Not CE
Just played demo. Itsn't CE, really. Maybe just "one more HOG game".It's three stars for SE, but if you think its CE, only two stars, sorry(((
Graphics looks cool on the screenshots....it's only.
Stupid story about cats. And nothing common with Howard Lovecraft and his story The Cats of Ulthar.
Developrs have no imagination to invent another game name... And no imagination for cool gameplay I suppose...

Played the entire demo to see if maybe it got better as it progressed....sorry, BFG, this one is just boring..even for a cat lover like me. :(

I've played better
I always hesitate to mark a game down, however, this one simply did not manage to get my attention. I liked the story line, but the HOS left me frustrated because they were not presented distinctly. Hazy outlines and indistinct colors were simply irritating. In all honestly, I played only the trial, but that was enough to turn me off completely. Interestingly enough, I'm a cat lover but that wasn't enough to save the game me. For others though, this game could be an interesting experience.

The Cats of Ulthar
This is a pretty game, with good graphics and smooth play. There is the usual rescue plot and the usual puzzles interspersed with the usual HO scenes. It's a pleasant way to pass the time but doesn't have any new or particularly exciting features.

This cat lover is not impressed
I'm sure I'll get all kinds of nasty remarks as I have had in the past but I stand firm.I dislike ANY game that protraits ANY animal in a bad light.Yes in the end the kitties save the day but those drawing of cats attacking people and needing ''kitten hair'' for a recipe is wrong. The graphics weren't any good, too much back and forth.Probably a great game for some and I respect that ...it just wasn't for ME !

Good game, some quibbles on storyline, overall HO games
Note: I played the Ipad version, so I don't know if it differs from the PC version.
I played the entire CE version and was bugged by a few details. In terms of game play I thought it was of satisfactory length and variety of activities. The graphics (of the puzzles and HOS) were clear and I had no problem doing them without zooming in. I did think the flow of the game was a bit random: there was no clear reasoning where you should go next to find some of the HOS and without the hints I would just go to each location to see if a new HOS had opened up. Also, there were a few HOS items unclearly labelled which was probably a translation issue. Finally, the ending of the standard game seemed very abrupt and not particularly logical. The CE had an extension to the ending, which was slightly more satisfactory.
Like many many other HO games there's very set rules on what you can do. I find it frustrating that you have to get a specific pot, for example, while the background artwork clearly shows many other vessels. Sure it's a puzzle game, but it's annoying to have to click on everything to see which ones actually can be picked up. Also, are we supposed to think the villain has distributed all these things? This is just a general HO game objection.
Finally, I was hopeful that the story line would be particularly interesting to me since I love cats. It wasn't. I thought the final status of some of the characters were particularly unsatisfactory. I guess I wanted a more bloodthirsty story...? ha ha.
It was a decent game but not a terrific one.
