Another great game from Blue Tea Games I am never disappointed with this developer. To me, they seem to put a lot into each of their games. Here again is a CE that I think is worth the money, in my view. It's a long game (easily 4 1/2 to 5 hours plus 1+ hour for the bonus) that is totally immersive, beautifully rendered with great voiceovers and appropriate music. The H0S scenes, of which I counted 28 in the main game and 9 in the bonus play, are clear and uncluttered. This many H0S in a game is usually a disappointment to me, but I had no problem playing them in this game, even three back to back. The graphics are so lovely they are a pleasure to play rather than something to be endured. The puzzles are not that difficult and there could have been more of them for me, but they were still fun to play. The cat hint button is very cute and recharges very quickly and the map, showing objectives and areas of interest is useful. There is some running around to be done, but the setting is not so large that it should cause too much confusion. I recommend this game. Once I started playing I found it hard to stop. May 16, 2012
A Beautiful Disappointment Having played the entire game I must say that yes this is a beautiful game gave to us by a wonderful developer. I always look forward to games from this developer because they always give us something unique with their games but sadly not this time they only managed to fall in the same old same old category with this one. All of the game was a complete piece of eye candy what the game lacked was it's uniqueness and that came with the search scenes with this developer we always get the wonderful and fun FROG'S where you look for fragments for an object but this time we get the list how disappointing. Fragmented objects are very few and far between and they are so fun and this developer always delivers that they are one of the few that actually do those type anymore and I was so disappointed that this whole game was just a typical hidden object. The story the graphics the puzzles everything was dead on except for the search scenes. There were also just random pieces of things laying around in the scenes that you could pick up but actually couldn't do anything with them which really became annoying then there was the journal that would just jump out at you without warning every time there was an update in it. There were morphing objects which were hard to find because they actually didn't morph but were blended into the scene as if they were suppose to be there so finding them was a task in itself which became annoying and I simply quit trying to find them. Usually with this developer I hate to see the game come to an end although with this one I was glad to see it end because the uniqueness was gone and I didn't even bother to play the bonus game because I was so disappointed with the main game although it was good and quite enjoyable but the fun was gone and the game was just lacking in the umph category and that is because of the change this developer made with this one. Sorry developers although you delivered a gorgeous game that was fun I always look to you for that certain type of hidden object and that is the fragmented objects which we didn't get with this one. You went from a unique developer to a typical developer all in one game. I really hope this isn't the beginning of a new thing with this developer. Although I did enjoy the game and it was gorgeous and had beautiful scenery and some really neat puzzles and it was a good length but it ended up being beautiful disappointment. That is my feeling on the game but it's worth the demo so give it a spin. Thank you dev's and Big Fish. May 11, 2012
not my favorite I think this game started off really well but somewhere along the way it deteriorated. You were never finished with one area so there was constant backtracking. Towards the end it became endless junk piles. Also when you'd find something it wouldn t be anything you needed right away so I had to utilize the hint button a lot just to see where to go. I was wanting the end to come so badly that I finally quit before the very end. Finally very few puzzles and they were all repeats. If you want an endless game of running around and junk piles then this is for you. May 20, 2012
Well done Blue Tea Games! Yet another great game from Blue Tea Games. I've only played the demo but if the game unfolds as well as previous BTG games then it's going to be full of twists and turns. Brilliant artwork, fantastic atmospherics, great take on an old fable. Dark but not too much so that you can't see the objects you're trying to find. Oh dear, looks like it's going to be an expensive month, another game to add to my wish-list. May 11, 2012
gorgeous graphics at a town festival in the town of hamelin one evening, someone questions the existence of the pied piper, which seems a reasonable thing to do, especially when trying to make casual conversation. except someone else overhears and doesn't appreciate this skepticism. this mysterious someone else uses the pied piper's magical flute to unleash his wrath -- in the form of a plague of plague-infected rats -- upon the town. you are a famous inspector, summoned by the duke of hamelin to investigate what's happening and to stop this mysterious figure. graphics: i really enjoyed the graphics and the mini-games. the graphics are generally well done (the horses left something to be desired, however, and seriously, rats really DO NOT have fangs!). you can interact with a number of objects in the scenes -- crows, rats, etc. the hidden object scenes included objects that needed some assembly, but the scenes were often kind of junky looking. interestingly, other items in these scenes could be interacted with but were not included in the immediate list of items to be found. why: are these items assembled in later searches of the same scene? i really enjoyed the mini-games, which required some thought, but were not overly difficult to figure out -- especially important before that first cup of coffee in the morning. the game also includes morphing items and the hint button is, appropriately enough, a housecat. there is a map, and it shows you were you are and whether there's something of interest for you to investigate at each location. the journal, which i rarely use anyway, had the annoying habit of popping up unexpectedly. although i was supposed to investigate the mysterious bad-tempered flautist and his evil motives, i found myself wondering why it is always nighttime in hamelin. warning: if you are creeped out by rats or large very hairy spiders, you may wish to skip this game, cuz they're everywhere (especially the rats!). my interaction: one hour demo, causal mode. my four-star rating is due to the quality of the graphics, which are superb. the story itself is ok, but nothing that will keep me awake at night, not even with all the spiders in the game. A Good Game But Didn't Rock My Socks To Buy the CE This review is for the whole demo time as I was still in chapter 1 when time was up playing in normal mode but I'm a slow game player and take my time. Warning: To those of you who have a rat phobia. The story: You have been summoned to the town of Hamelin to defeat The Dark Piper and infested rodents. 