Excellent loooooooong game! This is a wonderful game that actually feels more like several games in one. I believe it took me nearly eight hours to play because of the cut scenes that draw you in. I love to feel I am a character in a movie and this game does that very well; the high quality voice overs add to that feeling. Loved it! I now wish I had purchased the collector's edition. House Of 1000 Doors:Family Secrets I enjoyed the game immensely.I would recommend this game to anyone. January 20, 2012
Easy going fun I did the demos on both CE and standard. Ending up buying standard. I found it easy going with out pressure to complete quickly which connects to the music that plays. The art was really beautiful. HOS were not difficult and the hint buttons filled quickly. They were easy to follow and the objects were not too small or totally hidden. I also liked the fact that there was not a lot of running back and forth with all puzzles for each ghost in a relatively small area. Only running around was to portrait room. The story was enjoyable and even though it follows on a recurring theme of the occult and ghosts, it was not boring and different enough to keep it interesting. The map was helpful when I needed a nudge of what to do next. Overall the game was worthwhile and worth the money. January 21, 2012
Too much back and forth I will be the contrarian here. The game is gorgeous, the HO scenes are mostly well done, the music is fine and the voice acting is better than most. Nice variety of puzzles and mini-games. But ... the constant back and forth had me seething. And it isn't as if you're only backtracking a room or two at a time. If I hadn't had the strategy guide, I probably would have just given up the ghost (pun intended). January 26, 2012
ho-hum Sometimes the developers get the idea that novelty in games is not what we are seeking. This game is another boring entry into the world of the occult and ghostly apparitions. Technically the game is slow with brief time lags between finding a final object and receiving the inventory item. I found this annoying. Unless there is some resolution to finding morphing objects, what is the point in having them? This game has 35 of them...whoopee!! Mind you I only did the hour trial and perhaps in the long run I might be selling this game short; however I'm getting really tired of the same old same old approach used by the devs. Assuming devs read some of these reviews here are a couple of novel ideas for new games: 1. a sci-fi HOG set on an alien planet where our protagonist must deal with the mysteries presented by such a strange world. 2. A HOG set in prehistoric times where the main character must deal with the trials and tribulations inherent with that era. January 21, 2012
awesome mind mending game! i played the hour trial of this first, then had to buy it..ITS LIKE "SHADOWGATE" FOR THE OLD NINTENDO NES SYSTEM..completely different from the same old boring match 3 and hidden object game.ya have to use certin keys to open certin doors and use certin objects to make certin things work..its awesome..definately play this..i been playing it for 3 nights now,and i play about 3-4 hours a night..i even talked my 14 yr old daughter into getting into it..we both love it...its mind boggling...we both luv it.....! Game of 1000 Let-Downs From all the reviews, I thought this would be a good game. I was pretty let down. Here are my thoughts on the game: Good Parts: A very spooky game Gripping storyline Some hard to find objects put a good twist on the game OK Parts: Took me quite a bit of time to get into, but after that, it was a pretty good game Bad Parts: The minigames were annoying and unnecessarily hard 60 seconds to recharge the hint on casual mode. About half my free trial was spent just recharging the hint The majority of the time I couldn?t figure out what to do. For all the positive reviews, it wasn?t a very good game. I?d still recommend it though. May 20, 2012
hard but fun this is a very challenging HO game. i would say i am an intermediate player of HO games and i had a little trouble with it. it has very good graphics and everything and it is very plain to see the scenes but it is hard to finish. worth the effort though!!!! February 5, 2012
pretty beautiful graphics, smooth play through Vista. Not too many HOS and there is a map to jump from scene to scene! A bonus level would be cool. February 3, 2012
bigblue07 I simply enjoyed playing. I was afraid that this game would have too much evil. Instead, it wasn't about evil at all. The ghosts were not threatening, and not too many horrible faces or snakes. Intriguing, love HOS, minigames & adventure in the same game. Beautifully drawn with great graphics to place you there. The musical score was inspired because it was actually soothing, rather than frightening as I expected. The challenge was actually in solving`the doors leaving one feeling accomplishment. We are anxiously awaiting for the next set of doors since we haven't seen all. BigFish exclusive games always leave me wanting more. I have enjoyed many games with sequels, been here since 2006, still no regrets. keep it up!!! February 14, 2012
