Charming like old movies ! Great Cult Game !! Love it! The scene at the beginning makes you travel back to the black and white movies ... WOW, is wonderful : Helena is looking for her mother, the actress Rita Ray(Hayworth?!?), on the Vernon's island. Vernon is a film director and owner of the movie studio island. The game is colorful, not really challenging, but really enjoyable and provides great fun ! Good amount of HOS, without much difficulty, but very pleasant. Many outstanding and varied locations - always parts of a movie studio, very neat. Fun mini games, some new, some well-known. Get ready to walk far, by the entire island, behind Vernon and Rita! But...it has a map and "special sneakers" that helps to jump from one scene to another - very useful! The game provides a great entertaining ! Especially for movie lovers !!! Definitely goes to my collection !! February 15, 2012
An enjoyable light-hearted iHOG game I really enjoyed this game. Very much like a 'B' movie in content, making a refreshing change from the usual creepy, scary format. The story was silly, but easily followed. I played advanced mode; the game wasn't overly difficult but got you thinking about what you should do next. The map was great as you could 'jump' to where you needed to be, instead of trolling around for hours going to places you don't need to be. The map didn't give away too much either, so gameplay was still challenging. I didn't need to refer to a W/T for this game. The graphics were good, as was the sound. Enough dialogue without becoming boring. I knocked a star off because you can't look at your inventory items, or do anything whilst the dialogue is going on. This is something I find incredibly annoying! HOG scenes weren't too hard, and this game had an excellent hint system. It took me 5 + hours to play it, and that included skipping much of the dialogue and some puzzles. The puzzles were ok, and not too difficult in the main. All in all I recommend you play this game if you enjoy iHOGs, and fancy a change from creepy! February 15, 2012
Interesting game Played the whole demo, which is very seldom for me... - 2 Game play modes, you can change from one to another while playing - Notebook - Tasks button - MAP and you CAN JUMP FROM ONE PLACE TO THE OTHER, (sorry Valdy ;), . Spoiler, hightlight to read : for that you must find a pair of sneakers in one of the rooms ! - Good voiceovers - Good jazzy music which adds to the atmosphere - H0 are clear, no junkpiles, always a +, you don't interact - Hint button refills slowly even in easy mode - Skip button as well - Instructions, when there are some, not too clear for the mini games Good interesting story which brings you back to the thirties (?), nice old days "Hollywood" atmosphere, a lot of tasks to perform and places to visit. The only snag, for me, is that I can't get it wide screen and I hate the back bars on top and below the game. A very good game which I will most probably purchase. February 15, 2012
Highly Enjoyable Mystery I was hesitant to try this one because it seemed to be predictable and previously done. I was wrong. If you are a fan of the board game Clue, this one's for you. There were just the right amount of HOG's and interesting puzzles. At first it seems like the amount of travelling from one area to the next will get annoying, but you are able to gain the power to jump scenes fairly soon after starting. (That's a HUGE plus in my book!) This is not the game to play if you don't like referring back to your journal. As for audio/visual quality, it's a very pleasant enviornment from start to finish. Fun & games in an old movie studio A fun game with good story line and moderately challenging objectives & puzzles. Loved the old move studio context with the suitably snarky villan/director. Clear crisp graphics, adjustable sfx, music & voice levels plus brightness. Finished in Casual mode in 2:15 so play time is OK. Perhaps not quite challenging enough to suit dedicated HO/puzzle enthusiasts but the fun-factor balances that out for me. February 15, 2012
A Little Different This is based on the hour demo. Liked the map also great for me as I always forget my way in some of these games. I liked the storyline as it was different from the usual castle/wolf/soul sucking/portal ones. Not that I don't like those by the way. As other reviewers have mentioned it has the atmosphere of a B black and white movie. However in each scene there was only a few things to interact with which is another thing that I look for in a game. Overclicking on HOS was fun (made me jump) but the recharge button for hints and skips was too long for me. The puzzles were relatively straight forward but that too was ok. The graphics were crisp not at all grainy which is the most important thing that I look for. I will not buy a game with poor graphics. The HOS were non interactive as many have mentioned and very straight forward. I must say I do look for games with more adventurous Hidden object scenes. However as someone else said it would certainly be worth a game credit just because it was just a little different. February 16, 2012
Just A Run of The Mill HOG Only played the demo of this game. Introduction good with VO the text. Storyline pretty simple - save your mother from a mad film director. Graphics and music good. HOS not cluttered, well drawn with the objects relatively easy to find (some of the smaller objects required a couple of clicks). Not too many either. The usual mini-games (rotate tiles, pattern matching etc) not too challenging. You needed to find a lot of objects to use later - the advent of the red sneakers so you can zap back and forth on your map a good idea (once you found them). Map also useful to show areas with tasks still to complete. Journal entries are good and useful - especially the instructions on the film developing. There are unlimited hints but the button fills slowly. The tutorial at the beginning was useful. I enjoyed the demo but this is just a run of the mill HOS game. Not enough to hold my attention longer - so I won't be buying this one. For that reason I'm not recommending this one - too many far better HOS games to choose from. February 15, 2012
Why you should try the demo! here's why.... My initial thought when seeing the advertisement picture was "hmm not sure il like this". if your a fan of games such as dorian gray, mystery case files etc, like me, you will LOVE this game. the sheer amount of rooms and mini games is very special, the hidden objects are just right for someone who is used to such games, the storyline is interesting enough to keep you wanting to go on, the puzzles i found some hard but the skip feature is there. hints are helpful without making it too easy. then on entering maybe the tenth room i came across a map which once picked up, means you can click on it, and where u need to be next will be highlighted so u can click an get there instantly. Alot of thought has gone into this game, and if this is just from a 1 hour demo, I WANT IT, NOW! February 17, 2012
Different and amazing game This game will satisfy both adventure and hidden object buffs. The story line is so compeling you can't wait to see what the directer will do next. Each location is very detailed and wonderfully done. The only negitive I could find is that the programmers could have used each scene to do more things and make the story even better. Just another HOG like any other HOG At first I thought it was a pale copy of Nancy Drew: Lights Camera, Curses. It is up to a point as the action takes place in a movie studio, but with the difference that Nancy Drew was much much better, didn't have any HOS and was a pure adventure full of suspense. I found the visuals interesting though messy since they depict a derelict studio and also very dark. HO Scenes are the usual stuff and present no interest whatsoever save the fact you have to play them in order to get one useful object. Goals are not that clear but the hint system helps a bit. There are many locales to visit which means a lot of bouncing to and fro, though you get help from a map. Tasks and puzzles are basic. So is the storyline. Good voice-overs though. All in all a game that won't set the earth on fire and that I won't recommend unless you have nothing better to play February 15, 2012
