HOG Lover--5 Star Hidden Object Game Always looking for the really good game that, for whatever reason, either I missed or fell through the BFG "high-rating review" cracks. "Escape the Emerald Star", is a QUALITY HOG with a decent story, clear, fun and creative hidden objects--quite simply a genuine, straightforward hidden object game--not so much an interactive movie, The quality is also in the details-- which kept my interest and makes this game super fun--good graphics, challenging, yet simplified objects, timed or untimed mode, choice of difficulty levels, cut-scenes, bonus content, ability to replay hidden object scenes, achievements and replay to improve scores. Hidden object goals include higher scoring for fast finds as well as locating 2 anchors in each of the 25 scenes (50 in all) that unlocks the Special Bonus Mystery Game and attaining specific Achievements! In all, a very fun--and challenging game for me to play without worrying that I've lost my place and must back track to refresh my memory. Enjoy! -Mama Mia- August 6, 2012
Great for those who enjoy simple HOG's If you want to relax and enjoy a few minutes on board a ship, have at it....you will like this. If you enjoy a timed, puzzle filled, plot driven game, I'd pass on it. As others have said this is just a simple HOG, which I like. It's a nice relaxing way to spend a 10-15 minutes here and there. I played in the relaxed mode which I'd suggest to anyone. I've read some complaints about not being able to find anchors. If you run into this, don't worry. The scenes replay and the anchors you missed are still there for a second or even third go round. A tip: If you are in the relaxed mode, you can switch to different scenes when you get tired of looking in one. August 29, 2012
One game that you'll like if you like a challenge and lots of hidden object levels! If you're into hidden object games then you'll be hooked on this game, especially with the vast amount of "HOG" levels and the numerous "anchors" you have to find throughout each level. I thoroughly enjoyed this game, as it actually made you think "outside the square" at times for the locatin of some of the hidden objects or the hidden "anchors". Furthermore, this game for me did definitely offer a challenge and I was able to complete it to the end and in the process I'm currently holding the top score for this game. August 6, 2012
Challenging HOG (perhaps too much so?) I've only played half the demo, but won't be finishing (or purchasing). Good: - very challenging items (i.e. "not war" = peace sign) - very well-hidden items - nicely rendered scenes - inoffensive music Bad: - using a hint on one scene means giving up the "no hint bonus" for the entire level (2,3,4+ scenes) Worst: - collecting every anchor (2 per scene) is required to open the bonus levels / freeplay .... but if the player collects all items in a scene but forgets/misses an anchor, the scene closes, and there doesn't appear to be a way to get back in again! I'm saying "yes I recommend this game" as I feel that it would be very good for very detail-oriented, find-everything, won't-forget-the-anchors sort of organized players. However, for me it's just to easy to make one error that will seemingly lock me out of the bonus areas ... so it's not for me. August 6, 2012
I finally found it! I didn't think I would find a game where I really, really, hoped for my demo to be over soon but I did. I hated this game, and maybe its because of the level of difficulty but I just did not like this game. I found myself clicking randomly on the board not caring if I lost points in the process. I just did not like it. I did like some things though like the achievements, finding the anchors in the scene, etc. However, those were the only things I liked about it. There was no story line, the graphics were nothing special and I can't even really remember hearing background music. Overall, I did not like this game. August 12, 2012
Great for a seven year old B-o-r-i-n-g. No movement around the ship. Just find objects in one scene after another. Like something out of the 80's. I've had more fun playing the original Kings Quest. Not the least bit interesting. August 11, 2012
Not If You Paid Me BASED ON FULL GAME Let?s see... Monochromatic distorted images, check. Static scenes with a little interactivity, check. Boring game formula of 25 levels with each HO scene visited 3 times and 1 very easy puzzle at the end of each level, check. Ah, yes, we have another game in the Escape series! If your thing is PURE HO with at most a few EASY PUZZLES and only a hollow shell of a STORY (and I?m not denying the place of such games, not everyone wants to be dragged through a mental ringer), then this game might appeal to you. But you could do better. I?m no fan of the Big City Adventures or Amazing Adventures series, but they are both more appealing than this one, which offers you little in the way of eye candy, no personality, nothing but drudgery really. Still interested, okay, well the good news is, this game has a timer, points for fast finding, and collectibles that unlock a free play mode. The PUZZLES, while easy, are varied (match 3, jigsaw, rotate tiles, word search), are still fun, and for me, the best part of the game. None of which is enough to sell me on a game that falls so far short on imagination and emotion. May 4, 2013
You have to just love HOS If you just want to play HOS this is for you. No story just HO. I started out with this kind of game but now like the adventure of the new games. December 16, 2012
Just Another Very Repetitious Game From This Developer I have played straight hidden object games before, but none was as tedious or mind-numbing as this one. There is no storyline, no voiceover, and no adventure whatsoever. You simply play the same HO scenes and find the same objects over and over. There are some puzzles to solve, but they are simplistic and repetitive. So, if you are not interested in a challenge and just want to zone out, then this is the game for you. Graphics are actually not bad, but the only real highlight of this game is when it's over and you can finally Escape from the Emerald Star. October 24, 2012
Fun Enjoy all the POPCAP games. . . especially the Mystery PI series. Just started the "Escapte" series and I am pleased to see the same format. Perfect change of pace that doesn't require refering to a stragey guide or a blog walk thru. The graphics are good and although my eyes aren't so good, I have no trouble making out the HOs which gives me many hours of enjoyment. August 18, 2012
