar from this game, but the ending, or in my opinion lack of an ending, meant I am less enthused about this game. If I had stuck to the Standard Edition, and not played the Collector's Edition, I would have given 5 stars, but this one only rates a 3.5, (I gave four, because I couldn't bring myself to give it 3, but there isn't a half score). I really hope there will be more 1000 Door's games, as I think they are wonderful. But I will stick to the Standard Editions in future

The Other Side Of The Coin
I'm a senior citizen and I can't keep up with the depth and speed needed to play most of the games the youngsters seem to go for. I played this one, got through it without having read cheats and for someone of my age I found the game intriguing and delightful to play. At very good game at a comfortable speed for the "not so Young" Quite good overall.

Beautiful HOPA! Hour(s)-long bonus chapter!
I knew right away that I would really like this game. The graphics are lovely, and the soundtrack is nice. The interactive HOS are challenging without being tedious, I only used the hint once (on the same HO, lol) in each of the two times I played through it. The puzzles weren't terribly challenging, a few just seemed like busy work to me (a lot of swapping or turning tiles). There were a couple things I thought could use some more attention; more back story on the subjects of the portraits would have been a nice bonus (given the title) and earning an achievement or bonus content for finding all the morphing "beyond objects" would have made it even better. It took me about 5 hours to play the game and bonus chapter the 2nd time. All in all, I enjoyed this game and I'll probably play it again soon.

After a bit it just seemed like I was going through the motions. It was fun at first, but the visuals were rather horrible. Some scene noises were annoying and I had to turn them down. It was fairly easy, even with some of the puzzle scenes. I am not sure I would play it again though. Pretty good for a beginner, I would think.

This is good. Graphics are excellent. Puzzles are fairly difficult, takes me hours to solve it. Storyline is good too, keeps you on the edge. And the CE is totally worth it. The bonus game is equally difficult and I'm addicted to it.
I would definitely recommend it.

I absolutely loved this game.
The storyline was awesome, graphic were great, music was just okay.. but definitely not as bad as some I have played. The voice overs were well done, as were the characters.
What I loved about this game in particular was the map. Not only did it show the active rooms but you could also travel from place to place with it.. which in my eyes was fabulous. It gave you a lot more time to experience the game and mini-puzzles without having to go back and forth the long way.
If you are looking for a great game, give this one a try.. I doubt you will be disappointed.

A lot of icing but no cake....
Visually, sound-wise, and the way the mini games were incorporated into gameplay were excellent, yet it is not necessary for developers to bombard the overt evil at us. Developers would be wise to serve gamers spooky and chills without going overboard with the overt dark themes. There have been other games recently that were similar and better (ie. more frightening) simply because of the subtlety. ...mid to 3/4 of the way through, playing this actually got to be depressing and a chore.

Good game for a rainy day
About the game:
- Two modes of play - casual and expert.
- 35 morphing objects to find.
- Plenty of hidden objects to find - great if you like HOs.
- You have a diary to read.
- Story line is easy to follow and you have voiceovers.
- Music is non-intrusive - just quietly in the background.
- A long game, so you definitely get your money's worth.
- The extra chapter doesn't add anything - just someone extra to help.
- Graphics mostly fine - a bit grainy and cluttered is some areas.
- The skip button and Strategy Guide are good if you need it.
This game is perfect for a Sunday afternoon or a rainy day. Its easy to play and is perfect for an intermediate or new player. However, if you're an expert you may find this a bit non-challenging.
