Great game, but a teleportation map would have been good This was a really long, fun, and interesting game, with lots to do, and many places to visit. The graphics were excellent, although I cannot comment on sound quality, as I typically play with the sound off. By biggest pet peeve with this and many other games is that there is very little direction using the hint system to seer you in the right direction, should you find yourself lost, so why developers still fail to include a teleporting map is beyond me. I had decided not to buy this game after playing the demo, but then changed my mind, and purchased the collector's edition, and I was pleasantly suprised. The CE does have a really great strategy guide, which was really helpful, but I would have had to rely on it less with a better hint system and map. This is where I give it a point off, but I do enjoy collecting things, which in this game is red flowers. It took me quite a bit longer than normal to complete the game and bonus content, just because I had to refer to the SG so often. Other than that, it is a great game, well worth trying, and bying the CE is beneficial for people like me, whose memory is not as sharp as it once was. March 15, 2012
Good game, with a few flaws This is a relatively good game for the most part, and certainly better than some newer games out there in the same category. That being said, it has some flaws, many of which I think will be more frustrating for a more novice player than an experienced one, but they're still not necessarily a thrill even as an experienced player. I enjoyed playing it for the most part, but I'm not entirely sure it's worth it as a CE or not. The storyline is okay, if a bit cheesy at times. It's those over-the-top moments that detract from it the most and take away from some of the better aspects. The graphics are pretty good, but the animated/cut scenes are not the best. Mainly because they use live actors, and the live actors stick out a bit. They are better than in some newer games (Web of Deceit comes to mind as a newer one where the live actors don't fit in at all and really ruin it), and seem to blend into the scenes better, but they're still not great. Their speech doesn't match their mouths at all, I think in part because the actors aren't originally speaking English. (I'm guessing Russian from some of the mouth movements compared to the English words. Not important, but there you have it.) Anyway, it makes the live action scenes a bit hard to watch. The costumes are a bit over the top as well, even given the storyline. (Why do there seem to be so many cheesy robe costumes, and why does Kira have her son wearing his while they're on Earth? She's wearing "normal" clothes, after all.) The voice acting is okay, though nothing to write home about either. The sound is fine as well, it didn't really stand out, but didn't bother me either. The game plays relatively well, other than more back and forth than I think is necessary. It can also sometimes take so long to get an item you need for somewhere that you'll find yourself trying to remember where you needed it. And occasionally, some of the objects are used in a way that isn't at all intuitive, leading you to occasionally try almost everything in your inventory just to make sure you aren't missing some off the wall usage for something. There is an interactive map, which is nice for jumping between locations, but it's still a fair amount of back and forth even with that time-saver. I also wish that you could have combined items that needed to be combined in your inventory, rather than having to go back to a location to combine them before ultimately picking them up. That may just be my personal preference, but it certainly would have cut down on some of the back and forth. You'll encounter something that you know you need another piece to complete, but you can't take it with you - you have to take the piece back to the object before everything goes with you. That being said, this is the first game I think I've tried where the hidden object scenes use items from your inventory, which is a neat feature. (What you need tends to be rather obvious once you're in the hidden object scenes, so those aren't the oddly used items usually.) The game has three levels of difficulty, as well as hints and a strategy guide. Of course, since most games have walkthroughs online these days, the strategy guide is more of a nice thing to have in the game rather than the only way to get extra info. I didn't use the hints, so I can't comment on how they work. You can also collect sort-of hidden flowers throughout the game to earn some extra bonus mini-games, which is kind of neat. The bonus gameplay is an actual bonus - while it sort of continues the storyline, it's not a necessary part of the main storyline, it's just extra. Which is how bonus gameplay should be, so that's a good thing. That being said, I didn't find the bonus gameplay so compelling that I'd recommend getting the CE just to have it. It's not awful, it's just not fabulous either. There are also the typical extras included with a lot of CEs as well. Ultimately, it's an enjoyable game which I'd recommend, I'm just not sure if the CE is necessarily worth the extra price. If you can get it on sale or for free, then go for it. Otherwise, consider if the extra gameplay (and other extras) are worth the extra price to you or not. But despite the flaws, I'd recommend this game, whether you go for the CE or the SE. Great game! This was a nice, long game with a great mix of puzzle, HO, and story elements. The visuals were clear enough that I didn't feel like I wanted to just turn the lights up during the HO scenes and the look of the game had multiple background scenes that were just beautiful. I really enjoyed the mix of the mundane with the fantastic. The puzzles were mildly challenging without wanting to rip your hair out, and I like the achievements aspect, as that makes me reluctant to use the hint button. I didn't need it, so that may indicate not enough of a challenge, but I never felt like I was wasting time. There were a couple of spots where I got stuck, not knowing where I needed to go to finish HO scenes, so I really appreciated having the strategy guide right there which allowed me to get back on track. The bonus play was very nice as well. It was great to see the story wrapped up completely in the main game but still have valid plot left for bonus. This is one of the few CE games that I thought was really worth the extra money. February 24, 2012
Impressing! interesting and very Immersive story: finding your family disappeared in the parallel world. Very well done graphics, videos, excellent voice over, great sound, intriguing characters, impressive atmosphere. Right amount of interactive HOS, not too challenge, but nice. Some mini games are new and good challenging, others are well known and easy. February 15, 2012
Interesting This is a fun game. I played in the casual mode and found the game very interesting but not alot of challenge. The story line is fun and different. Those that only like hard core adventure may not enjoy this. Great puzzles, interaction,HOS scenes. Extra in collecting flowers. Clear bright scenes. Have fun with the water. February 2, 2012
Dark, Creepy, Eerie, Fun Hidden Object Game The hidden object scenes were great. The graphics were vibtant, crisp, and interesting. They H.O. s were hard to moderately hard. The soundtrack was nothing special, with some parts eerie and creepy. The mini games were really puzzlers and a lot of fun. The game was not predictable, it was very challenging with a unique storyline. You collect flowers to unclock bonus . February 3, 2012
Surface, aliens are back... Beta tested this game ages ago, June may be, don't really remember. - 4 chapters + bonus play - Integrated SG which remains on the page you left - 3 gameplay modes, casuald, advanced, hard core - Map, you can jump from one place to another - You've got to find 50 (or was it 60 ?) red flowers throughout the game - Voiceovers and real characters - You don't interact in H0, objects not too easy to find - Very useful hint button, even outside H0, which refills quickly - Skip button fills straight away - Some mini games are different from the regular ones a + - Very good graphics Wasn't too keen on this alien thing when I beta tested the game, save the world seemed so pretentious and a worn out idea but the gameplay is interesting, you want to rescue the little boy and your interest is aroused. A buy for me. February 2, 2012
Hard, but good This was a very well done if somewhat confusing game. The plot took it's time to get going, but then got very good. I found it quite hard at times, even on Casual, but I may just be out of practice. May 2, 2012
really different storyline I played the beta version of this game and couldnt wait for the CE version to come out. It didnt disappoint. Although i dont usually like live actors i think they di a good job and was fittting for this story. Beautiful crisp clear graphics and good music. I did like using inventory item in the HOG scenes. Great game overall! February 7, 2012
