Solid Game Not a new concept: stuck investigating an asylum you have no memory of getting to. However, the game was pretty thrilling and scary at times and really drew you in. This being said, I did purchase the game. The whole game had wonderful graphics and rarely did the music/voiceovers make me annoyed, except the volume appeared to vary greatly from scene to scene. The HOS were very plentiful and some of them had small items. I disliked that the HOS were repetitive and that some of the objects I had removed earlier suddenly reappeared. The puzzles were too easy. However, determining where to go and what to do could be a challenge at times. I would have liked a map. The strategy guide was unique in that it showed you where you should be and highlighted areas you still needed to complete. Mine had a small glitch and kept showing me an area I had already completed. The game took me approx 3 hours to complete, and the bonus game was of decent length but didn't add much to the overall story. If you like lots of HOS and a suspenseful game, this is for you. Real Thriller! I like that the developer of the game suggests to play with the lights off and the sound on. Do this to get the full effect of the game. The sounds are great and kind of creeps you out! There were a few more HO scenes than I would like to see but overall the demo seemed pretty good. I like the way they use wormy looking squiggles to mark the HO scenes instead of sparkles which was different and how each time you click on the items, they kind of go "poof" with a special sound effect so giving attention to those little things makes the game interesting. Also, it was kind of cool to see one HO scene in the shape of a phone. I only played the demo so not sure if there are many puzzles yet but there seems to be lots to do along the way. The kitchen mini game was a little different too. It's not the greatest game I've played but worth playing, especially with the sound effects and the voice overs which make it more real and creepy! It scared me! The makers start off with a warning about this game being scary and to play with the lights off and volume up for optimum, I kept the lights on but did turn the volume up...I had to turn it back down - I scare easily. I liked the game - it's an asylum type HOG with the spooky hospital, freaky evil doctor and a little kid running around that I don't know if she was suppose to be helpful or not - I'll have to buy the game and see! It's a fairly dark environment, not meaning the storyline (but that's really dark) but the visual parts. Normally, that just ticks me off but I could still find the hidden objects and the puzzles were different and not something I've seen in other HOGs. With the wind blowing outside at 30mph that also added to the scare factor, along with my dogs sharing their point of view over the spooky man's voice - they didn't like him and started barking every time he spoke, which cracked me up! I played the regular mode and I don't think I made it very far - lots of searching and trying to figure out what worked where and that's my favorite part! I like to gather lots of items and then start using them. The tension builds throughout the game cause you've got Mr. Creepy Voice, scary music (wind outside!), restless dogs (inside!) and I'm waiting for something to happen, cause after all, I've been warned by the game makers...then it happens! Something wild and then my hour is up! My heart is still racing as I'm writing this cause I'm not sure if I should go ahead and buy this game to keep my heart attack going at maximum speed or try to relax with all the lights on and wait until tomorrow so I can get scared all over again...hmmm. I liked this game. I'll buy it eventual, just not tonight cause I really do want to get some sleep without having all the lights on! January 15, 2012
Very Creepy This is based on the demo. Very creepy. If Vincent Price was alive today, I can see him playing the bad guy. While this kind of story has been used before, it's one that has remained popular, not only in games, but in books, etc. The Guide is very helpful. There are several different kinds of puzzles, besides a LOT of HOS. Voices were good quality. There was more emphasis placed on the creepy sounds than the story. Since I prefer more adventure, less filth, and fewer HOS, I will not be buying this game. February 28, 2012
Mystic Thriller!! Dark and scary! Well done scary psycho atmosphere! Intriguing story! A little bit chaotic gameplay.. Interesting idea with telephone - HOS, where are every parts of the phone made of hidden objects, just they are to small to play. Original for the first look and it feels like all parts of these are seen before same time. February 17, 2012
"White" Haven still "dark" enough to be fun!... Based on demo only.... White Haven Mysteries is NOT one of the break-the-game-mold games, but one that I will surely remember enough to DEFINITELY purchase as a SE and be happy with the purchase. In fact, I would as a CE if not having exceeded my gaming budget already this month. I found it a bit of psychological thriller/spooky and fun game, not over the top in any respect (meant in a good way); a game for a chill thrill while still being able to walk away without feeling nasty. Graphics are clear and good, the puzzles enjoyable, albeit not too challenging (mostly H0G but a bit adventure) and the story is mysterious enough to pull you in and want to keep going. Voice over was excellent. Thumbs up.... definitely check this one out ...despite the overall rating, I, personally, believe it is better than it's overall score. January 21, 2012
Good game A good HOG/ adventure game. It wasn't too difficult to follow and decide what you had to do next which was nice. Some of the storyline wasn't real clear to me but maybe that was just me. Seemed like there were still some questions that needed answered but the collectors edition bonus gameplay helped with that at the end. Overall its worth a play through. January 12, 2012
White Haven CE The game started out very smoothly and not hard at all; then the game moved me into the kitchen scene before I finished my present scene? The graphics were very good, I loved the Telephone Hidden Objects! Overall, I think even with the flaw, it is a very good game, and I would buy it! I played the demo only! January 18, 2012
Great game very interesting story line. recommend to buy, but not sure if bonus chapter was worth it. January 16, 2012
The plot is twisted and kind of confusing... ...but I can't deny it was fun to play it. I had to collect lots of paper scraps, notes and all sort of written stuff through the entire game that I didn't bother to read, because the story itself made no sense, i doubt that random pieces of information would have made any difference. But then again, I enjoyed that confusion. The fact that you don't know what's going on until the end -when everything is revealed- is kinda exciting. PROs: The whole thing is disturbing, there are unexpected animations that are really creepy and the voice acting gives you the chills. CONs: Too short for a game. And there are a couple of hidden object scenes (the ones with black backgroud) that makes you want to poke your eyeballs with a stick. January 22, 2012
