A bit disappointng. After reading so many glowing reviews about this game, I figured it might be worth a try. I had played it for about an hour when I realized that I was somewhat bored with it. It wasn't a bad game, but it didn't hold my interest. There is a lot of running back and forth between scenes. A lot of it. I probably spent more time doing that than anything else in the game. When I'd stop playing for a day or so and try to pick back up again, I would completely forget what I was supposed to be doing. I'd just have a bunch of miscellaneous items in my inventory, with not a clue as to how they should be used. I used more hints on just figuring out where to go from my current position than anything else. To add to it, I had heard amazing things about the wonderful plot and fulfilling ending. But, from early on, I was able to predict the ending in its fullness. It was a very standard plot line, and I wasn't really impressed with the ending either. It seemed rather abrupt with very little (if any) resolution. From beginning to end, this game was very average. I will accept that it takes a fair bit of challenge to hold my interest, but this game was simple. If you're looking for something easy to play, this is a great game for you. I respect that not everyone has the same desire for impossibly difficult games as I have, but this is just my honest opinion. If a fairly typical game is the sort of thing that you like, then please, don't let my review stop you from playing it. I understand completely, but I don't share those sentiments. This game just wasn't really my cup of tea; that doesn't mean it won't be yours. July 15, 2012
Definitely Get this One!! All around a really good game. I enjoyed the whole thing - and yes, played through the end. I bought the CE version and am glad I did - it's definitely worth the price for the regular version as well! Really good graphics, storyline, HO areas and puzzles...just the right mix of everything as far as I am concerned. Enjoy! April 7, 2012
oooh, that was a stinker! I can't believe I just played the same game these other reviewers did. I didn't care for it, and couldn't wait for it to be over. The storyline was transparent. I was pretty disappointed when the ending came and it was what I had guessed after putting the second person in the boat. there was an awful lot of back and forth just for the sake of adding time. when you have to go back to a location to pick up one item, go back to the second location to use that item and pick up another, then go back to the first location to use that item, that's just laziness on the part of the developer. I really thought I was going to like it based on the demo. I would say the demo was the best part of the game. :( April 28, 2012
Loved it! I absolutely loved this game. The graphics were outstanding, the story was very good and the puzzles/HOS were challenging but not too hard. The attention to detail on the graphics just blew my mind and the length of the game was just right. The only thing I would have liked to have seen was another difficulty selection since even on the expert setting you are given a ton of clues about what to do. I like it better when you have to figure things out for yourself. Overall, I highly recommend this game. It's very entertaining and worth the price. April 8, 2012
A New Genre? A Hidden Object Puzzle Adventure Game - what a combo with excellent graphics and game play - when I get my credit tomorrow I am buying the full version! April 6, 2012
Search Out the Faceless Ones! When I first started playing this game I thought it was going to be another mindless romp in the pretty park. I was thrilled to find a dark, exciting adventure! The story is engaging and as the game progresses, clues are revealed in a refreshing way. The locations and characters are beautifully drawn. Although the hidden object scenes are standard fare, you are rewarded with objects that are crucial to other areas of the game. Some tools must be earned by searching the various environments or by solving clever puzzles. Make sure you take the time to pick up and read the various documents you see scattered about. The music and sound effects are fantastic and the animated sequences, including the spectacular finish, are brilliant. I had to check to make sure I had purchased the Standard Edition of this game. It was as complete and satisfying as any CE I have ever played. I hope you think so too! April 21, 2012
