Not really a challenge, lots of HOS I don't know, if it were free, I might play it. The graphics were okay some of the time, and then not very crisp. Wayyy too many cut scenes and I only made it through 30 minutes of the demo. I swear, I gave it a shot. The sound track loop would play for about 3 minutes pause for about 2 and then loop back to the same ominous piano notes. I'm do not usually care about believable storylines, but this one annoyed me. You must click on one thing to do something else. You don't save up activities that you have to think about, you just click the next thing. I didn't need to think through anything. Receive knife, nothing else to do here, click forward once, a box to open. Now, let me think. Receive battery. A magnifier missing a lens and a flashlight with an open battery compartment. Now there's a hotspot under the cabinet, but it's too dark. If I had small kids, this would probably be a great game. I'm an adult who's into playing games, so this bored me stiff. And the notebook was not helpful. I'd rather replay what I already have while waiting for the next offering. February 29, 2012
Do not like this game I have been a member of this site for several years and have always loved every game that I have purchased. This game does not have a resume to it, it always starts all over from the beginning. I have purchased this game and have played it 3 times and it always just stops at the very end of the game, so that you have to start all over again. I would not recommend this game to anyone. A very enjoyable game! We played the demo and purchased the game. The story seemed to start off a bit slow, but then it came alive with surprises and we got caught up in the story. There is also a "padlocked" icon on the beginning game screen. Since this isn't a collector edition, there must be some sort of bonus when the game is finished. There are controls for music & sound. There is also a no sound selection. The music is not annoying and the effects sounds make the game more enjoyable. There are no voice overs and minimum text to read. There are choices for full screen, keep original screen size and custom cursor. Game play modes of casual or expert. The cut scenes are very good & interesting. There is a journal to keep track of your adventure travels. The graphics are excellent and quite vivid. Hidden object scenes are mixed with regular with some interaction and find a number of objects. Good graphics make these fun and not too difficult. The mini games encountered were fun & fairly easy. We didn't use the hint system (yet) and we haven't finished the game so cannot comment on hint usefulness or the length of game play. So far, the game has been a fun adventure with a somewhat creepy, mad scientist, bug infested, killer plant story line. This is a good purchase! February 25, 2012
Good 'different' game Something different from the normal ghostly stories. Enjoyed the gameplay, good storyline, although could maybe of had a few voice overs. HOG were quite easy and mini games fun. Graphics excellent. Quite a long game too. Good ending! February 25, 2012
good game This was a good game, lasted awhile, good HOS, good puzzles, but not too hard. Been playing HOS for a few years and this is one of my favs. December 11, 2012
A lot of back and forth The game was good and really kept my interest in going on. I found it challenging in places but that just adds to it in my opinion. The only draw back I found you had to keep going back and forth from the beginning to the last forward to get things done. November 16, 2012
SOoo much backtracking.. ..that it was really aggravating. Other than that it had great graphics and was fun but the truly intolerable (for me) backtracking ruined it. Also it had a rotten ending, It really didn't matter, however, because by then I was longing for it to be over..but it was interesting, long, good hint button, colorful and had cool looking scenes, and cutscenes.. I am going to say I recommend it for the fun, but ... November 13, 2012
Really great game! A fun game with alot of visuals and a good length of playing time. Many area's to explore with interesting music that was never disrupting to the game. The storyline was interesting and kept you guessing about the ending. Games were easy to moderately more difficult. The ending of the game got monotinious with all the back and forth to find objects. Really enjoyed playing the game except toward the end, but would play again. September 18, 2012
Great, long game! It's nice to have a game that is longer than the standard; it took me more than 4 hours to finish! As other reviewers said, it's more an adventure than a HO game. The storyline is good: a crazy professor making crazy experiments.... I played in expert mode, but the HOS sparkle. - The graphics are clear, the HOS are easy. - The puzzles are quite easy but interesting. - There is a good journal. But I missed a map, since there is a lot of going back and forth! - The hint system is good, it shows you where to go next, and recharges quickly. I really liked the atmosphere of the game, on this strange island. I would be happy to see a sequel! All in all, the only negative for me was the missing map, but apart from that I had a great time playing this game! September 11, 2012
Plenty of game time It was a good long game with lots of different scenes....although it would have benefited from a map...not because I got lost but because there was a lot of 'walking' about and passing through lots of places to collect the things needed. The puzzles were interesting and not hard... the HOGS were interactive and not too many of them. There were a couple of 'frozen' puzzles and I had to skip to move on in the game although I would have liked to complete them ....I had to wait for the skip button to load. Shame really. Not the best game but very satisfying and value for money August 18, 2012
