Buy this IF...........
Buy this if you: a) love cats, a) Like a good story b) love HOS d) and definetly if you have a club reward or free game credit to spend
Unfortunately I bought the CE version of this game and actually thought it was way over-priced and below standard CE requirements and now wished I had waited for the SE version. The graphics were blurry and below par, no voice-over, no map, too many HOS which were junk-piled and not interactive and the usual run of the mill game play which consisted of alot of back-tracking which made the game long. Mini-games were too easy and the game lacked any form of challenge. On a positive note, you have three modes of playing and 24 cats to collect. I thought that the best feature of this game was the story line: a murder mystery which involved saving a young boy's life who is about to be persecuted for a crime he did not commit. Cats play an intregal role in the plot and there are many cats to collect. All in all I did enjoy the game and had I not bought the CE version, I would have defintely sprung for the SE version. For cat lovers out there, this was a puuuuurfect game to play. I do recommend it.

Intriguing and well done game.
I had played the Ce ... now played SE.
Enthusiastic plot: you have to help the boy, Menes, condemned to be burned at the stake for killing a couple of Ulthar, to prove his innocence.
His sister, Atala, seemed more sinister than worried !!!
Graphics very well done, crisp and neat details.
Peaceful and pleasant sound, except for the loud meowing of the cat when you click hint.
Developers were careful making a properly done atmosphere.
No voice over.
HOS is one detail of the scene, with good visibility, not messy, as usual. They are not really challenging. In expert mode, hint don't fills fast. (There are 3 difficult modes)
There are many places to explore and you have to go back and forth to them often. Although locations are not far away, sometimes it's boring
Mini games are the usual, at least in the free trial ! Also not very challenging.
In addition to objects along the way and the HOS, you have to collect 24 cats throughout the game.
Even if do not offers much new, at least in the free trial, I think worth to buy, because is an entertaining and pleasant game.

Not exactly enthralling
The story is somewhat original, based on hordes of cats turning into bloodthirsty beasts, except that the only cat you see is the one that meows every 10 seconds and is in charge of the hints.
Most of the game revolves around two components:
- many HO Scenes, which are the usual mess
- a lot of backtracking
A few puzzles here and there, pretty simple and totally standard.
And a few basic and boring tasks that make up the adventure... always the same stuff: find a key, use a crowbar, an axe, etc...
The visuals are not great; the locations are satisfactorily drawn and colored though often blurry, but the intro and the custscenes are terrible.
The music is soft, you have 3 Modes of difficulty, and plenty of hints on Casual which help you find the hidden objects and direct you through the different locales.
On the basis of the demo, it is hardly worth more than 3 stars due to some of the graphics, the absence of challenge, the too many HO Scenes and the overall lack of originality.
Definitely not a game for my collection.

Just For The Fun Of It
GAME COMPLETED MANY TIMES
Okay, I admit it, I am the very definition of a crazy cat lady, but this is still a delightful little game to play.
I liked the story. The locally revered cats suddenly go crazy and attack and kill an old mad couple. Menes, a young vagabond, is accused of using magic on them. We are enlisted by his sister to rescue him. This leads to discovering the history of the town, rescuing cats, and seeing ?justice is done?. It?s a very satisfying feel good ending, that rounds the story out well.
Strictly for HO lovers, this game has many HO scenes, and each is visited three times. Each chapter one of several jigsaw-style puzzles appear ? all easy. There is a fair amount of seek and find adventure, a few puzzles and mini-games, but this is a HO adventure. Viewed in that light it is a bit of light-hearted fun.
Returning to this game after a year?s worth of extravaganzas and spectacles, my initial reaction was ?Oh dear, the graphics are so grainy? ? not poorly drawn, just, well, washed out I guess, like an old shirt. True, but we?ve been spoiled, and sometimes it?s nice to take a break from the visual feasts and enjoy the equivalent of a home cooked meal.
I wouldn?t have wanted to pay CE price for this one, but as an SE, it is worth your pennies.

Thumbs Up for Ghost Towns: The Cats of Ulthar!
Good storyline; good common sense connection from one area to next (did not have to wander from area to area aimlessly trying to figure out what to do next, which is frustrating and definitely a reason for me to quit the game right away). Graphics not terrific; over-usage of same hidden object scenes. I usually use system cursor, but this one like cursor in "Dark Strokes" (great game by the way) is not too clunky and large. Overall, an enjoyable, challenging game.

Cats & More Cats! Entertaining Adventure
Storyline different than most HOGs. A thrilling adventure to save a young boy from injustice. Puzzels were interactive. HO's were better than most. No overclick penalties. I liked that. Wonderful graphics. A lot of the usual things we expect in this type of game: locked gates, hidden keys, broken knives jammed in a tree, boarded up doors and drawers with no knobs but the game flows well and is holds your attention throughout. I believe I will purchase this game as I am having a great time playing it on a Saturday afternoon.

So So
Based on Demo
I found the initial cutscene poorly done graphics, cartoonish.
Then I get into more of the game & the graphics are crisp & clear, then the puzzles are back to cartoonish. Confusing back & forth like that
The plot is intriguing & you need to collect 24 extra cats, that's good distraction.
There is alot of HOS-Hidden Object Scenes, which I like.
The hint cat can be tiring, but you can opt out of his noise. Hint recharge quickly & the cat can give directional help if needed.
Easy mini games, no map but "sneaker" alert! you'll be traveling back & forth ALOT.
Overall, interesting plot, bizarre graphics, mellow music, meowing cat every few second, easy HOS, Easy Mini Games-
It's an OK buy.

Good way to spend a boring day
I'm not a cat lover...allergies, nuf said. But I really like this game. The things I liked about it were, good story line, nothing to get excited about but I liked the twist at the end. The graphics were good, I could easly find the pieces. I had the music so low I really couldn't hear it. I liked the meow when you use a hint. But I thought it would be better if they had a purring sound when the hint filled up.
the storyline was good
the graphics were good, you could find things easly
the bad things were:
it's too short and at the end it's like they ran out of ideas, because you didn't have to think at all, just react.
A big glaring error was all the back and forth you have to do, And at the end you have to go to from one side of the game to the other multiple times. There is no shortcut, very frustrating.

Awesome game!
This was truly an awesome game for me. Hint button was great, when you hit it cat meows, sounds likt the real deal. Graphics were good, enough of an adventure to keep you busy and not stressed, very relaxing. I didn't get get all the cats but will when I play next mode. Hidden scens just enough that you really didn't have strain your eyes.

Above-Average
Pretty good game. The storyline was original and easy to follow. Graphics are okay, with some hand-drawn work that is really nice.
There are a lot of Hidden Object scenes, but they are not junkpiles and you can move through them fairly quickly.
There is quite a bit of back-and-forthing, but you end up going to the same main scenes over and over, which cuts down on getting lost.
Several inventory items are kind of hidden, and easy to miss the first pass through, so pay careful attention.
The Hint button will point you in the direction you need to go, but I'd advise going to the main road where the cat fountain is and then using a Hint to get directions. It works less well when you are inside the house.
I wish there had been more mini-games and puzzles. It was a little bit too short, in my opinion.
But it's definitely worth getting with a credit or coupon code.
