Time Mysteries: The Ancient Spectres
An interesting game with time travelling. Objects to be found are inter acted either in the time you are in or to a time where you have to either fast forward or back through the year buttons. As such this made a different kind of game. Graphics were good so also the story line. Basically you had to destroy the witch and to release Merlin. Puzzles weren?t too difficult and there was an alternative to playing the HO?s which, unfortunately, was just as boring as the HO?s of which there were very many. I would summarise this game as Game movement 50%. HO?s 45%. Puzzles 5%. Luckily the hint button recharged almost immediately so I was able to use this virtually non-stop, this cleared the HO?s in record time especially as there was no cursor break up. If you like point and click to find objects in a junkyard you will love this game. Whilst the game was different the overabundance of HO?s and a very monosyllabic female voice over reduced the appeal from a 4 star rating to a 2 star rating. Allowing for some gamesters liking HO?s for them I would give the game 4 stars. There was also a lot of backwards and forwards movements which, together with the many HO?s, helped to make this a long game. I think that without these it would have been one of Big Fish?s short games. I struggled to get to the end of the game only to find it was going to be continued but definitely not for me. I will recommend this game but only for HO lovers.

I would not recommend
This game keeps you running around in circles going from one time period to the next. The hints offered really don't help as to what to do next even though you are given objectives to meet. I have played many of this type of game but would not recommend it to the serious gamer.

I made the mistake of playing the series in order, meaning I played inheritance first. I don't recommend doing that if you want to play this game. They are basically completely unrelated. Even though the first game had simplistic, and at times frustrating, game play I fell in love with the clean graphics, the HO that weren't junkpiles, and the real sense of history and culture of each location (and there were many!). I was highly disappointed to realize this game had basically nothing to do with it's predecessor. Not just with the retconning of the backstory, but also in tone and style.
Maybe I would have liked it if I hadn't just played inheritance first, but I can't say I was happy to see junkpiles, historical inaccuracy, limited travel locations, and a still frustrating hint system drowned out all the charm of the last game. I want ball and vivian back. :(

I am writing this based on the trial as I did not like it enough to purchase. In fact there was nothing about this game that appealed to me at all. Maybe if I was a beginner I would have been impressed but when there are so many other great games available (Dark Parable Series for instance) why would any one bother with this one. It is not attractive or pretty but it is dark and gloomy and who cares what the story was about - certainly not me.

Hated this game!
This is my first time to complain about a game. The scenes were grainy, the hidden object scenes were grainy junk piles, the worst I have ever seen. The music made you feel like you had to hurry, not at all relaxing. I bought this game not realizing how bad it would be. Waste of money. I will be deleteing this game before I even finish it!
