The Human Factor
The invention of a robot golem did go horribly wrong. Why did all those people who worked on the project just vanish? As a scientist you are attacked and try to get to the bottom of things.
The Good:
+ unusual steampunk setting
+ traditional ring searches for that developer
+ ...with some items that have to be manipulated first
+ quite long game time
The Neutral:
o no traditional HO scenes (may be a letdown for some people)
o too many (strange scientist) names
o on one occasion the hint system sent me in circles without showing me anything
o videos could be fullscreen
o no animated faces on voiceovers
The Bad:
- the old problem with the ring searches, the objects you have to find have nothing to do with the item you are supposed to find
- you can't shake the feeling that there are still things to do when a chapter changes (for example, I never found out what was the meaning of the drawing in the prison cell)
The Bonus Content:
The story picks up right after the (satisfying) end of the regular edition. So, for the full experience you will have to buy the CE. Loose ends are tied up in the regular game though, they just open two strands again. Gameplay took about another hour for me.
The Strategy Guide is more or less only useful for minigame solutions, in any other situation the hint system works fine.
As usual, the wallpapers and concept art is one-time-view only and nothing to write home about.
The Bottom Line: If you are into steampunk and IHOGs this game is an essential buy. Otherwise it might not be your cup of tea.

Like potato chips, addictive!
This game has everything--great graphics, crisp movement, interesting puzzles, good length to the game. I love the "exploding circle" items to find, especially when some of them might be in other locations. Got a chance to beta this game and it sure didn't disappoint.

a fine circle HOG
The best element of this game is that the devs force us to think about what to do next. The worst element is turning the cursor into a hand when an item to be picked up is found, sometimes by accident. I finished the demo with 10 minutes to spare. I'm glad I had good walking shoes on since there is a lot of to and fro. The hint system recharges fairly fast. While I do not use hints often in games I own, I don't mind using them in a demo as the progress I make in the game helps me decide if I want to buy it. ( but never a CE version )
The story line develops slowly and in this game it is a plus not to be given too much info from the getgo. I also like the fact that this C HOG is much more suited for adults than the Treasure Seekers games which are of the same ilk. I certainly recommend this game as a SE. The only general downside to the circle games is the need to find the same things everytime in replay. I much prefer the HOGs that vary the found items during replay. At least do the demo to form your own opinion.

Challenging, Exciting, Suspense
Finally a game I can really enjoy! This is a challenging game to say the least. Gives my memory a work out that is certainly needed. I haven't finished the demo yet, but already on the edge of my chair trying to figure out my next move. Yahoo, THANK YOU for this super fun game!

good not great
Somewhat enjoyed this game The graphics, cut scenes and voice-overs are great. The background music became annoying and I muted it.
The HOS consist of having to find 3 to 5 things to unlock an item you need. Unfortunately some of the things you have to find are not in the scene with the HOS, and I'm not liking these types The mini games were enjoyable.

Perfect Game
Played the advanced/expert mode. I simply have nothing bad too say about this game. It's different in the way you find hidden odjects. It's challenging, but not frustrating. You have to think, retrace your steps and not much hand holding...love this part the best. Makes the game longer, but not boring or dragged out.
I purchased the SE when it first became available and fell in love with it, wishing I had purchased the CE. Had the opportunity to get a free CE game and chose this one cuz I wanted more!! Playing the game a second time, it's like it's the first and enjoy it just as much as the first time. Even more so knowing that I get to play the bonus chapter.
I hope a continuation game is in the works!!
Bravo!!

Unique and Fun HO Game!
I loved this HO game. To gain inventory items, find at least five other items. Very unique and I loved it! I didn't think I would like a game about robots, but it really didn't matter about the storyline. The game itself was FUN!

MUST HAVE GOOD MEMORY
I wanted to like this game more, but i got very frustrated trying to remember---not just what i needed to pick up, but mostly where to go. I kept getting lost in the train station. When I finally figured out the hint system, it was easier. I guess I should have played the tutorial, which I usually never do (after playing so many games). It is a beautiful game to watch, so I will recommend it.

By the end, I was disappointed
I purchased this game because the demo hooked me. And for 70% of the game, I was hooked. However, as we got closer to learning about what happened to the friend in the story line, things started to fall apart. The bonus chapter was extremely disappointing.
I found the actual game play fine. I knew what I was getting into - hidden objects, having to find some things in order to get the main thing you need to complete a puzzle, etc. For the most part, the story line intrigued me - though there were times I was confused as to why a character behaved a certain way.
When the game ends that leads into the bonus chapter, I could no longer "live the game" - suspend reality if you will. You are left to believe you will have this great climax and... it wasn't.
Story matters to me. So when the story fell flat at the end, my appreciation for the game fell a lot.
I will recommend this in that I don't think I could say it was a waste of a purchase, but I do say, Buyer beware. Know yourself and know if story is important.

Good but not great
This was an interesting game to play and sometimes nice to have a change in how the HO's are found and placed, like into groups of circles in this case. It was similar to the "portal series" games in that respect. I wouldn't want to play all HOG's that way though. The graphics were pretty good but not as outstanding as some I've seen. The background music was pleasant and sound effects pretty good too. I wouldn't necessarily buy the CE of this game but might consider the SE.
