A bit morbid but high level of fun guaranteed
I had the privilege and pleasure of beta testing this second installment and was, right from the start, struck by its beauty.
Mozart's Requiem acted as an indication my initial feeling wasn't wrong and what was to follow should be good.
Well, it IS good, very good !
So good that I purchased the CE, although I don't usually buy Collector's Editions. I made an exception this time and I am glad I did as I found that the bonus chapter provided a much better ending, not to say the logical conclusion to that quest.
Nonetheless, the ending in the SE is very satisfactory.
Either way you can't go wrong.
Here is what to expect from the game:
- a very good intro and good cutscenes
- stunningly gorgeous graphics, richly detailed and worth interrupting your search simply to enjoy looking at them,
- an eerie, atmospheric music, which, for once, I didn't have to turn off, as it is never disturbing and fits in the overall climax quite well
- lots of puzzles and minigames, some fairly easy, others more tricky but not to the point of driving you nuts, and all can be skipped; .
- plenty of HO Scenes that are not mere junkpiles requiring a microscope to find the items,
- many splendid locales to explore and re-explore
- lots of tasks to perform, all of which are good fun, not far-fetched, challenging enough to require some thinking without playing with your nerves
- a friendly hint system with a decent recharge rate, helping you to find items and decide what to do next
- hence a well-balanced challenge level,
- clear objectives and clues given on screen and in the journal
- and a coherent storyline, which unfolds well and is quite interesting to follow
However, there is no voice-over; personally I prefer none to amateurism that doesn't sound natural.
There's no map and quite a bit of bouncing to do from scene to scene; but that's no real problem: it's easy to draw your own map as you go along, and backtracking cuts off the linerarity anyway; the game doesn't babysit you thereby ensuring a better challenge.
Add to that a few ghosts, a deliciously macabre climax, creepy but not excessive, hidden passageways and a more than decent gamelength, around 8 to 8.5 hours for the SE, even a bit longer if you don't rush through the game and linger as I did to admire the artwork.
The SE deserve 4.5 stars which I round up to 5.

Truly Enjoyed!
Tried the trial version and got hooked. Just the right amt of HOS as well as other mini games that appeared to break up the pace along the way. Great artwork - in some scenes the 'demon' appeared out of nowhere so if you are not in to this type of story you may want to avoid. The music was also good. The story kept you going from one scene back to another and so forth but not hard to follow at all. Just the right amt of mini games to avoid you get bored with the story and they kept switching the type of mini games around to keep you interested which I also liked.
Would definately download any sequel to the story and most likely buy as well if it is as well thought out as this one. Would hightly recommend.

Haunted Manor: Queen of Death (SE)
I totally enjoyed this game even without voice over?s.
The game developed by; Top Evidence Studio, hats off to you lot!
Sparkles - Yes they appear and towards the end you sort of give thanks they do.
HOS - is clear, not dark, and no magnifying glass to find items (hooray) I really hate HOS in dark rooms trying to find objects that small you need the magnifying glass. Only one thing about the HOS towards the end, and I won't tell you what I thought I want you to experience it and you will understand why - when I say you won't forget that part of this game.
Graphics - Excellent! Again clear, beautiful and well detailed
Mini Puzzle - Heaps of them and not hard to do, and the skip button does not take ages to generate.
Music - so enjoyed
Hints - These refresh in about 1 min
Map - none, but you can use the hints to assist direction
Clicking - no penalty - so go for it!
This is a great game to sit back and get totally involved in.
I give this the (((((Rawww)))) of approval!

Gently entertaining
This game features nice graphics and a good range of locales. The sound track is quietly unobtrusive. The gameplay was smooth and trouble-free.
It is a pleasant gaming experience rather than a challenge. The number of HO scenes in the early part of the game is encouragingly small - these including "interactive" items (some of these are slightly teasing because the scenes will be used again later in the game and not all indicated areas in the earlier visits might result in anything useful).
The latter part of the game becomes more HO oriented, unfortunate if this is not your favourite genre!

Haunted Manor: Queen of Death
Definitely pick this one for a rainy weekend or when you're looking for a medium challenge. Not the most difficult, but def not the easiest HO game I've played.

Loved It!!
I am a HO freak and have played them all! This is a good one. I was somewhat disappointed by Ravenhurst 4, but this one doesn't disappoint. My only regret was that I didn't buy the collectors edition first (money issues kept me from doing it ). Do it, you won't be sorry!

Best Game I've played in ages!
Just finished this game, and I can't think of a thing I didn't like about it! The storyline was interesting, the graphics were superb, and the puzzles were challenging. There were times when the Hint button could have given just a bit more info, and I must admit that I did use the Hint button frequently! Very challenging game, but loads of fun!

Excellent game
This game is quite good. The graphics are terrific, the storyline is good, the music is good without becoming annoying. No voice overs. The HOs and puzzles were above average, a challenge but definitely doable.
The game took me about 5+ hours I think but did not become mundane or monotaneous.
Even though I rarely use them, it could have used a map and/or notebook as it becomes quite large. I did spent some time "walking" as some items took quite awhile to find (in fact some I thought I might have missed), and then I forgot where I needed to put them.
Overall this is an excellent game that is well worth the price for either the SE or CE. I highly recommend this game.

Lovingly designed Hidden Object Adventure
Very clear arranged Hidden Object scenes and multitude of challenging riddles brought me many hours of gamefun.
Although the first impression seemed a bit old fashioned, I can recommend the purchase without compunction.
