Shiver Poltergeist - Loved it Awesome game, one of the best i've played, and i have played many! May 11, 2012
First One is better . Shiver vanishing hitchhiker is alot better i will Recommend the first one " Shiver vanishing hitchhiker " June 5, 2012
Should have read the reviews first I really should have read the reviews before purchasing the standard edition. What a surprise, you don't get the full story in it! You are only eligible to know it all if you pay twice the price. I really think this little detail should have been mentioned in the game description clearly. I actually enjoyed this game. It wasn't too hard, even though you have to be creative and think out of the box a couple of times. The music was nice and atmospheric too. I would give 4 points out of 5 to graphics, but I guess it is purely a matter of taste. But all my enjoyment was interrupted rather unceremoniously when I realised that the game was over all of a sudden, while the story obviously wasn't yet. I, too, thought there had to be a sequel, but then I read the reviews. And even though I can guess who was the murderer and why, I still feel disappointed. June 15, 2013
Scary Good I loved this game. It was technically superior to every other game I've played. I couldn't stop playing until I finished. My family thought I'd abandoned them. Oops. Obviously it was tons of fun. The VOs were exceptional as were the cut scenes. There were many of them and this contributed to this game being ADVENTURE first, HOG second. There were plenty of HOGs and they were well executed, and meaningful in terms of what was added to the inventory. But, there weren't HOS every other minute and I like it like that. This is the perfect ratio of adventure to HOG. There were several puzzles but I didn't find them enormously challenging. They were all fun and unlike some other games, the puzzles weren't thrown in just to make the game longer. Although there was a bit of the back and forth, the moves didn't seem wasted. I achieved something, learned something, added something to the inventory and had to go back to use it. Fun Factor: As I said above, this was VERY fun. Visual/Sound Quality: Again, as I said above, the VOs were great. The visual quality was excellent. It was a dark and moody adventure and the lighting was slightly muted to give that feel. (It also rained in the story the whole time and that was great). The Music is the BEST PAIRING with a game I have ever heard. It never got in the way and was never boring. I think the music contributed to the game in a way I've never experienced. It was moving. The challenge was there, but I really took my time with this and enjoyed the great audio-visuals and the game play so I was careful, thoughtful and rarely got stuck. Here's a couple negatives: In part one we are introduced to the two main characters. One is the unseen protagonist and the other is an antagonist (I Think). After the first part of the game we never see the antagonist again. I think he could have played a pivotal, interactive role, highlighting the antagonism but it just didn't happen. The other negative is the abrupt, inconclusive ending. Now, this game is either begging for a sequel OR it's wise to buy the CE, not the SE as I did because of the "Shiver" bundle sale from BFG. These negatives DO NOT diminish the value, enjoyment or quality of this game. I'm sorry I can't be more specific about what I mean. I promise, you will not be disappointed when you play this. You will know that you've experienced something very special. In fact, even with the negatives, this is my new favorite game! June 8, 2013
Adventure Challenge Without The Frustration I'm not a die hard adventure gamer especially the abundance of dark & grim story lines. All the running around willy nilly looking for stuff can be annoying, But this one I like and bought. I'm not sure why: its got the grim story and there's lots of running around & back tracking but it seem to follow a more logical sequence. Not too hard but enough challenge to make it interesting & excercise your brain. May 9, 2013
Best game for ever This is the best game I have played. For the one who interested in the paranormal activities, this is the must have game. May 4, 2013
Nothing new here The SE really doesn't have an ending, guess it's in the CE. Personally I feel blackmailed when they do that. This is a very average game. Not too challenging, a bit tedious, waaaay too much going back and forth. Most of the graphics are good, with the cut scenes really falling down on the job at times. I might recommend it to new players in this field. But if you are a tried and true fan of this type of game, read the reviews first! February 18, 2013
COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER Having played Shiver The Vanishing Hitchhiker i was expecting this one to be good, bit of a let down,it isn't a bad game, just not very challenging, very creepy at times and the graphics were fine, the butler's voice over is good. The story line and mini games are good too,the end was a let down but perhaps there will be a part two?I'm glad i didn't pay full price for it.I found it quite easy, some other gamers might not, February 12, 2013
Pretty Good Game Overall, I liked the game. It didn't have a lot of useless storyline conversation that is boring to read. The puzzles were not real hard, but it kept me entertained. January 26, 2013
Wonderfully challenging game. I played this game on expert and was satisfied with the difficulty. I liked the storyline even though I've seen the haunted house theme a few times in other games. The mystery kept me interested and wanting more. I thought the commentary was rather humorous at times. The visuals could have been better. The objects in the HOS were sometimes hard to see. I only bought the SE so I didn't get to see that extra level which is disappointing but I enjoyed the game. January 20, 2013