6 chapters + bonus chapter 3 play modes: Casual, Normal, Hard There is a widescreen (stretch screen) option. Strategy Guide: Main game pages 1 - 41 . Bonus game (The Midas Liar) - begins on page 42, but won't let you see the rest of it until you finish the main game. Only shows the first 3 chapters during the trial. All extras are locked until you complete the main game. There is a journal which list your objectives/task that need to be completed. There is also a map which is the compass down at the bottom and it has little squares that you have to "hover your mouse" over to see the names of the places. It will also show where you are, objectives and areas of interest. Not much traveling back/forth during the demo time for me but I'm sure that would pick up the further along in the game. HO scenes: Found by word list what I've played of this and are interactive. A little on the Sanford & Son junk pile side but not too bad in my opinion as I didn't have trouble locating anything as I didn't use the hint. The scenes in this area pretty clear for me. Puzzles: I only came across a couple during the trial and considering I'm not a fan of the puzzles they were pretty easy as I didn't have to skip them. Hint/Skip: Can't comment since I didn't use them but they are available of course. 20 morphing objects to find. My overall impression: I'm going to start of with what I liked: The graphics/artwork along with voice overs is just excellent like the rest of this developer's games I've played. I also to my surprise still found the story to be good considering I have a mice/rat phobia. It didn't bother me as much as I thought it would. Now for what I didn't like. While I do like the finding by word list however when I'm looking for a change in the way of finding items I always look to this developer since their games are usually the FROGS (fragmented pieces). What I played of this there was none so if you are looking forward to playing a FROG game well you may be disappointed here in this regard. I also didn't care for the journal AT ALL just popping up out of the blue right in the middle of my computer screen here every time it updates it with a new objective/piece of information as that REALLY startled me and I found it downright annoying. The HO scenes: I also found it downright annoying that I was able to pick up stuff that had absolutely nothing to do with that HO scene at the time. I'm not sure what was up with that??? The Compass Map: Sorry but I didn't care for this map at all. In order to see where you're at, you have to "hover" over the little squares and you can't use it to travel back/forth if you wish. I also didn't realize I had to find morphing objects as I didn't see anything listed about that until I just happened to stumble across one by accident. Now the real kicker here and I will be putting this in my reviews every time I see this in a game: Why does the stuff have a lock on it especially after a person buys the game? Why do they have to play the whole game before they can see the bonus and all the other extras? Sorry but once a person buys a game they should have access to everything in that game. Please tell this developer and all the other ones to stop the madness on this already. While I'm passing on this CE I still find this downright annoying and just not right. I know some others are annoyed with this as well just from reading the game forum. Overall, I give this 3 stars as I still found this to be a good game although I do have a mice/rat phobia which I could of done without them. This game however just didn't rock my socks to where I just had to buy this CE. I will more than likely purchase the SE when that comes to the site. Thanks anyway Big Fish and developer. While this CE version isn't my cup of tea I still recommend it after reading some reviews now that I've played the demo. I think most will just love this game. I know I'm in the minority with this game but oh well. This game didn't impress me THAT much. As always definitely give it a whirl and decide for yourself. May 10, 2012
Buy It Now Blue Tea, you can't beat them for a really great game. Took advantage of the Mother's day special and have been playing over an hour. I usually don't rate a game until I've finished it but this one is worth an early rating. Could break it down, but it all is good. Don't even mind the HO's. May 12, 2012
Four and a half stars really! I knew I would have to buy this as soon as I saw it pop up as the new release. I really enjoy Blue Tea games, and I question my reasoning somethimes. They are always done to the same formula so each new game I play by them feels like an old sweater! However the execution is always exsquisite and this new offering is no exception. Based on the whole game and bonus content - 5-6 hours of play in total- I have to say this game is a real winner. I played in normal mode - so few sparkles and found it to be the right mix of HOS and puzzles. The storyline is relatively fast paced but there are some moments where I thought "I have had this item for an hour now - where on earth do I need to use it"!!! There is a map which shows you where points of interest are which is a good thing as this game is big and you get special powers as the game goes on. You also have to find morphing objects and these are tough to spot! All in all I spent a fun Friday forgetting about my eye infection absorbed in a pretty fab game. Nice one Blue Tea May 12, 2012
Every thing perfect but the storyline After a while, I decide to finish this game again and I feel a little dissatisfy. I think this revenge storyline is too familiar and this game didn't give me a rightful ending.Thing always happened this way: Something terrible happened in the past, no one there to helped the character, then years went by, he/she strong enough to revenge, then from middle of nowhere, a good guy with pure heart appear and destroy his/her plans. I was like: Come on, I feel the pain of the Dark piper, and some parts of me want to support him. Why can't we just try to convince him to just revenge the duke and his employer and spare the rest of European? Or at least try to convinced him after knock him out? I remember a story of Sherlock Holmes, when he found out that doctor revenge for his fiancee's dead, he decide to spared that doctor. And that is the type of character I would like to play. This detective character make me feel like I was a nerd. I still recommend this game because all the other factor are good. I love the way player interact with environment, but that make me feel so close to Dark piper's pain, but that probably just me. May 18, 2012
It's a Go Great game. Like it enough to buy it right now. Love the interaction with things surround a scene. Like the horse, the teddy bear. Love the first puzzle. Was really fun and interesting. May 10, 2012
