Worth The CE Cost This is what a CE should be all about. It kept my interest and I looked forward to getting back to playing. Just the right amount of HOGs (really enjoyed that). Never had to use the SG but was tempted a couple of times. This is a long game which makes the CE cost worth it. The only thing I found to complain about was a person who had a persistent cough through out the whole game. One of the best games I've played in a long time. December 29, 2011
Fantastic game I liked this game really, really much. Voice acting is excellent and so is all the rest. I enjoyed the demo and will buy this game for sure. December 25, 2011
Interesting twist on the haunted house HO game This was a pretty fun game. The artwork was great and the story was interesting. (You get to see the preserved corpses of the murderer's victims, so it isn't a game for the extremely squeamish). There weren't many HOS and they weren't all that challenging, but they weren't bad. Two things were frustrating about this game. For one thing the objects had to be used in VERY specific spots within the scene. Several times I had to walk back and re-do something I'd done before because I was off by a tiny bit and it didn't "take." Also, the layout was confusing and sprawling, and the rooms started to run together. But there wasn't a lot of pointless running back to the beginning, which was good. The guide is very clear and probably made the difference for me between a frustrating game and a fun one. I don't usually buy Collectors' Editions but in this case, it was worth it. The well-done, very substantial bonus chapter was just gravy. On the whole this is well worth the time. December 25, 2011
Excellent game - shame the map was not interactive This is a game with an involved and excellent storyline from MagicIndie Softworks; in addition the artwork & voiceovers really are superbly done. At first I found the psychopath Oscar?s commentary a little annoying but it grew on me, sort of hypnotic in a way. There are two modes of play, casual with sparkles, glints & a 35 second hint renewal & expert with no glints & 70 second hint. You do get a map but it is not interactive & the world of this game is huge so you will have to go back & forward a great deal. I confess I got lost on many occasions whilst making my way around. You also get a journal which details the story as you play & you can also replay the dialogue if you wish. The hidden object scenes are very good, some items are well hidden & there are also interactive objects. The mini puzzles really are splendid, lots of variety & some of them are fiendishly difficult, there is a skip button. This is a game that should keep you involved for hours, just one small observation the story is only very loosely linked to that of Dorian Gray so don?t expect something similar. The ending to the main game is very good but the bonus play does add an extra & interesting twist. February 5, 2012
"Brink of Consciousness" A madman, shadowy rooms, head of a sad mannequin, various cue balls lying about, strange numbered combinations, eye scanners, blazing torches, bizarre objects to uncover . . . . and the list goes on and on. In all of this madness you see, we must help Sam find Anna. Will you join me in this incredible adventure game? "Hurry, hurry I'm at the brink of despair!" December 29, 2011
Terrific Game Excellent story. Lots of puzzles ranging from easy to difficult and some unique. Hidden object scenes are few with very clear graphics. The bonus continued the story with a twist at the end. Also, the interviews with the developers were interesting and the bunch of cartoons were fun. The icing on the cake was that this is a long game. Bravo to the developers. December 29, 2011
Spooky and fun This game reminded me a bit of another pc game, Blackstone Chronicles, only the setting is somewhat different. You are in a mansion trying to rescue someone with a demented psycho watching your every move. The voice overs are very good and fit what you would think they should sound like. The music is dramatic and somewhat spooky, very nice. Not a lot of hiddne object scenes, just here and there. The map is helpful, but it does not get you anywhere on its own. HINT: be careful when playing the rainbow puzzle with the little squares you have to move to the opposite side, the reset button is on the bottom, very close to where you have to click and I accidently clicked it when I was almost finished and had to start the puzzle over again. The mansion is quite large and there is much to do, the map is helpful there since it has symbols to tell you if there are still things to do in each area. The extra play in the c.e. shows a new location you get to play a little in, enough for you to want the next game.............now! All in all, I really enjoyed this game, and look forward to the next one. .......A p.s., since this game is pretty spooky and has several scary traps and embalmed bodies scattered throughout, I dont recommend it for children. Value for money game This CE HO seems longer than other recent games and is far better value for money. The graphics are very good in making you feel in a dangerous and depressing environment. I liked the mix of HO (especially with secondary actions) and mini games and found that with a little work, they were achievable. I would have liked some more wallpapers but that is minor. I think this is a very good game, a spooky story - will be interesting to see if there is any followup and how. The gameplay was nicely flowing except for the SG - I did not like the way it often took 2-3 times at access the guide. This game gives quite a few hours of enjoyment. December 26, 2011
Not for the Nervous I thought this game was excellent. Another psycho-thriller game with the ultimate psychopath. Graphics and all the rooms to explore kept it interesting if not a little confusing but with all the maps and journals, you won't get lost for long. The biggest drawback was Sam, the protagonist's coughing and breathing at times. He sounds like he smoked one too many cigarettes...cough ...cough ...cough. The story line went beyond the bizarre and as a gamer i am most interested in the integrity of the story line. It had it all and I jumped more than once. The acting was excellent if not a little overdone. This in really along the line of the movie "Saw..." Enjoy it...strange...but irresistible. December 26, 2011