Really didn't like it The subject has been battered to smitherenes already. The guy who has to rescue Clair does look handsome, but very early in the game I thought I'd see his future and I already kind of know the ending. The game is very 'in your face' and that was after I selected the hardest level. It was still in my face and telling me what to do and what not to do. Hey!! I've played HOG's and IHOG's since Hidden Adventures:Titanic got launched, so I don't really need the extra prompting after having turned it off! The game to me has zero fun factor, the movements of the characters is in between crude and stupid "Oh cut me away from the fishing nets! But Clair was totally in his face then.sitting one the shore she looked like a drowned rat, but her having to tell him she was suddenly in appropriate attire. I couldn't even get shot of the extra stupid advice on 'how to cut the fishing net s in this scenes. Whatever you want to investigate and do on your own margin somebody you'll run into a warning sign! And Clarie never really got off her butt, but sat there like a serene looking entity, only to jump into Ethan's face once ever so often. I can't recommend a game like this! April 28, 2012
Wow.....Top 5 Star (PLUS) Game IMHO Spent a wonderful weekend playing this game. A beautifully done storyline with gorgeously, rich visuals and cut scenes, plus the music is top quality and tremendously enjoyable. The level of challenge was just right for me, with very little help needed - and I spent two days on the game. I will certainly be replaying it. A real sure fire winner in my book, with no complaints from me. Loved it!! Great value too! (and thank you kindly BFG) April 9, 2012
Great game! I thought this game was a lot of fun with an interesting storyline. Great visuals and music. Liked: - Loved the cut scenes, the graphics and the voice acting - Puzzles were really interesting but nothing that frustrated me - I really liked the storyline and it kept me guessing for a bit Disliked: - The widescreen worked sort of for my laptop. It filled the screen but stretched things slightly so everything was a little distorted. I took it off as I'd rather have the black borders than strangely stretched graphics - The H0 scenes had interactive elements of combing two items together, but that was only for the first few scenes.. for some reason it didn't carry through to the rest of the game which was disappointing, but not a deal breaker. - Some of the H0 scenes had tiny little objects to find which made things challenging - again not a deal breaker, but those who hate itty bitty thimbles might not like this aspect. Overall, I loved the game and would love a sequel! I definitely recommend it unless you don't like dark elements to your story line. Enjoy! August 5, 2012
Good Game, with a Few Weaknesses This is a good HO/Adventure game. If you like this type of game, you will probably like this one. This review is based on a complete play-through. There are two game modes and I played the harder one. No sparkles, except to indicate HOS, and a longer hint recharge, which wasn?t a problem for me. You play Ethan, about to be married and called home by your father for an unknown reason. In route, on the train, you are attacked by a ?faceless one? who steals your fianc. In town, you discover that the city is under curfew because the faceless ones have been kidnapping people. You need to explore the city, solve the mystery to save your future wife and later your father. While someone is in league with the devil, I would not say this game has occult overtones. It does have rats. Dialogue is mainly delivered in text form and you can click through it. What is good? The graphics, the story and sounds. Lots of places to explore and things to do. Some, but not too much, walking around. The mini-games are good?not too hard, some very simple. The actions required are fairly good and mostly expected in this type of game. Some actions were not as obvious as you might expect. Let?s just say, you are going to need that squirrel for something. Cut scenes are very good. IMHO, it is a long game with a good ending. One thing I really liked with was the little boat you find during the game. It has places for several (eight, I think) figurines. As you pla, you will find various figurines. The game then automatically brings up the boat. Put the figurines on the boat, one by one, and get more of the back story?where the face-less ones came from and why. That story is revealed in a wonderful ?artistic? manner. Very nice! What I didn?t like so much? This game has too many HOS for me. One after another. Yikes. The earlier ones require some minor interaction, but that stopped mid-game. I guess the designers abandoned the idea. The HOS are cluttered junk piles and usually dark. All the items were correctly labeled, but some were very hard to find and I just gave up and used a hint. The other thing that drove me crazy was the ?map? and I use that term very loosely. There IS a map. It shows where you are, but not where actions are required and it is not interactive (you can?t jump from one location to another.) It is totally useless. I am getting spoiled and expect a good map with my HO/Adventure games, now. This wasn?t my favorite HO/Adventure game, but it is pretty good and I recommend it. July 5, 2012
