Luxor Evolved This is a must have Luxor! Lots of excitement and fun I have played it all morning and it is addicting! Funtastic! March 1, 2012
What a great evolution! After my eyes adjusted, I am thoroughly enjoying this iteration of Luxor. I have always liked the marble-poppers, especially Luxor, but this adds in some fantastic twists! I love the boss levels. Thoroughly fun. March 4, 2012
Great Game If your looking for Fun and 'a fighting game''!!!! this is the game for U Luxor Evolved is fun and keep your thinking straight and forward to the game 'Fun' Fun Fun' March 4, 2012
I Love this Luxor!!! WOW! I've played all the Luxors and this one is by far my favorite. I like how they mixed it up and did something new. The music is awesome and makes the game more fun. The quicker pace and graphics make it feel like an old arcade game. Luxor always reminded me a little of Centipede so I think it fits really well with the retro style. Love!!! March 3, 2012
A Luxor w/Wings I've forever been on the 'look-out' for a Marble-Popper genre game that, if it didn't make sense, at least held my interest due to a solid storyline. Without breaking the rules by mentioning the other two I have already settled on, let me just say why Luxor was never one of my choices. There's always been something about the overall concept of the game, with it taking place in Egypt and you're 'scarab w/wings' doing its thing, which I found completely 'out of place' and impossible to conceive of as the least bit entertaining. So, I continued to hope that someday a Marble-Popper would come out that had some 'life' to it. Finally, that day has arrived in the form of Luxor Evolved. Some may complain that it is more 'Retro' than it is 'Evolved', but I beg to differ. You could place any other Luxor series game up against this one, and it is painfully obvious how 'out-of-date' the Egyptian theme is, when compared to the Space-Age one of Luxor Evolved. It's been a long time, but it has defnitely been worth the wait!! March 13, 2012
Should be Luxor Devolved I don't contest anyone else's review but this is definite a case of try it for yourself. I love Luxor. But I am not a regular pinball fan for several reasons. This game has all those reasons. I don't like tinny music that irritates me and sets me on edge. For some people this pumps them up. For me, it distracts. Of course, I can turn the music off. Second, I prefer more advanced graphics. As such, the farther you go into the Luxor series, the happier I am. This is a drop back. It's like we've forgotten everything we knew so we replaced it with neon lights. My sister loves retro; I love calm. This isn't calm to me; it is chaos. I honestly can't say how challenging it gets because by the first few levels my nerves were frayed by the sound, and I couldn't find a menu option or a quit option, and I couldn't remember if there was a hot key, and I WANTED OUT! I finally hit CTRL+TAB and closed the game from my task bar and listened to sweet silence. If you love Luxor and love the old, early-game, continual, unrelenting, background sound and simplistic, retro visual-themes, you may well love this game. If you are like me - not so much. Enjoyed this a lot! Fast paced, nice graphics, good power ups. I liked the nod to the arcade games of the 80s. I turned the music volume off though. It took a few levels to get used to the game, but once I got into it, I really enjoyed it. Just finished normal level. Can't wait to go back and try it on hard. I agree with many of the reviews, you'll either love it or hate it. If you like a faster paced game, give this a try. March 3, 2012
Pure adrenaline! Pros: multiple difficulty levels, variety of game objectives, lots of powerups Cons: interface is hard on the eyes, very challenging At first, I couldn't figure out why they named the latest Luxor installment "Evolved" as it appears more "devolved" at first glance with the DOS-era graphics. Don't let that fool you though--although the main game details are simplistic, there's a lot going on in the background, and this doesn't play like just another Luxor game, either. The game objectives include standard marble popping play as well as bonus rounds in which you must try to remove all the balls before the chains go off the screen, and boss battles. If you're good at collecting falling prizes, you'll be rewarded every so often with hidden levels. These hidden levels give a nod to 80s arcade games and brought a huge smile to this child of the eighties! One of the best improvements to me compared to other MPs was that losing a life doesn't force you to start the whole level over--the chains back up instead and you get to pick up from that point with the next life. (You will still get to see the typical MP "down the drain" action should you run completely out of lives.) There are four difficulty levels to choose from with Elite locked until the game has been completed in Hard. The playing action has been stepped up greatly from previous Luxor games in that the chains are now shorter, move faster, and come out really fast. I was able to keep up in Casual, but Normal gave me a serious run for my money and required a restart halfway through to finish. Hard had me restarting the game over and over before I could get to the end... Players will either love or hate the pulsating, swirling details in the backgrounds and large, flashy explosions, with an equally energetic techno soundtrack. I personally loved the soundtrack, but the flashing got so excessive at times that this isn't a game I would recommend playing for hours on end due to the eyestrain factor. I also noticed a slight lag in action when really large setups were exploding. Recommended only for those who want a challenge and don't mind a high-intensity game. You will find yourself living or dying based on the powerups you get. March 3, 2012
Science Fiction meets retro game aesthetic is great Very enjoyable. The audio and visual design make it stand out over similar Luxor and marble-popper titles. March 8, 2012
It will be love it or hate it.... I unfortunately hate it. The colors are too hard on the eyes and the music is some kind of techno disco stuff that should have stayed archived. There is so much going on between explosions and bonuses dropping that you cannot tell which one you are suppose to try and get, although they really did try to get the graphics done well. It is very fast paced which is why it is challenging, but I think that it could also be the neonish bold colors that also make it hard to play. I really don't think that they evolved with this, as a matter of fact I think they took five steps back! March 1, 2012
