good game very challenged game, good music very very good game i love it March 17, 2012
LOVED IT !!! Just finished the demo and this is a definite buy for me. The graphics are good and well done. The HOS scenes are not too easy you have to look for the items. It has a great atmosphere about it not to dark and they were a couple of scares there. The puzzles I came across were not that hard they could not be thought out. The only negative point I have is when you move between scenes it goes dark for a few seconds. Apart from that it is definitely a game I would recommend to buy. I would put this in my top ten games for sure. So give it a try I will. March 16, 2012
Hooded man strikes again.... Played 35 minutes of the game, casua - 2 gameplay modes, Casual, Challenge (fewer sparkles in this one, but sparkles) - Dark Blue Games - Integrated SG (didn't check it# - No map - No journal #or did I miss it ?) - Voiceovers - Objects your find are displayed at the top of your screen - H0, you interact and have an extra item to find at the end. Very dark and foggy, objects can be very small, not too easy to find for some. - Puzzles quite easy - Hint refills quickly, useful outside H0 - Skip button - Good graphics Kidnapped pianist sister, hooded man, action takes place in France just after World War II. I wasn't grabbed at all by the game, found it easy to play but thought it lacked of something, what ?? Probably this little sparkle of "spirit" which makes you buy a game straight away after the demo. Good game but a bit dull for me. Don't think I'll buy the CE. March 15, 2012
Can't wait for the sequel!!! Excellent! Great work everyone! Thanks so much for bringing this production to us. Every aspect of this game was of the utmost quality. March 16, 2012
At last.... another keeper! Based on DEMO: YAY> SO happy to find a game I'm excited to purchase... it's been way too long. The storyline is interesting and just enough mix of HO and ADVENTURE to spark my interest. Way to go, BFG March 16, 2012
I'm Sorry Big Fish But You've Done Way Better Than This One This review is based on the demo which I played for about an hour playing in challenge mode *2 play modes: Casual/Challenge (challenge does have sparkles just for the HO scenes.) *No map or journal *Objects to find are listed up at the top of the screen along with the inventory items. *HO scenes are interactive and at the end of each one there is extra item you have to find. The objects to find are also true to the time period. *Integrated Strategy Guide which shows the first 3 chapters and I was just starting chapter 3 when demo was up. The guide also stays open where you left it. *Bonus content is locked but indicates extra play along with the usual other extras like wallpaper, soundtrack, concept art, etc. *Voice Overs along with text on screen to read. *Skip/Hint take about a couple of minutes. Hint can also be used outside of the HO scenes. *Puzzles My overall impression of the game: Well I always try my best to play the whole game before giving a review but this one I had all I could do to make it through the sample version demo of the game cause I sure kept hoping it would get better but unfortunately a big NOT. The story is yet another kidnapping and this time a sister pianist by a "hooded" man. The setting is France 1946. The story I'm sorry to say but just didn't have my attention and draw me into the game. The voice overs what little there were what I played of this game by Uncle Albert and the hooded man were OK but the two sisters I found annoying. I found most of the dialogue to be text but thank goodness not very long. The graphics I'm sorry but in my opinion leave much to be desired as I've seen way better in other games as i found these depressing, no color, drab and dull. The HOS dark and foggy and some of the items very small. To my surprise though I located most of them. The hint is a bright orange flashing color - annoying. There is some traveling back/forth several locations and inventory items pretty much used right away as I never got "lost" in the game but did use the hint once just to see if it was helpful or not and it will either tell you nothing to do or direct you with " bright orange" color flashing where to go. I also thought there were a few unnecessary scenes to try to make the game more scary/spooky I guess but I found them annoying. I believe I only came across three puzzles what I played of this and very easy. Definitely give this a try and decide for yourself however as there seems to be mixed reviews on this game but sorry just not for me. I'm sorry developers and Big Fish you've done way better than this one and overall 2 stars is the best I can give for this one cause it's definitely not the worst game I've ever downloaded but far from the best. I wouldn't purchase this as a SE, Catch Of The Week or Daily Deal. March 16, 2012
It was just okay I personally do not buy the CE versions as I find they are over priced for what "extra" you really get and are not worth the money. After reading a few reviews that said it only took them 2 hrs to play then it is definitely not worth CE money. Anyway I played the demo and what I played was just okay. What I can't understand is the very long loading time between scenes. (Why?) At first I thought it was a glitch and the game had hung up but nope just loading time. I found that during HO scenes the sound would fade in and out. I did like the fact that the HO scenes produced items needed to do other things in the game. The HO scenes were not to difficult, a little dark so had to really look for a few items but that is the purpose of HO's isn't it. And a few unexpected scenes that had my heart jumping. Haha. The storyline was very interesting and that in itself was the only reason I finished the demo. I will definitely not purchase the CE version of this one. Maybe as a daily sale would I buy it. With this one I can't really say whether to recommend it or not. Each to their own I guess. March 15, 2012
Fair to middlin' Just got done with the demo. I didn't wholeheartedly dislike the game. Would I buy it? In either version? No, just not for me - it didn't really grab me. I thought it might be too dark a game (meaning atmosphere not screen brightness), and it wasn't at all. Speaking of screen brightness - it was fine for me. And the graphics were very good, I thought. It's a murky story, a dark and stormy night, and the graphics portrayed that very well. They did pull you into the story enough to make where you were believeable. Also, there was a lag of 6 seconds on my computer (I timed it) between scenes/HOS. Sometimes not if you just left the scene and turned around and went right back, but that was spotty, not consistent. The HO scenes were not hard to negotiate. I found items easily, and didn't have any issues with the "special items" that needed an extra action to complete. There were multitudinous bugs running around. Good golly....WHY?? Didn't they have bug spray in the '40s?! They were very distracting in the HO scenes. Just ugh! (though I do agree with another poster about cute cats, yes, saw one of those). Mini-games were, indeed as others have reported, nothing new and fairly easy. Jump scares were and their music were somewhat cheesy. I'm not a fan of jump scares, but these weren't overly done and they annoyed me more than anything. Voiceovers were good. The uncle and the hooded man (men?) were well done. Music (what there was of it) was repetitive - and blessedly short lived. The sound effects were very well done, however. Played the whole 60 minutes, and made it through a good part of the game (based on other reviews). It does seem to be a shorter game. Overall, a just ok game to me. Do definitely try the demo and see for yourself, though. Reviews are so subjective. :o) March 17, 2012
Hidden Object Silent Nights :The Pianist = Gr8 Game Thought it was just another hog but after 20 minutes I bought it & had to keep going to the finish.Won't spoil it but really recommend this game!! March 17, 2012
Another evil sect with advanced technology makes a good game. I played this game for the full trial (it actually allowed me sixty minutes). I almost didn't bother, because of a couple of not-so-good reviews, but I found their complaints to be non- issues. The game IS full screen, there ARE voice-overs, the black screens between scenes last only TWO seconds, and the scenes are bright. I like HOGs, but I also have objections to some things, like snails all over the place! Yuck! In any case, these games are not expected to be realistic - where have you ever seen such collections of junk in real life? This is escapism. I will buy this game, but in the SE version. This is one of the better hidden object games; ignore the negative reviews and try it. March 15, 2012
