Good Game I really liked this game it reminded me of the Mystery Trackers games. it was easy to understand. I loved it. January 25, 2012
Ok Game but NOT CE worthy This game is VERY short! It's not a bad game, but I don't think it should be CE by any stretch. Pretty much a good seek and find. The puzzles are either so easy that there is no challenge or so abstract that there is no way to see where there going with it (at least not to me) The hints recharge quickly and the SG was helpful, but in all honesty I could have just used the hint button. It was good. The artwork is ok, and the game is pretty cool, but I was done in less than 4 hours and that seems like a short game for $14. To be fair, I have not played the bonus content, but I usually don't.. There are 4 chapters and while the 4th is by far the longest, I was really expecting more. The ending is weird and rather sudden and leaves you knowing that there is going to be a sequal. I was shocked at how much detail went into the game and then, suddenly, it was over. All in all, not a bad game but WAY too short for a CE. I cannot recommend the game as a CE but as a regular edition, it would be a definate buy! January 21, 2012
A standard, not very challenging "adventure" This story, from the developers of the Fear for Sale series, involving a nasty witch [witches are always nasty by definition] is a conventional blend of HOG and simple Adventure. The games starts off nicely but since the demo doesn't take you farther than the beginning of Chapter 2 [pages 9 to 11], it is [once again] difficult to determine whether the rest gets better or not. The 1 hour I spent in company of the heroine, the little girl and the witch was nevertheless quite pleasant, easy going and pretty straighforward. HOGs are a bit crowded as usual but quite manageable and the Hint System helpful although it doesn't recharge fast. It also points at what you need to see or do. And of course guess what one of the hidden objects is ?... a skull [they're everywhere, LOL !]. Nothing scary however, the game being gentle and the developers conscious not to go to extremes in the field of gloom. Among the tasks I noted with amusement one very funny invention; you have to do something very special to a door handle. I will not say what, obviously. The rest is similar to the tasks you're used to perform in other games. The puzzles I saw were interesting though not extraordinary and perfectly solvable without any help. They can be skipped and reset. Backtracking throughout the demo is reduced to a minimum as the game is rather linear. This may change as of Chapter 2... maybe. As a result, the number of locations to explore seems to be low, but that also may change later on in the game. I was surprised by the relative poverty of the other features. I expected stunning visuals; they are nice, well drawn and lively colored, but nothing more than that. Same remark regarding the intro, custcenes and animations; not bad, movie like, but not astounding. The voice-overs are so-so as they don't sound very natural, except the witch's voice acting which is a little better. They were a lot more convincing in Sunnyvale. The worst is the music: awful; one theme played on the organ sounds like church music during a funeral, another is simply ridiculous, without any melody. I turned it off. Let's add to that: 2 Modes, a wide screen option, and a custom cursor. I am not sure the CE is worth the extra expense; I am waiting for the SE. But one thing is certain: the game would have gained in quality had the artwork been polished and the soundtrack redone from scratch. Can be recommended in spite of the imperfections. I don't mean to sound picky, but... This game could have been a lot better. The plot is decent, it certainly makes you want to help the little girl and stuff, but there are things that can be improved: - Cartoon-ish environment mixed with real actors and 3D characters all at the same time? Please decide with one single animation style, otherwise it's unrealistic and confusing. - Backgroud music sounds a bit poor compared to previous games. On the bright side the HOS are ok, it's not hard to play (strategy guide and hints are not necesary) and this game allow us to play on full screen with the option to adjust it if you have a wide screen, which is not a minor detail. Great game but too many backtacking Another dark-themed game with the same old-style plot, it doesn't fascinate me that much. The graphics and live acting in the game are awesome, with great voice overs and music. Puzzles are also very nice so the HOG scenes. However, there're FAR too much backtracking in the game, a map would be useful, i get lost constantly don't know where to go next and it's so frustrating and confusing :( January 23, 2012
GREAT BUT CAN'T FINISH WITHOUT STARTING OVER Inventory items need to be used in a certain order, but the game allows other use, then prohibits letting you proceed. The result is that you need to start over and repeat hours of work, plus you need to know what order to use the items. That makes a great game into one not worth playing. Too bad, because this is / was a really fun game. January 24, 2012
Not as good as I hoped Shame really, the premise was good and I rather liked the door knob with a cold, but even in Expert mode it only took just over 1/2 hr to do the demo. Much too easy so I won't be buying. January 19, 2012
Witches' Legacy:The Charlestson Curse CE This was a standard but entertaining game. This game is not bad in any way ,just ok .I do like the real actors in the game it gives it a nice twist, storyline is somewhat bleak. Not completely ''blown away" by the game in the hour that i played it.I was somewhat entertained a bit.. I enjoyed just playing for an hour to me that was sufficient to determine wether the game was worth buying.I played it somewhat enjoyable but,it doesn't make me want to buy it. January 26, 2012
Witch Chase It was a long game, not in being confounded with hidden clues & puzzles....but going from one venue to the other to find a clue and then go through many, many more to apply that clue. Up the stairs, down the stairs, outside, inside, up a ladder, through a tunnel. The hidden object games were good, objects really tucked in among the scenery. Had to use hints several times. I wish the little imps had played a bigger role in the story line. I'm glad I used a "freebie" to get this game. Would I recommend this game? Yes, but for beginners only. April 22, 2012
