Hauntingly beautiful....
I think I may have a new favorite game. If ever there was a time when I should have bought a CE this is it. The story was so engaging that I couldn't wait to see what I would find out next. The artwork was hauntingly realistic. I truly felt for the characters. The music really fit the game---soft, haunting. It wasn't annoying or obtrusive in any way. There were only a few times when the game employed the talents of actors for voice-overs, but the actors did a good job. I was pleasantly surprised.
There were not as many puzzles as I would have liked and they were fairly easy, but I didn't mind that because the story is what was keeping me hooked. My biggest complaint were the HOS. Those were some true junkpiles.
There were 2 levels to play; I chose the harder mode. There is a map, but I never used it. It didn't tell you if you had anything to do somewhere so there really was no need for it. Outside of the HOS the hint button would point in the direction you needed to go unless there was something to do in the room you were in.
All in all, I really enjoyed this game. It gave me about 5 or 6 hours of relaxing gameplay on a day that would otherewise have been very boring.

Thoroughly satisfying
Having been overwhealmed by IHOGS lately, I decided to give this game a trial anyway as it caught my eye and looked a little different to the gereric stream of IHOGS.
I got well and truly hooked in the demo- enough that I didn't realise my time was up and I just had to purchase and play the entire game instantly after! :P
The music, atmosphere, graphics are delicious and really help to immerse you into a compelling storyline. It is very remeniscant of 'Mystery Trackers: Black Isle' and 'Grim Facade: Mystery of Venice' with the concept of the "Masked phantom" antagonist.
The atmosphere is quite eerie and a little tense which makes you jump in some parts when characters pop on the screen to speak to you!
Puzzles are fairly frequent and are quite diverse. For the most part they are managably solvable without having to hint or skip.
Hidden object scenes are more frequent, and while I personally could have done with less- they were still enjoyable. I particularly enjoyed the more interactive hidden objects e.g painting something to get an object, but unfortunately this was only available in the demo.
The game as a whole was very satisfying to complete and very addictive to play. I could not stop this game at all and played it completely in one sitting! It took perhaps 6 hours for me to complete on casual mode.
I wasn't too keen on the mix of voice acting and written dialogue as it was inconsistent.
The cut scenes were beautifully executed.
An excellent game on the high end of the IHOG genre!

Pretty Much 5 Stars On Everything
This game had a good story, moderately challenging action, and very worthwhile length. I enjoyed it very much and recommend it to anyone who likes HOGs with quite a bit of adventure added.

very well done
The storyline is unique and interesting, great ending. I played over an extended amount of time yet the game picked up easily where I left off, mostly logical game play and it progressed naturally so there was no need to run back to the beginning for anything. Wonderful graphics and bright colorful scenes, even with the constant rain and gloomy skies. HO scenes were pleasant, no junk piles and there weren't an overabundance of them. You can click almost anywhere in the regular scenes to get little tidbits of information. The cut scenes were like something out of a movie, also well done. My one complaint was that codes weren't kept in the journal so sometimes I had to run back and forth or write them down when it was time to use them. Overall though, great game!

Excellent Game
I really like this game concept, but my favorite part of this game is the villain. He's very well done - one of the best I've encountered. I'd gush more, but I don't want to spoil it. The hero...well, he needs a little work. He doesn't strike me as very bright.
The voice acting is excellent, which is unusual, but a pleasant surprise. The graphic bounce from gorgeous realism, to watercolors, to kind of a graphic novel feel. Again, unusual, but I'm not sure how keen I am on it. It's interesting from an artistic standpoint, but I found the changes a bit jarring.
My only complaint goes as follows: when the heck does this game take place?! It has aspects of steampunk, but it doesn't outright look steampunk. The HO scene contain a ton of modern objects. Again, this is very jarring and really bothered me.
But...I love the game concept, the story line, and the ending was just as excellent as the rest of the game. Thumbs up!

TOTALLY ENJOYABLE!
I agree with all the other 5 star reviews! If I could give this a ten I would - great story line - characters are realistic and storyline well written. Graphics are beautiful and voiceovers well done. Not too many HOS - did not use the map. Not too much back and forth. Easy to follow - you won't go wrong if you get this one! Hope there is sequel - BFG you outdid yourself on this one - keep them coming like this one!

This game punched all my buttons!
I thoroughly enjoyed this fantastic game. The scenes were rendered beautifully. The puzzles were challenging without being frustrating. Very nice storyline. The music wasn't annoying and the ending was extremely satisfying! The ending is where a lot of games let you down, but not this one. The evil mastermind gets his well deserved punishment at the end of this one. BFG, more like this, please!!

Ticks all the Boxes!
Nice graphics, nice but not too intrusive music and sound. Good storyline, good level of challenge considering I've played A LOT of these kind of games. HO scenes are tricky but not impossible. Good length of game play too! Definitely get this. You won't be disappointed.

Great game - just one teensy flaw
OK - this was one of the best HOS games I've played in a while. I didn't figure out the "twist" until nearly the end of the game. THE HOS were often difficult to find that one last item and sometimes you earn two "items" when you complete. I liked that. The flow is pretty even throughtout the game until you reach the last "10 minutes" or major scene - and then finding the last 7 items was too "minimized" or felt rushed. But it was certainly a fun ride! I usually mute all of the sound because they are frequently too repetitive - but this one was ok. Music got muted tho!
