Nice Going! Just what I like..a nice easy going game in which I do not need any help. From the thrilling cutscenes to the easy goin' music theme, this game rocks! The voice overs are nicely done and there is a map to identify where you are and helps you to go where you need to go.Yes,there are 46 morphing objects of which I have not been able to find them all,..maybe next time around. Great entry into this continuing saga... June 5, 2012
Mayzy's Reviews - House of 1000 Doors: The Palm of Zoroaster This game is the fun sequel to--- oh wait, it's a sequel. Once again, Mayzy was dumb and played the sequel before the original game. Don't make the same mistake! Check out House of 1000 Doors: Family Secrets so that meeting all these characters "again" won't be as confusing for you as it was for me. Now where was I? Oh yes, this game is the fun sequel to House of 1000 Doors: Family Secrets. You follow a young novelist as she solves a mystery by travelling through different countries to save the House of 1000 Doors from a fiery demon possession! The game is all around excellent. The plot may be a little disjointed, but the art is beautiful, the music very nice, the hidden object scenes and puzzles nicely paced and interesting. Perhaps a little on the easy side, but a very relaxing play. Don't forget to keep an eye out for the 'beyond' objects! Definitely a buy. June 3, 2012
Dissappointing and unoriginal. Perhaps I am just tired of one more HOS, but for me there were just no challenges or surprises in this game. I expected so much more from a game others had rated 5 stars. This was more of the very standard, drive to point x, crash your car, get stranded, free trapped ghosts, find the keys, cut with knifes,...oo, ick, skulls, snakes, spiders, and dead bodies galore. I found myself thinking, "not another HOS already". I am not a big fan of organ music of the macabre either, so I personally found this trite and irritating. I did enjoy several of the scenes, particularly the jungles of India and Madagascar. The ambient noises were very relaxing and well done. But even this was ruined for me by the constant skeletons and snakes. I liked that they chose Jerusalem as a site. But it was at night, with a medival Knights Templar feel, and again, death everywhere. In the end I found myself just trying to hurry and get this finished, which I did in about 6 hours. Definately not my idea of a 5 or even 4 star game. There are much better ones out there. May 31, 2012
This one's a maybe for me This is based on playing the trial I was quite excited to try this game. I've a couple of spots left to fill on my card and this looked promising from the reviews. I was somewhat disappointed. I didn't feel like the start of the game shed any light on what was going on. The breathy female voice acting was starting to irritate me as was the zigzagging of the camera during the cut scenes. I was having to use the hint quite a lot to find out where to go next. I did like the look of the game and some of the puzzles, although it felt like it took a while to get to one. This one's definitely HOG heavy, the combining objects element does make it a bit more interesting though. I also liked the bonus items you can collect. Overall I didn't really feel invested enough to buy it. If I'm struggling with my card at the end of the month I might come back to it. Some people have mentioned that they liked previous game more so I might give that one a try. It might also help me understand what the heck's going on. May 22, 2012
good game I really liked the first House of 1000 Doors: Family excellent graphics, many cut scenes the HO scenes are somewhat interactive within themselves fast hint refill music is ok interactive map about 3-4 hours for more experience users, May 9, 2013
As great as the first one! This game is as great as the first one! The graphics are good, the voice overs are good, there just isn't anything to complain about with this game....It offers two game modes, which is wonderful for beginners and great for those who have played 100s of these HO games like me. The mini games are not so hard that you can't figure them out, which in some games is the case. I hope there is a third one in the making :-) I would recommend this game ...... July 13, 2012
Superb I give a lot of games 5 stars, mainly because I check out games before I buy and play them. After playing this game, I am going to have to rethink my ratings and games that I might have given 5 stars to in the past are now only going to get 4. This game is truly superb. I didn?t play any of the other games in this series, but I think the story goes something like this. There is a magical house that appears and disappears in various places around the world. A deadly fire ball is terrorizing the inhabitants of this house. You must track down four crystal skulls to repair the pipe organ, then find the fireball and destroy it. To find the skulls you need to travel to four interesting parts of the world and help the souls trapped there. You must also explore some of the rooms in the House of 1000 Doors. I played in the harder mode, which was perfect for me. No sparkles. There are lots of interesting things to do and items to find. The HOS are mainly scattered junk piles. They are fun and challenging, but doable, with many interactive parts. Some are simple (look in a basket) others require some problem solving (light a lantern). You will need to search each HOS twice. There are many puzzles. I didn?t think any were particularly difficult, but they were fun. The graphics are great. There are voice over?s that you can click through, but, for the first time in my life, I thought the voice over?s were so well done I didn?t want to click through. Hard to believe, but true! Music and ambient sounds are good. I took me at least six hours (maybe longer) to finish. The best thing about this game is the interactive map. It shows where actions are required and you can jump from one location to another. By having this feature, the designers solved almost all of my general complaints about this type of game. No need for a walk through, since you can check the map and find out where you need to be. If you fail to notice an item or area of interest, the ?!? sign on the map will direct you to the right area. Therefore, you can play in the hardest mode and still get help if you need it. Or ignore the map and go it alone. Also, the hints recharge fairly quickly and are very useful. This is a wonderful game. I highly recommend it! June 13, 2012
Great Game! AAAAA+ I wish all hidden object games were like this one! Relaxing game with easy but interesting puzzles. Interesting storyline. The length of the game was adequate, not too short. It had plenty of places to explore which kept it interesting to play. I highly recommend this game. June 10, 2012
1000 doors did it again! What a wonderful game! It offers everything I expect from one HOG - beautiful graphics, not too difficult puzzles, intuitive gameplay. They've even included the map, so there is no much going back and forth. I was amazed by the level of polish of the first hour of the game - each new scene introduces FMVs.that really add up to overall experience. It's definitely worth playing! Good job developers! not as good as the first one This is nowhere near as good as the first game. I guess if all you want is to wander around looking for objects this is a fine game, good graphics. The game play is ok, but nothing new. What I really liked about the first one was that the characters and cut scenes really developed a good story and made me interested in solving the puzzles, finding the objects etc. The story here doesn't really develop anything on the first one, and the characters are boring, no motivation or inspiration, not adding anything to the game play.
