Good game, but needs some editing. It's been a while since I played this game, and I liked it enough that I went back and downloaded again to play a second time. I am an HOS mega-fan, but unlike some people my favorite types are the ones geared toward mystery and a sheer scare factor. Although the asylum setting is getting a bit cliche'd, it still had that creepiness that I specifically look for in an HO game. The main problems I had with this one, were, like others had mentioned, the HO scenes are VERY dark. Some items are very hard to find and most don't pertain to the game at all. With the hint button taking more than a minute to recharge, even on casual, I've spent 10-15 minutes on one HO scene before. My son and I love doing these types of games together after school, he loves the creepy ones perhaps even more than me, but this one was too hard for him, and I ended up having to complete it myself. Good game if you like the creepy ones, but may be a bit too difficult for some beginners to HOS games. January 16, 2013
Better than most so called CE... ...at half the price. Finally! This CE thinghy is starting to wear me out, 70% of time is a bluff. This game is longer than many CE, better drawn and less stupid. Keep up the good work! May 9, 2012
millymolly80 I loved this game.It played out like a ce. I love this type of game, really spooky, loads of places to explore and good hidden object fun.Well worth the money. It had everything, including the game guide if you need it. Great graphics, even the movie type scenes.Brilliant!!!!! April 30, 2012
Ok Game, No WOW Factor for me. This game hits right down the middle for me. Graphics OK (except for HOG), Story OK, Pace a little slow, Challenge OK. If I needed the credit, I would buy. HOG scenes can be a challenge due to eye mask describes 3D glasses, hair tongs describes a curling iron and I needed the HOG hint twice in 30 minutes because the scenes look dark and cloudy. Even with the hint highlight I couldn't see the object. There is a lot of travel to find objects. I may get too engaged in the game but a character needs a glass a water in this filthy asylum, UGH. I won't reject the game, may buy later. April 28, 2012
Help, I'm seasick This is another typical asylum game, with so much motion it gave me a headache. The rooms sway as you move your cursor. It's also very dark, and after a while I just like color instead of dark, gray and green. Also, for me, too many hogs. This may pick up after awhile, but for me it just didn't work. April 29, 2012
Jumped out of our seats Thoroughly enjoyed the game. Really had to remember where everything was. (A good thing!) We jumped out of our seats when opening some of the doors. To us it was challenging. We played in expert mode and found it to be provoking, but ideal and fun. The way the game ended was unexpected but fit into the story. May 7, 2012
In built strategy guide & wallpapers - kudos to the developer This offering from Lazy Turtle Games has an integrated strategy guide so no looking for a walkthrough, there are six achievements to win & 22 morphing objects (not all of these are shown in the guide unfortunately), wallpapers, all this in a Standard Edition. Kudos to the developers. I found the screen size difficult to set for my monitor (widescreen 24 inch) ? the actual fullscreen setting meant I could not read the words at the top of the screen but if I switched off the screen was at least 1 inch too small all round & I could see my desktop. The graphics are reasonably sharp (depending on how you set the screen size) but the artwork is dark & dreary & this is where the game is really let down. The lack of contrast in the scenes made it very difficult to make out an object within the H0 scenes; in addition some of the items are extremely small. They are the usual word lists but have several interactive items within each one. The mini puzzles that I met during were all easy; lock picking, tile sliding, finding several items to open a lock, etc. There are two modes of gameplay, casual with a 30 second hint recharge, sparkles & glints or expert with 60 second hint & the hidden object scenes sparkle. I confess I did not find a great deal of difference between the two. The hint button is not much use outside of the H0 scenes except to tell you that there is no outstanding task in an area although if you use it when there is a task to finish but for which you do not yet have the items this will be highlighted. There are a few voiceovers when you encounter a character & these are excellent, the music & background sounds are very subtle. There isn?t much of a story element & initially the game wasn't that creepy but it does get scarier once you reach the patients rooms. There is a lot of going back & forth to find items to open locks & suchlike, an interactive map would have helped. Still it took me just under four hours to finish so this is a good length game. Great game -had me hooked from the start. A game worthy of being a C.E.. Good story line and music. For those who have complained about it being too dark,go to the Options and turn up brightness, and those who say it doesn't fit the screen, the options page has a fix for that too. Objects weren't too small and although it took some searching to find some, they all turned out to be pretty obvious (after I used a hint, more patience needed). A helpful guide to save on shoe leather (more patience needed again!!), not so helpful hint that only said nothing more to do. All in all, a great lengthly game, looking forward to playing "Frozen", see preview in Extras. April 30, 2012
A Cool Game The graphics were excellent; there were plenty of HOS but not too many, and the puzzles were challenging. I also liked the fact that there was an integrated strategy guide and I wasn't charged extra for it. Great game worth every penny. April 30, 2012
What an interesting Game! Based on Demo Dark & Gloomy, BUT once you adjust your screen (or eyes) the IHOGS were...interesting. Each IHOG had 2 or 3 interacting item, some were tough Some were actually fun! I love the way we get comfortable with our own idioms & colloquialisms & then people get upset that the item description doesn't match. I find that this is one of the entertaining values--Babblefish seems to have been used here & I for one want to raise my hand to these awesome developers I would lover to help this Spelling & whatnot into American Verbage--please hire me! :D Crisp Graphics ***NO CLICK PENALTY*** MORPHING/ACHIEVEMENTS and SG in an SE Music & Voice overs are good & sporatic ALOT of HOGs--did I mention ALOT? Win Win Win Definately a buy for me in about 72 hours when month switches over. Hope I remember. I would buy it today-but our punches don't carry over month to month yet April 28, 2012
