Pleasant Surprise Awaits I've always reviewed potential games, but never added my 2 cents 'till now. Although the mini-games were't too difficult, and for most gamers this would be a smooth and not-too-challenging ride, I enjoyed the scenery, the background music, the cute little lobster hint master and everything else about this game. I was pleasantly surprised at the length - just when you think the game is over (during the bonus), it continues with more challenges and HO scenes. Kudos to the developers. I look forward to more challenging games from them. April 28, 2012
A Bit Confusing, But Fun Another graphically beautiful game, but there was a lot of back and forth from location to location with no real clues so I had to refer to the Strategy Guide way too often. While the plot is pretty clear, I like a game that allows me to figure out the next move on my own now and then. Hope there's a sequel that's a bit easier to follow. April 26, 2012
Not bad. I only have a few complaints on this game. Some of the graphics were hard to see. Allot of the hidden object items were in very dark places. The puzzles and different items you have to put together are a bit much. It seemed to me that I was spending more of my time putting objects together and trying to find things instead of a good story line. The soundtrack was good. Overall graphics as far as detail was well done. I would have liked a deeper story line and more of a balanced puzzles/action game. If you really like puzzles and hidden objects, this game is for you. April 23, 2012
T'was OKish me hearties! Hmm...I was hoping for a bit more umph and swashbucking style!! Hey ho as it turns out it is just slooooowwwww. Don't think I'll bother and wait for Nightmares of the Deep: Cursed Heart to get my pirate fix. Might be worth it as a SE but does not cut the mustard as a CE I'm afraid. April 22, 2012
Fun Hidden Object Game Tried this out not knowing what to expect except that it was an HO game. To my surprise, it caught my attention with a variety of puzzles and a story with some unexpected twists to it. Puzzles were mostly easily solved if you think about it LOL.Good thing for the SG! The music gave such atmosphere to the game. Loved that twist and the extra play! April 24, 2012
Good game Only played demo but enjoyed it, hour went by quickly. Nice to look at interesting. Not terribly challenging game play but fun enough. Won't buy the CE but may hold out for the regular release. April 23, 2012
Good game and fun Has voice over, Hint button works good if you need it. Not hard to play. Lots of running around. Still all in all a fun game to play. HOS are easy and the puzzles are not bad. Graphics and music not bad. May 18, 2013
Not a very interesting game. Gets more and more boring. At the beginning I was really into "Secrets of the Seas: Flying Dutchman", but then I lost my interest. I didn't play the game until the end since I got bored of it and so I can't comment on the extras. There is nothing original here nor great. A very average if not less than average game. Pros: - Nice graphics, probably the most average I've ever seen, but cartoonish, so I liked them; - Beautiful artwork; - The Captain voice-over was good; - The music was great, one of the best things, really. Not annoying, pleasant to hear; Cons: - The whole game and the storyline is not original at all. Been there and done that a hundred times, so after a while of playing it, I started to get bored by the second and gave up on playing the game; Overall, this game is nice to spend some leisure time, but nothing else. That's why I'll still recommend it. May 7, 2013
potential but frustrating I really wanted to like this game and bought it but ultimately got so frustrated I stopped playing. It has potential but no map and the hint button is not helpful. I did okay till I got to the island and then I lost it. there was no logic on where to go or what to do and half the time items didn't work. I needed to clean a window and had an item I thought should have cleaned it, turned out i needed to get something from below the window and a different brush to clean the window. just irritating unfortunately. Great Puzzle/HOS, OK Adventure After your ship is sunk by the Flying Dutchman, you find out your friend has lost everything, even his freedom, and has become a slave on the Flying Dutchman. So, you decide to find a way to free him. The graphics are wonderful and the music is good, but too light-hearted for such a grim adventure. The pirate captain looks creepy, but he isn't scary. Tasks make sense, and the puzzles are good ones. The strategy guide is very helpful, and the hints are moderately helpful. HOS is clutter, but not dirty junk, and I appreciate that. Objects you find are useful. There is a good journal, to give you the feeling of the game. The level of challenge is moderately difficult, and the strategy guide makes the challenge easier.Several "Flying Dutchman" games have been released recently, but only two for Mac's. I bought one of those, (Nightmares), and love it! Secrets of the Seas, Flying Dutchman, however, just didn't "grab" me like the first one did. Just a matter of personal taste, I think, because this is a good game. May 27, 2012
