Not for me!
I played the trial hour of this on the easiest level and found it only mediocre. I agree with other reviewers that the guide is of little help. I gave up when I used too much time having to search for the final spider.
Yes, the visual aspect of this game is excellent, but if the game is tedious - what's the point?
There's no way I'd pay $14 for this game.

Disappointing for such a potentially great game
I have just finished the demo so it is only based on that.
The good things. The storyline is extremely unusual and very interesting. The HOS's are also well done especially the pool one which was brilliant. The puzzles were challenging but not impossible. Hint button worked very well as they all seem to do now almost making the SG defunct.
My problem was the graphics which were very grainy all the way through apart from the pond HOS which was so real it was if you were looking into a real fish laden lake. If they succeeded in having great graphics for that then why were the story graphics so bad. There are so many great games out there with wonderful graphics which I would buy before this one. If you don't mind grainy graphics it would be a great buy.

Not Quite Fairies at the Bottom of the Garden
I bought this game as I was looking forward to a fanasy game instead of the usual ghosts, witches etc. I wasnt disappointed. The look of the game was everything you would have expected from this company, beautiful graphics, absorbing storyline and imagative creatures in the form of a hobgoblin, seahorse and the main nastie the shadow. As I prefer to read the cutscenses and conversations, I cannot comment on the voiceovers. This game has a lot of puzzles that are doable for all levels of skill. I played casual with a wide screen. The epiloque is of the same standard as the main game. I finished it in 7 hours.

A must have Game!!
BUY THIS GAME!! From the beginning this game draws you in. The graphics and visuals are stunning, the Storyline very believable and I truly got immersed into this game! What started out as the hour version had me buying this immediately. I loved that you could achieve medals for different things (using no hints in a chapter / finishing minigames in record time etc). I also really enjoyed unlocking the "Epiloge" game attached to this Collectors Edition .. it gave it just another edge over other games. I would have to say this is in my Top 3 games and I have been a member for 3 years. WELL DONE!! Brilliant buy.

Otherworld:Spring of Shadows Collector's Edition
Well, I finally played a game that wasn't dark. The lights were on throughout this beautiful game. Beautiful scenery, great puzzles, good music the best all round game I've played in a long time. Hooray!!!!!

Amazing Mystery
I am not a big fan of HO games, but this games scenery drew me in, after reading the reviews I decided to give it a try.. For me, I was a bit lost in the beginning, but as I continued to play I started getting the hang of it without using the guide. I actually enjoyed it, I was pleased because I dislike games that I have to find every wing in the trees and x amount of wood chips and such.. It is refreshing to play a game that isn't all about being horrid and spooky. The artwork on this game is incredible, very breath taking.. I will definitely purchase this game because I want to save Fiona and finish the rest of the story. This game has a huge file, so plan on taking a coffee break while it downloads.

Played quite awhile and had no HOS
Of all the HOG's I've played, I liked this the least. I haven't been playing long enough to be expert, but I thought the integrated guide was hard to read (compared to every other game I've purchased) and I didn't think the flowery scenes were concise...kind of blurry..I would not buy this game. Games like Lost Souls, Masestro, Notes of Life had great visuals and I personally like the regular HOS scenes. If you look at my games I've purchased, they were all better than this one. I'm glad you give us a trial game before buying. I usually enjoy them all. I certainly would not pay the Collector's Edition price. I'm not trying to be so negative, because I've always enjoyed your games....but this one I would not want if it was free. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to express my opinion.

So, so, so Fun!!!!
Play it on hard and get the most out of it! You can do it! And if by chance you made need a bit of help the S.G. is on the same page you are!!! Such a wonderful game to immerse yourself in!!!

I was not impressed..
It is rare that I don't much enjoy a game that I picked and especially one with such a high rating from other reviewers.. but this game was just nothing special, in my eyes. All in all, I thought it was just too easy. I also was not impressed with the graphics. I mean, they were good, don't get me wrong.. but it felt kind of dark, and not in a good way. The graphics just did not seem to pop and the music, well I can't say much for that either. The cut-scenes were good, as was the story line.
Also, being a collectors edition.. I always look forward to the extra chapter of game play.. but to me, it was too short and seemd to be lacking.
So all in all, I was not impressed. I should of saved my money or bought something else. But on a good note, it was about 7 hours of game play.. not bad, considering.

Best Game I've Played All Year!!
This is a great game, everything you could ask for, beautiful graphics, great music, well done voice overs (sounds a lot like Kate Winset!), an interesting storyline and NO HOG! There are puzzles, and some are a little difficult. I decided to test myself and played in hardcore mode for the first time, surprisingly it was not too bad. I only had to reference the SG in the epilogue. Instead of HOG you need to find 5 of this 7 of that, 20 spiders in one scene etc. Much more to my liking that the laundry list of ?hunting out garbage? (per my DH). :) There is a map, but only for a limited time in one area. There are achievements which are always fun..
Length of game play varies amongst players, I savor every minute, enjoying the graphics and music while investigating every nook and corner (there is one scene where the character says, ?I like to snoop through other peoples things??or something similar to that). Your time is shown at the end of the game, mine was 8 hours 23 minutes and that was without playing the bonus game. You definitely get your monies worth here!
Story is fantasy meets fairy tale. The ?bad guy? is rather creepy, you also get your goblins, fairies, gnomes and a few other creatures. It is a story of good vs. evil, dark vs. light. Nothing that should offend personal beliefs or tastes. No blood or violence. No skulls or graveyards. There is a crowbar!
All in all this game has it all. Kudos to Boom Zap, the dev.?s, who are also the creators of the Awakening series?. one of my favorites although they definitely took a giant step forward with this game and IMHO created a genuine masterpiece.
Loved it and highly recommend it! Enjoy and savor every minute!
